Synopsis

Adrian wasn't having the best of days. His daily beating was more harsh then usual he had lost all his money. But that wasn't the worst part, the worst part was the fact the only place he had ever found peace was now being occupied by a legendary creature that looked like a giant golden lion. And the only words going through Adrian's head were "Oh shit,"

Chapter 1Chapter 1

Chapter 1

To the north of the Emerald shelter was a field of flowers known as the Field of Glory. Even through its name may make the place sound to be a battlefield this was false and in fact this was a very common date location and through out the years many couples had been seen doing their business within these fields. No one really knows why it was called the Field of Glory as far as anyone could remember it was just always called that. But this mattered little as today no one was around the field to see a golden eight-foot lion covered in golden armour covering his orange skin and his magnificent golden mane standing on the field. The Lion cared little for the field as he stood there while his limbs crushed the flowers beneath him. His eyes were locked onto a boy that the lion had spotted, he could tell that the boy was no more than eighteen years old, he had dark-browned skin with long black messy hair going just above his shoulders. The Lion decided to examine the boy some more as he found him curious, he just couldn't figure out why. The boy wore he had a grey shirt with what seemed to be brown stains covering the shirt and he wore long black trousers having the same brown stains covering the pants as well. The boy was also covered in bruises showing on his face and his arms looking like he had gotten into a fight. Even though it was getting dark the lion could easily see the boy. After examining his clothes, the Lion turned to the boy's dark brown eyes and the Lion could tell one thing the boy was terrified. The Lion was completely right as the boy had only one thought "Oh shit,"

Adrian was having a bad day, and it started with the moment he woke up his house. The first thing that went wrong was the fact there was no hot water left and Adrian had to take another cold bath again. He thought to himself that if he kept taking these cold baths, he was going to catch a cold sooner of later and he knew that he couldn't allow that to happen it would be a death sentence for him. Feeling like complete shit Adrian then went to work early in the mourning as he always did, helping the blacksmith Gunther. Even though to many Adrian may look skinny but due to his many years in the forge he was quite ripped underneath his shirt and Adrian hoped on day this would help him get with the lady's as Gunther was always telling him "No women wants a man that she could use as a toothpick,". When it started to get close to the afternoon Gunther let him off work with his pay for that week saying "Don't lose that gold now, if you do I can't give you anymore until the goods are sold again next week," after receiving his pay Adrian thought that the feeling that he had this morning was nothing and thought "Why ruin my day over a shower," and just as he thought this the Lee brothers had shown up with ten members of the Brothers gang. Adrian knew he wasn't getting out of this, so he decided to brace himself for what the oldest Lee brother Duncan liked to say, "His daily beating". But what Adrian didn't expect was how ferocious the Lee brothers were today. Normally they would push him around and hit him a couple of times showing off how much stronger they were than Adrian was. But today Duncan got two of his gang members to hold him down while the rest took shots at him. Adrian got kicked in the ribs and arms punch in the face and stomach after what felt like an eternity for Adrian, they stopped leaving him and Adrian could see the youngest Lee brother Gregory reach for something on the ground. It was Adrian's pay. Gregory smirked at him and left with the money in hand. Adrian could tell that Duncan and his brother Gregory were in a sour mood today even if they didn't show it on their face, and that's why they had given Adrian an extra hard beating. It took all of Adrian's strength to stand up Adrian examined himself seeing all the bruises on his face and arms. And feeling the pain in his ribs. Adrian's clothes had also been stained with dirt not that it made much difference to how his clothes look normally. Seeing that there was no real bleeding and as far as he could tell no internal damage Adrian decided to go to the one place were, he was at peace the Field of Glory. As now he had lost his pay for that week and that would cut down on his down on his saving. He felt angry mostly with himself as he couldn't do anything and he needed to cool off. On his way out of the shelter towards the field he was given weird looks by the towns people, it was nothing new to Adrian he experienced this by the towns people every single day except for a small amount of people that never gave him that look. Adrian knew that in this world power was everything and if you didn't have it you would be treated like dirt. Compared to some of the other people in the shelter Adrian was better off as he had a job. Adrian wanted power but the only way to get power besides learning some martial arts which he couldn't pay for and the other was to have beast souls. But even though beast souls were common knowledge Adrian still only knew the bear minimum. All he knew was that if you killed a beast soul creature you could gain its soul and gain some power that the original creature had. The power usually came in a piece of equipment such as armour or weapons that could be summoned from thin air in a manner of seconds. The soul creatures were categorised for how much power and the rarity of the creature it went from common, advanced, rare, epic and the strongest form legendary. Sadly, for Adrian he could not hunt a soul creature as he was too weak. He didn't have any of the advantages that the Lee brothers had coming from the richest family in the whole shelter. Many times, in his life Adrian felt envious but he always released that he would want to be nothing like them and help those weaker than him and crush the ones who oppressed the weak. Not too long after going outside the shelter Adrian had made it to the Field. Adrian knew that no couples around at this time Adrian walked into the fields and dropped down laying on his back looking up into the sky. It was just starting to get close to the afternoon as the sky became darker. Adrian's eyes quickly started to close, and he drifted off to sleep. When Adrian woke up it was late in the afternoon getting close to dark and he knew he had to get back to the shelter. As he stood up, he found himself felling a little less sore and as he turned around, he completely froze seeing a giant golden armoured Lion only two meters away from him. Adrian could feel the power coming off this beast and he could tell that this was a soul creature but not just any soul creature It had to be a legendary creature and Adrian could only think one thing "Oh shit,"

GlaringError here! As I have already mentioned in my author review I am restating it here since I am getting tons of comments about it, that I am more of a reader myself than a writer, I made this novel in an attempt to capture my fantasy world residing in my mind into words.. Writing is new for me.. The premise of my novel is inspired by many great works that I have loved over the years. And some elements I have in my novel that are slightly similar to them but it's just the skeleton of it, the real meat of the plot is entirely my own cooking. Some of the influence that is more noticeable is from The Runesmith (By Kuropon), The King's Avatar (By Butterfly Blue) and Shadow Slave (By Guiltythree). I have immense respect for these legends and I can only hope to follow in their footsteps. To all those who comment just by judging the name, at least give it a chance before letting your opinions be known. Thank you.
