Chapter 1 Fall of the Empress

Lesa felt the betrayal of everyone in the throne room as she felt all eyes were on her. She was accused of being a witch, and without a second thought, her husband locked her up.

The room itself felt cold, and the gazes of the nobles were colder as they watched her struggle to walk in chains. In front of her was calm and cruel Emperor, Xavier Cartier.

"Former Empress, Lesa Estrees of the Count Estrees family. How do you plead?"

"Not guilty! I have not done anything wrong!"

"Lesa... Do you not admit to witchcraft? Your sister has witnessed you casting spells under the guise of witchcraft. How do you plead?"

Lesa was genuinely confused about how her adopted sister could do this to her. How her sister lied, her sister was smiling on the Emperor's side. Her sister was dressed in finery made for a queen as if she were to be replaced. Her hair was pinned in ringlets, and her face contorted into a coquettish look.

"Mikaela, you-"

Lesa lounged forward only to be kicked back into place as her disheveled appearance caused her bangs to cover her eyes.

"Now, sister, you know that witchcraft is forbidden, yet you told me that you will love to practice it. Is it to take out the Emperor with the dark arts?"

Lesa's eyes widened as she looked up at the smiling woman she called a sister. Her older sister, Mikaela, was a coquettish woman. She gets what she wants even though behind her smile is a lie.

"Mikaela, you know me! I never have done those things! I could kill the family simply by coveting the dark arts! Why would I endanger the family, including you!"

Mikaela tilted her head with the same disturbing smile as if everything was fine.

That's when deep down Lesa felt something was truly wrong with Mikaela. Xavier broke the silence quickly.

"That's right, I allow Mikaela to be here because she has told me of your evil deeds! To think a woman like you have tried to please God but have coveted the dark arts! Tell me witch have you feed me lies and poisons?!"

"NEVER YOUR MAJESTY! Never...!" Lesa's chest heaven up and down as she finished screaming at the Emperor. She had a genuinely worried look of why his majesty wanted to dispose of her.

"Lesa, my dear Lesa, we can not have a witch for an empress. You are sentenced to death at the wake-up of dawn. Witch burning."

"What?!" Lesa screamed as she jerked around, trying to break the hold.

"Lesa!! Don't you dare make a mockery of our love by performing these dark arts! You promised to be pure and good to God's nature during our marriage. All in all, it is your fault."

Xavier looked at Lesa with a malicious grin as he belittled her in every way. Lesa couldn't help but sit there and feel lost. She was a good empress to her people and a good person to all. She was even crowned the Holy Empress.

What went wrong? Then something crossed her mind, and it was finally clicking.

"Hah, you want me gone...so you can have Mikaela as your empress! I see your game, Xavier, and you have everyone on your side!"

Xavier stared at the girl who went crazy for w minute. As she lunged forward a bit in anger, the Emperor took it as a threat.

"Guards!! Tie this wench up and bring her to a cell to await her death!!"

"No!!" Lesa screamed as she was dragged away as her sister looked at her with disdain, and the Emperor did as well. All the nobles looked away, and the servants looked turned into pure hatred.

The next morning, Lesa was reminded that her end was unavoidable. As she burned, she glanced at the faces in the crowd. The heads of her family members are on stakes. The crowd chanting...

"Kill the witch! Kill the witch!"

Lesa closed her eyes as the flames consumed her body and soul. The burning agony was so much that she let out on scream as the blaze consumed her. Mikaela watched next to Xavier as he coddled her from seeing her once her sister burned to ashes.

"Mikaela, don't watch. Your suffering is over. That witch used a spell to pray on your downfall to bewitched your brother to do such a disgraceful thing to a lady."

"Where is he, your majesty?" Mikaela asked innocently as she leaned on him being the coquettish two-face woman she could be.

"He is castrated and tortured in the dungeons soon to be sent to far worse death than your sister, and as you see, I executed the whole family."

Mikaela smiled at the thought, but Lesa was burning at the stake in agony as she couldn't bear it anymore. Suddenly, the pain stopped, and the burning warmth of the flame was no more.

'Am I finally dead?'

"Lesa." Lesa was afraid to open her eyes, but she opened them anyway to see a figure whose bright light blinded her.

"Lesa, you have failed in this life to achieve happiness and to destroy those who wish harm."

Lesa was unable to speak as her soul drifted towards the light. The figure slowly turned around a gracious figure of a man with ancient clothes fit for a God. His eyes beamed of only white and his face of handsome features. The light still shined behind him ever so brightly.

"Lesa, I'll give you another chance at life, but my only mission for you is to destroy the empire that has betrayed you! The empire has forgotten, the people of your life have turned against you and has committed sins against the Heavenly principles."

Lesa was still unable to speak, but she nodded her head in agreement as she thought of the scenes before she died. Lesa smirked and nodded some more.

"Good and Lesa, I will give you one parting gift as the figure came close to her and kissed her forehead. As the figure passed, the Holy mark appeared on her forehead.

"Be the saintess of the country of Warren, the crown prince was looking for a foreign wife with this mark on your head you will be chosen it's up to you how you use this holy mark. The problem is escaping your country."

Lesa touched the mark on her head in gratitude, and the figure nodded as he sent her soul flying through the cosmos like a shooting star into her next life.

... "Lesa, may you find comfort in your next life, and don't forget your purpose!"...

Lesa opened her eyes to find herself in her bedroom. As she looked around, she noticed the maid in the corner, and the date on the calendar was circled on the day of the engagement.

"Susana!" Lesa called out to the maid who was humming and filled the water dish with Rose. Petals suddenly jumped, and the petals went flying.

"My lady! You are up early! You must rest for tonight's ball." Lesa shook her head as she got up and walked towards Susana.

"Susana, what is Mikaela doing today?"

"She went to visit young Master Eli."

"What!?" Lesa got up and ran towards the spot that Eli and Mikaela usually played.

'Today is the day that Mikaela will also confine in the crown prince that Eli has touched her! Mikaela lied about in her last life, but the prince believed her! Eli's suffering was cruel, and he was innocent. I have to catch Eli before tonight and spend the day with him!'

Lesa ran out to the garden in only her nightgown and one slipper on. As Susana chased after her.

"Young lady Estrees! You are not dressed appropriately!"

'Sorry, Susana, I have to stop this meeting!'

Lesa was hellbent on fixing this life to the fullest, and no one can stop her.
