Death

"My problem's way bigger than yours. You know why I don't even talk to you when you get home?" Carol gave him a sarcastic smile. "It's because you keep messing things up. Do you even remember throwing the pasta I made for you? Do you know how much that hurt me? I spent a lot of time trying to find a new recipe but you just think—"

"I'm the one paying for the food anyway. All you have to do is cook." Dave rolled his eyes.

"Do you still not get it? I cook with love! I do everything with love!"

"Then I apologize for that."

"That won't change anything."

"I guess we both made a mistake in the past, but despite everything, I still love you..."

"Whatever. I'm staying in the guest room tonight." Carol started walking away.

Dave smiled. "I won't let you leave me. I can't afford to lose you, Carol..."

Meanwhile...

(At Sunnies Cafe)

As Jacob and Nicholas sat in front of the restaurant, wondering what they should say to each other, Nicholas abruptly called the waitress to take their order.

"A cup of black coffee." Nicholas told the waitress, looking at Jacob. "And you?"

"Just water." Jacob looked away.

"You're order will be ready in twenty minutes sir," the waitress said, walking away.

"So what did you want to meet me for?" Nicholas leaned back on his chair.

"I just miss hanging out with you. It's been quite a while since we last saw each other." Jacob smiled.

"You have something to tell me don't you?"

"Nothing. I just miss hanging out."

"That's not like you. What's going on?"

"Umm...Do you know anyone that holds a grudge against you?"

Nicholas put his hand under his chin. "None, I think."

Jacob scratched his head. "Well... how about your—"

"Get straight to the point."

After hearing Nicholas say that, Jacob took a deep breath before finally telling Nicholas about the mysterious man that attempted to kill him. At first, Nicholas thought that he was just making things up, but when Jacob mentioned his mother's death, that's where Nicholas' smile faded away.

"You're mother died...because you didn't help him kill me?" Nicholas clenched his fist. "If he has a grudge against me then he shouldn't go after other people."

"I first got the call a few days after Ella came back from abroad." Jacob looked at the window beside him. "My mother's innocent... She doesn't deserve to—"

"I'm sorry...for putting you and your mother in danger. If only I knew...I would've rushed to help you right away, but why didn't you just ask us for help?"

"Isn't it obvious? He told me not to."

"He'll never know."

"He knows everything about me. Remember the time when we went to the resort? He knew I was there..."

"Does he still contact you until now?"

"It's been half a year since he did." Jacob took a deep breath. "It must be because he can't threaten me now that my mother's dead."

"Have you told Molly and the others?" Nicholas took a sip of his coffee.

"Except Peter and Ella of course. You know I don't trust them."

"Well why don't you?"

"Peter doesn't give a damn about it so what's the use of telling him? He won't be able to help anyway."

"Do you want me to tell the pol—"

"We don't have abundance evidence yet." Jacob shook his head. "I might even get killed before we can even figure out who he is or what his intentions are."

"He might be holding a grudge against my father, not me."

"He told me that he wanted you dead."

"My father has a lot of competitors. Maybe that guy's just one of them."

"I don't think that's the—"

"Trust me." Nicholas patted his shoulder and smiled. "I know my father too well."
