Chapter 1Hello Darkness My(New) Friend

"Hello?"

That's all I could say. I mean nobody exists around me. Just Darkness. The Darkness felt as if it is trying to oppress me. It was getting harder to just think and move. I had to escape this cage, but how?

I drifted, and floated, my soul trying to figure out where to go. I then saw a light piercing the darkness. That's my ticket out of here!

I floated as fast as I could. A desperation set into me. I was confused, discombobulated, but most of all I was tired of running through the darkness as it pushed down me. The uncertainty, the unknown, and with that the doubts. All washed away from this bright light I called hope.

I finally arrived. It looked familiar. The oval portal showed an image of a... planet?

It looked familiar. I touched it, then was sucked into the bright unknown. Willingly.

The light guides me out of the darkness, but now I experienced painful reverberations throughout my soul. Memories that were once mine, were given back to me. As I came onto the planet, and a body was awaiting me, I had been born anew, and a sense of purpose instilled into me. I am David.

The planet was called Earth. I sat in my room contemplating my past, my future, and present. An apocalypse would happen, and I would be a champion among billions. 10,000 people chosen to lead humanity into the stars. A system to guide them. Competition to push out our potential. But we failed. Alien life were technologically superior. United. But the humans bred like rabbits compared to the aliens as humans were overall stronger with numbers, but were divided. The system that brought us together also split us apart for its rewards.

But that had nothing to do with me. Or did it?

I was well known for all the wrong reasons. My past self had been too trusting. Too naive. He got betrayed after he reached the perceived end of the apocalypse. They never crossed him, because he was too strong, but when the entirety of humanity was against him, while denying his achievements? His spirit crumbled. My past self took over a plot of land, and that is the story of how one of the greatest strategists, and soldier lived a life of luxury controlling a single planet.

My goal?

To be the one of the strongest Overlords.

What happens after?

Well maybe I'll just rest a little.

Yeah those memories might've affected me more then I thought. Interesting, yet terrifying.

Interesting, because I could not recollect anything more than what I have thought about, terrifying, because I don't have memories of why exactly I have come back.

I need to learn more, but first I sleep.

OLD-WORLD EXTRA

{Check out my new novel, Misunderstood Villain: Heroines Mourn My Death} 'Born In Ruins' was a forgettable read. That was the only way Emir could describe the pages of the novel he had found himself reincarnated into. The young man barely knew anything, but the snippets he had recalled only caused him unending sorrow... As what awaited him was only tragedy and an early death. It was a depressing story, one that he had planned to flip on its head—all for his salvation. — In this post-apocalyptic world, monsters fought humans and cyborgs in a battle for survival on a scale greater than ever before. A world where innocence and death were a luxury, where the line between heroes and villains was razor-thin. Within its expanse, 'Ancient Clans,' 'Galactic Federations,' 'Factions', and 'Corporations' presided over colossal 'Ruins' that dwarfed the concept of life itself. Survivors of the 'Third World War' continuously dove into the 'Old World,' 'Hunting' for 'Relics' in any ruin that they could find on Earth, desperate to reclaim 'Lost' technology, to stand a fighting chance against the inevitable. But it appeared that 'Earthkind' had met their match. …However, Emir would never allow that fate to take its course. — Emir unraveled layers of the tale and realized the truth of the world. He acquainted himself with the rules of this game before it fully consumed him. And now... no longer content with mere survival, he sought to dominate over the very fabric of this unforgiving universe. Emir shall rise from the pawn he once was, seeking to unravel the mysteries that hounded him. The boundaries of 'Aether,' his father’s disappearance, the noose hanging above his family’s head, and of course… his starless destiny, a fate he longed to control. This pursuit would earn him the epithet: "Prince Of The Fallen." ---------------------------------------------- *Tags: Reincarnation ;), Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Magical Realism, Academy (Volume 3), Romance, Apocalypse, {Anti-Hero. Villain.} *Expect this novel to start slowly; it begins ramping up at the halfway point of volume 1. *The Magic System is introduced at the end of volume 1, read my review and Auxiliary chapter for more on that. *Warning: The main characters have emotions like proper humans. So don't expect your usual emo kid as the MC and come complaining later.
