Skill Trees

When I had gone to sleep I appeared in a place similar to the one I was in at the start of all this. However I was now in the center and where the players once stood it was now floating stars. I could walk up the the stars and they clearly represented the skill trees.

I looked over each of the skill trees now. I somehow started at Lockpicking and in my opinion it still seemed ass. The next in the line was one of the newer skill trees Acrobatics. It might be useful to invest some things into it. It increased speed, stamina and had perks like acrobatic leap. The skill tree might not be a bad idea to invest in.

Perhaps instead of checking out the skill trees I already understood perhaps I should look at the new ones. I found the hand to hand skill tree. It was actually rather basic, great for a monk build, but not my cup of tea. Though the perk called Claws I think could stack with Khajiit, werewolf or vampire claws. So maybe useful to train.

I looked for one of the other two skill trees and I instantly found them useful the one I stopped at first was Empowerment. The skill tree was essentially a racial skill tree. The perks were related to my Nord and Snow Elf blood. With all the possible races normally possible combined with all the hybrid races you could pick. The amount of perks they came up with must be insane.

The negative to the skill tree empowerment was it could only be trained through your racial features. I lacked the racial abilities like battle cry meaning the only way to train the skill tree was to be attacked by frost. Overall if I could train even a little into this skill tree I could acquire one the the abilities from the skill tree to train it.

The last skill tree that was new was blessings. I wandered around until I found it next to the restoration skill tree. The blessing skill tree was just as good as the empowerment skill tree. However I had no idea how o even begin training it.

The first perk in the skill tree was called Blessings. A simple perk that boosted all passive effects up to 30%. Another perk on the skill tree was Guard, it gave disease and poison resistance up to 100%. The skill perk after that one was Protection. Which made all negative effects less harmful. Seeing that perk instantly made me think of its possible use for negating the effect of sun weakness to vampires.

I sighed however, I only had one perk point after all. I walked over to the Alteration skill tree. Looking at Novice Alteration I read through its description. Selecting this perk would give me all the novice level alteration spells. It seems that effect is only due to me picking it as one of my three skill trees though. So I didn't get scammed after all. If I wanted to learn other magic I had to do it using magic tomes. The novice perks in the other skill trees would function just as normal.

Meaning I got both lucky and unlucky with my choices. It was fine however, with the bonus I selected for alteration. I didn't need to learn all the spells available to those magic schools. I should be able to just learn most of them using the spells I got from that bonus.

I looked back at the alteration skill tree and put the perk point into Novice Alteration. I took a deep breath as information flooded my mind. It didn't last long and the feeling was quick. Suddenly I just knew the varying alteration spells.

I was still in the skill tree dreamscape though. I looked around and saw an ornate door. The door way was clearly the passage to wake up. Walking over to it I stopped. Next to the door was a part of my profile. I laughed it was the complete magic section. Seems I could alter my spell list here.

I started with my passive effects. Three things were listed, Racial Frost Resistance, Atmora Native, and Ancient Race. The frost resistance was clear, Atmora Native was interesting. Atmora Native gave an interesting buff.

"Atmora Natives exist only in the last bastion of a forgot land. In harsh life strength is bred into children before they are born. Growth is increased in harsh conditions or tough battles."

I read it aloud then read it again silently. It didn't give a percentage or number so I guess I could only speculate how it works. The last passive effect was Ancient Race a simple description was given to that one. When interacting with descendants of your species your skills are 5% more effective.

After checking the passive effects I had I activated the spell conversion. Instantly I got 3 new spells, I got the alteration spell Grant Frost resistance, the Restoration spell Adversity, and the illusion spell Senior Discount. On top of that I was happy to see that the passive effects remained. Meaning if I converted passive effects or spells I'd keep the spell and the passive effect.

Looking at each grant frost resistance gave a %50% increase to frost resistance. Adversity used Stamina to restore Mana and Health. While the spell Senior Discount increased bartering. It seemed the spell that is created from a passive effect, won't completely be related to the original effect. Which meant the reverse also may occur. I looked at the novice Alteration spells.

Candlelight, Oakflesh and Equilibrium were spells I remembered. However it seemed new spells had been added. Spells like Alarm, Splinter, and Lock. Alarm was simple enough it was a literal alarm. Splinter was interesting. The spell would break down existing ingredients into smaller parts. The last spell Lock was self-explanatory. It could lock any existing door. Actually kind of useless since it meant I could accidentally lock myself in a room.

I instantly used conversion on all of them. Candlelight turned into the passive effect Better Vision. Oakflesh turned into Flesh of Oak, which gave a permanent 20 armor. Equilibrium turned into Balance, which increased the learning of Acrobatics by 20%. That kind of showed just how conversion worked. Alarm turned into the passive effect Alertness, which was similar to Better Vision, but instead of eyesight it increased my hearing.

The last to passive effects that I got from Splinter and Lock were actually good. Splinter gave the passive effect Splintered focus. Allows the casting of at least one extra spell. Which meant I could cast three spells at a time. Lock was a strange one though. The useless spell turned into the passive effect Sure-footed. The name kind of sucked, but the effect was wonderful. As long as I wasn't moving I could not be staggered by any attack. Sure-Footed had its down side. However if I got a shield it would be pretty effective.

I thought for a moment. I clicked on the spells Divergence and Fusion and converted them too. I received the two passive effects. Division and Harmony, I looked at both and my eyes sparkled. Division wasn't the best, however it was useful. All skill progress is decreased by 20%, however all skill level ups will increase all other skills by 10 points. The effect of this could get out of hand quickly.

The passive effect Harmony was similar to Division. However the effect was, ridiculous. Harmony made it adjacent skill trees level up along with leveled skills trees. At first the description confused me. As I understood it, If I leveled up my one-handed skill, my two-handed skill and archery skill would be leveled up as well. Sadly this effect only increased adjacent skills by 25% of the progress made to the focused skill. Meaning if I got 40 points towards one handed, only 10 points would be given to two-handed and archery.

It made sense it couldn't be too powerful. The doors that I assumed to be the exit swung open. A piercing white light came from them and suddenly I jolted awake in bed. I looked around and it was morning. I could hear the people outside. It seems I can only stay within the skill tree dreamscape for so long.

I yawned and got up. I'll go see Captain Aldis, and see what I can do today. First I checked the Fusion and divergence spell. I had no where near enough mana to cast them while awake. I'll need to do that stuff later.
