Who are you?

Noah squinted and warned Ruby through his glowing dark eyes. The sprinkles of innocence, the warmth that should have been there, and the melting snowflakes that had been emerging from Noah's radiant gaze were gone in an instant. Moreover, his body was shifting uncomfortably as if he was barely able to hold his posture to be brave.

Ruby's acute senses could see the little details she wouldn't have cared for before. There were drops of sweat hanging on his forehead. His shoulders were raised stiffly as if he was waiting for the punishment to come. It was quite weird.

Her fingers twitched. Normally, Ruby's fingers would have swept those smooth black hair by now. Nonetheless, Ruby wiped away her smile and let out a muffled grunt. Straightening her back, she pointed to the door.

"Let's go."

Noah's tension relaxed a bit. His wary countenance faded. When he walked first, Ruby stayed in her place. Only after there was a safe distance between them, did Ruby hear a crisp voice calling her.

"Hey."

"Yeah?"

Oliver accurately judged Noah's behavior, "He's nervous. Please understand him." Subsequently, Oliver said, not minding shedding Noah's fur, "Noah's not honest."

The corner of Ruby's enchanting red lips quirked up, forming a beautiful line on her somewhat lukewarm expression.

"And you are?" Ruby's voice tinged in sarcasm, and Oliver just cheekily smile. His eyes bent like a crescent moon, which further increase his adorableness.

Ruby smirked. Several times, Ruby marveled at their similar flaw.

The trip to the primary school was surrounded by silence. On such a rare occasion where there are just the two of them, Ruby didn't take the initiative to lighten the mood as she always did. Her vision stuck to the road. She never bothered to pretend like an easygoing person with pits in her brain. Noah squeezed the corner of his shirt. He felt that it wasn't usual for Ruby to become a statue.

Ruby looked at his clenched palm, and her mouth moved, but in the end, no sound came out of her already shut lips.

When they arrived at the place, Noah couldn't wait to jump out of the car. His shoes squeaked the moment it touches the ground.

The primary school's location was exuberantly good for children to study. The school was located inside a wealthy housing area. The security was tight. Ruby encountered the security guard who patrolled the streets on her way to the school. Her heart settled seeing that.

There was a lake nearby and it was encircled by a gorgeous flower garden befitting its surrounding.

It was quiet and peaceful, perfect for studying. Ruby deduced it was to help children concentrate, which is great.

They walked for a while before a middle-aged woman carrying books in her hands saw them from afar. She hurriedly approached them.

"Is there something I can help with, young lady?"

"Yes. I'm looking for Teacher Yerin. Perhaps, do you know where she is?"

"Teacher Yerin?" The middle-aged woman seemed surprised.

"Yes."

"Oh. It's me. You must be Miss Ruby, I assume?"

Ruby was taken aback. "Yes." Ruby gave way for Noah to step forward, afterward introducing him in a gentle tone.

"This is Noah. The other is Oliver, but he didn't come with us."

Teacher Yerin's eyes fell on Noah. She softly smiled, then she brought them to her office on the second floor. The teacher led them to sit on a cozy couch in the middle of the room where there was a natural bright shine coming from the window. Elevating the warm atmosphere around them.

Ruby replied to every formal question Teacher Yerin asked in a graceful demeanor. An amiable smile was always plastered on Ruby's face. No matter how sensitive or difficult the thing Teacher Yerin inquired about, no cracks could be seen on Ruby. All in all, Ruby had mastered her poker face perfectly so that anybody would view her as a delicate, sweet young lady.

Teacher Yerin acknowledged the young miss as the twins' guardian. However, she was ready to dig a little deeper.

"I heard Miss Ruby isn't Noah and Oliver's real mother?"

"Yes." Ruby paused for a moment. She pursed her lips and blinked intermittently. The color of her face became pale. Ruby turned her head sideways to face the window. The distinct hazel eyes looking up at the sky dazedly were beautiful.

Long, dense eyelashes spread their mysterious lovely wings every single time Ruby blinked. Her hair swayed, the strands of it were blurring Ruby's delicate face, causing a different kind of alluring charm.

Teacher Yerin's mouth opened wide. She was truly astonished by the scenery in front of her. Teacher Yerin thought a background doesn't matter, as long as Ruby was there, the picture coming out would be so otherworldly. The aura emitted from Ruby was too unreal and dreamy-like, making the middle-aged woman's heartbeat in tandem with Noah, who secretly paid attention. Although Noah didn't show it blatantly as the teacher did.

Ruby began her story once she had gathered the teacher's full attention.

"It was a coincidence when I met Noah and Oliver. I admit that I'm not a saint, but after I momentarily took care of them, their presence warm my heart. They filled up the void I didn't know I have and turned me into a complete person. They are the light of the life I've been waiting for. A very precious, dear people that grace me with love, the thing I lacked the most."

"Even though you might think I'm still young. That I hadn't experienced the world. I'm not blind."

"I can feel it. Noah and Oliver mean so much to me. I like them. I wanted them to be with me always and I wanted to be there for them. That's why I adopted them."

By this point, Noah couldn't distinguish between lies and the truth anymore. Not that Noah thought it was important, just, that it would be nice if it was true.

Ruby was shaking throughout her storytime. Her hands shook like leaves. She was so emotional, that it stung the teacher's heart. Teacher Yerin was thoroughly cooked by Ruby's sweet talking.

Teacher Yerin wiped her tears while vigorously nodding at Ruby's words, expressing her understanding and silently rooting for Ruby.

"I understand."

Ruby was relieved. She heaved a sigh before quickly begging in a soft voice, "Then, could you... notified me first if something happens? I don't think I should trouble my brother for the boys' matter. I will also appreciate it if you don't tell anyone about me being their adopted mother. I can't let Noah and Oliver be bothered by this."

"Of course! I will do as you say, Miss Ruby."

Ruby was satisfied with the result. Therefore, Ruby easily stepped aside for Noah's interview. Teacher Yerin originally didn't have to get both of the twins' confirmation on this whole matter, but now the teacher was excited. She was very much willing to dig some more.

Since it would take a while, Ruby thought to get some fresh air.

There was a shortcut from the school to the flower garden, however, Ruby was in the mood to stroll so she took the longer path. The path leading to the flower garden was thru the sidewalk on the street.

In the middle of walking, a black Maybach came from the opposite direction. The speed the car drove was fast. Ruby had little time to discreetly glimpsed at the black window on the back passenger the moment they passed by each other. Though, it's a shame nothing could be seen.

Ruby probably had no idea the light glimpsed she did could affect the person inside.

The man leaning on the back seat froze. His stone-cold face was stunned.

A beautiful silhouette. A charming presence. A familiar gaze. Everything lingered in his head, banging his bank of memory viciously. Forcing him to endure an intense headache.

"Stop the car!" The man shouted at the top of his lungs.

Ckitttt

"Young Master?! What's wrong?!"

Bang!

The car door was slammed open. Vega stumbled his way out of the car and tripped over the ground before he managed to stand. Even though his step was unsteady, he tried to keep walking. Yet he was too slow. He wouldn't be able to chase that person in this case.

Holding a hand on his head, Vega grabbed a pen from his pocket and stabbed it hard into his thigh.

"Urgh!"

The pain of the deep wounds outweighed the headache. Vega's sharp eyes were scarlet red.

He didn't care. The voice in his heart told him to chase that person!
