"Care to comment?"
This care to comment was so damn heavy!
At this moment, all sounds quieted. All teachers glared at the girl with rapt attention. How could a student be that brave/reckless, especially Eagleye's protégé?!
All the man ever did was study stars! This was so out of character that they couldn't help but freeze. Actually, what if there was some truth to all those accusations? That's when the focus returned to poor Chad on stage…
"M-Miss, are you actually here to cause trouble?!" Anger could be felt in his voice.
So this was the route he was going with, eh? Righteous anger! Lizzy suddenly looked in her mind for the corresponding plan. Ah, there it was! It seemed she just had to… Gasp!
"Trouble? Aren't you the one stirring trouble with all this?" she gestured the whole auction.
"Scoff— Do you believe your own Teacher would approve of such slandering!"
"Slandering? No, but he DID approve this!"
"Y-YOU?! !"
"Me?"
The youngster's show had suddenly turned into a one-on-one confrontation! But just as it seemed like the youngster would blow up, there was suddenly a strange cough in the room. T-That's when everything changed!
The youngster? He suddenly lost all motivation to fight. Instead he started explaining himself:
"It's true, my name is Chadwell."
"Marketing and bouncer? Just friends!"
"Restricted invitations? I'm sorry if I offended anyone."
"As for whether this could work or not, I truly don't know myself."
That's when he turned a victorious gaze toward Lizzy… only to be shocked. Why was she actually giving him a thumbs-up? It was as if she merely had to rattle him?! This made no damn sense!
She even completely quieted up…
Or at least, she did as far as the auction was concerned…
- WeAreLegion: He didn't lose his temper, that means he can be trained. But it seems far too many Teachers actually have their eyes on him. Since we can't lower the bid, we'll have to increase it… by a LOT!
- SupacompuGirl: What should I do now, Teacher?
- WeAreLegion: Just bid in due time…
And bide her time she did! She waited for the auction to progress. A short reminder of the youngster's abilities, another short speech, and then it was finally time to bid.
It was HEAVY!
A regular auction with Mages? Stressful.
But now an auction with Teachers?! Nerves-obliterating!
That's when Chad on the stage gave the go for the madness to start.
One after the others they went, every single bid crazier than the last!
Teacher Stalone → A dozen R7 Beast Cores & 2 Passes for the Great Hunt!
Alchemist Old Blue → Lifetime supply of Elixirs from a half-step T5 Alchemist!
Teacher Regald → 3 Years of Elite Disciple Stipend & meeting with the Hellrand Prince!
"This is getting intense!"
"Great Hunt passes are nice, but a T5 Alchemist? Priceless!"
"Then again, a meeting with the Prince could potentially set one for life!"
But just as Chad seemed to be hesitating… A new one was suddenly added!
Teacher Eagleye → Transcendent Grimoire!
"Gasp?! Eagleye has something like that?!"
"How's that possible? That's insane!"
"He should pick that for sure!"
At this moment, even the youngster couldn't help but gasp. So what if she had caused him trouble before? This was a Transcendent Grimoire for Evernight's sake!
One had to know that those were rarer than a phoenix's feather and would provide Mana techniques so powerful that their users would inevitably rise!
This was the BEST! The youngster sighed…
"Everyone, it seems this Auction has come to an end. As for the winner, it's naturally Teacher Eagleye with—"
— CLANG! —
The door was suddenly slammed open.
That's when a Red-Wearing Enforcer entered, a grin on his face.
"Nice, you all saved me a spot! I'd like to make a bid too! I'm bidding… a Manticore's egg! How's that, hehehe! That ought to be enough to smash the competition!"
Except, it wasn't.
The newcomer was quickly told otherwise.
That's when he glanced at Lizzy, his face contorting!
"Impossible! The bid came from Eagleye?! Are you sure?!"
"Of course, his Disciple herself placed the bid!"
"That can't be! Something HUGE happened at the Astral Tower, and now it's under investigation. We quickly reviewed all Disciple files, and she wasn't in there!"
"What?!"
"What are you saying she's a fake?!"
"If she isn't, then how do you explain it?!"
But as all eyes turned toward her, Lizzy showed incredible poise. She didn't panic one bit since Gray had warned her that this might just happen. Instead, she smiled.
"Oh? Indeed, you guys got it quite wrong it seems. But I don't recall ever saying my Teacher was Eagleye, not one time. Why don't you guys change the name on the bid?"
"C-Change the name? Change it to what?"
"Teacher Gale, who else?"
The whole scene seemed to freeze. T-Teacher Gale?! Wasn't that a new Teacher?! Wasn't he supposed to be in jail?! That's when Lizzy grabbed a circular ball, activating it.
Instantly, a screen appeared, one with an annoyingly familiar face. Gray Gale on an asteroid in the void, aka the Academy's most secure prison.
"Hey, you all! Been a while, hasn't it? You guys sure are having fun, eh? Running an auction without me? Why are you all shocked? Never seen a big boss run things from prison?"
"…."
"…"
"…"
"Teacher Gale? Hahaha, I knew it!"
"Aldor? Is that you? You stalking me or something?!"
Why did the two seem like old friends merely having a casual conversation?! Not only that, but the guy was about to have a Trial soon, so how was he so enthusiastic?!
But amidst all that turmoil, Chad spoke up:
"Big Boss? Funny! I'm sure that Transcendent Grimoire's as fake as you! I REFUSE!"
As for his final choice… the guy with the Prince Meeting?! Regald, was it? So that's how it was, eh? This guy had already decided to join the Duke's Faction.
Little did the youngster know that he had missed the opportunity of a lifetime. Still, Gray wouldn't waste energy on the guy anymore, well maybe troll him one last time…
"What?! The Grimoire was totally real, too! A real IOU, for sure! The first Grimoire I found would have totally been yours! But oh well, it's your loss for—"
That's when the screen cut, seemingly out of energy. So much for a big boss running things in prison! Little did they know that Gray was still totally free…
In fact, he was now happily fishing in his Soul Pond, or was trying anyway because...

Did my plan backfire on me? I wouldn't exactly say that. It just didn't lead anywhere. Then again, it showed me that the Duke Faction has supporters even in the Academy.
