Chp 42 : Paper Weight?

The next day, Ari came to the orphanage to visit him for a working purpose. He already asked for forgiveness from Ari and he promised to play at least one film per year.

"Seriously Al, I told you it's okay. I have promised you that you will do as you like and won't receive any CAA arrangements. Besides, I got more clients this day and only got 2 hours of sleep every day!"

"But your clients still not yet turns into an A-list right? So I know you got less earning than your effort. At least with my pay, you can finally buy a Ferrari that you always wanted right?" He teased Ari.

"Is everyone already knew that I want a Ferrari!?" Ari sighed. "Here Al, this paper I brought could at least weight 7kg."

Ari gave Al scripts that he could choose from. There were at least more than 30 scripts that Ari gave to Al.

Al then told Jessica to organize it and classified them based on genre. Then he would check it all one by one.

The scripts he rejected, he would put on his left side, and the one he considered to play, he would put on his right.

After few minutes of screening, almost the scripts Ari gave to Al were on his left side, the one on his right side... was still the orange juice that Jessica gave to him.

Finally, after more than 1 hour, Al put something on his right side.

Few hours passed again, he put another one, and finally, the script that Ari gives is all gone, 20ish script on his left and 3 on his right side.

Ari saw the script of <Top Gun>, <Ferris Bueller's Day Off> and <Lucas>.

"Only three?" Ari was having a black line. He carried more than 7 kg mass of paper and Al only choose three of them.

Al ignored his complaint face and said, "<Top Gun> doesn't really need acting skill only rely on a pretty face, but I'm sure the box office will be a good one."

The original cast is Tom Cruise, and although he was sure able to steal the role from him, Top Gun was just only a movie catwalk, the plot was bland and monotone. He will fight with the producer or director because of some difference in opinion if he plays it.

Then he showed <Lucas>, "This one is a good inspirational story, but I'm not sure the director or producer will agree if I play as the main actor. The setting of the main lead is 14 years old same as me but he must be weak and thin, I can start doing a hard diet but it will affect my health if I'm doing it on my puberty periods." Al sighed at this missed opportunity.

The original cast of Lucas is Corey Haim, who not yet enter the growth period, so his skinny and short stature is a match to the current Lucas, but for him who height 178 cm he doubts it.

He could take Cappie that played by Charlie Sheen but it would make him a supporting actor and the producer would not agree with his pay in that film.

His sight turned to the last one,<Ferris Bueller>, "This one is my top priority, its new type of comedy, maybe a bit like <Airplane> which break the 4th wall a bit, but I'm sure it could become a classic."

"A fourth what?" Ari asked him confusedly, same as Jessica who sat near him and read all the scripts because she was bored.

"Imagine me that could communicate with the audience at home from a movie screen." He took a few examples.

"You mean like some spoof movies?" Jessica got more curious about the scripts.

"Yep like spoof movie, but this is not a parody. I think I want to try it. Ari, I choose this one."

"You got it, boss, so the standard pay?"

"Standard one."

What he meant was 15+15, which means 15 million with box office 15% of North America, that's the standard payment for A-list who could carry the movie by stars alone.

In the future when CAA reign is unchallenged, they could ask straight 20+20 contract.

"You want to buy a land in there?"

At present time, Mary was observing a cliff with binoculars. She accepted Al's offer for accompanying him to buy land and he will build a mansion on it.

But what she didn't expect was that the land Al wanted to buy was located in a deserted place of Malibu.

Malibu in the 80s is different in the 21st century, the land still owned by Californian Governments and still not yet become a city, all just a cliff that led to some hidden beach.

The new Californian Governor plans to build a new city here, so far the roads have been made, and he had seen one or two villas on their way to here.

The land Al was planning to buy was the one on the most southern parts of Malibu, The Point Dume.

Mary takes another look at Al in case he was trying to prank her.

"You're right, you're not kidding." Mary was having black lines on her face after seeing the seriousness of Al's face.

He smiled and said, "I already ask James to start negotiations with the Governor of California, he offers us $15 millions for 25,000 sq ft., we try to lower it. Who knew this land is so cheap."

Mary pinched his cheek and said, "Cheap!? Since when I teach you the words 'cheap'. Cheap my ass! It was really expensive for a piece of land! Why don't you buy a house in Beverly Hills! At least with $5 million, you could buy a mansion with 1 acre of land!" Al said 'Mary' many times but his words were unheard.

She continued to pinch his cheeks harder than before and said, "And the land you want to buy? At least it needs another $10 million to build a house and another $5 million to enhanced the cliff and made connecting roads to your house."

Then she let go of Al's cheek, and she realized that this was Al that she was talking to. The normal Al already makes her lose her hair, what about the rich Al. She was afraid he would have built a nuclear reactor if he wanted to.

She should've expected it, maybe she was having a mood swing today.

"I apologize, Mary, my idea seems crazy but trust me, this definitely worth it. Besides, I already bought a mansion in Beverly Hills a few days ago for $7.5 million. It's about 8000 square feet with 6 bedrooms."

Mary sighed, "I'm sorry Al, maybe I was having a mood swing these days. I'm still trying to adapt to this new working environment."

Now Al became guilty, "Me too Mary, it seems my request for you become the CEO has been a burden to you."

He went silent for a while and then suddenly shouted. "I got an idea! What you need is a vacation! Let's go to Disneyland today, my treat."

"How about the kids? they must be really wanted to go there." She said, looking at Al with a guilty expression.

"Relax, I will take them at Christmas or New Year, let's go! They said the best vacation plan is that no plan at all."

On the evening after their lookout, Al took Mary to Disneyland, disguising themselves up, he also brought his assistant and driver slash bodyguards.

Both of them were having a time of their life and for the first time in this year, Mary seemed to lose all of her burdens because of works.

Al also bought Mary a Minnie Mouse headband and he placed it in Mary's head himself.

Mary's demeanor shaken and her heart spiked for a moment, 'Calm down Mary, he's your little brother.'

"Thank you, Al." She smiled.

"Nobody going out of Disneyland without wearing their headbands." He smiled and took Mary to other rides.

After they have done having their vacation, they rode back to the orphanage.

In the car, Mary said, "That's fun, we should do this again and take the kids."

"Not Jodie?" He started to tease Mary.

Without knowing the hint Al gave her, she said, "Why her? I know, she's your crush and your hormones are screaming right?" She teased Al.

"But this will be a family outing." She said seriously.

Knowing that she didn't take any of his hints, he tried again, "Ok then I accept your reason but I want to ask you something by the way."

Mary nodded and let him continue, "You know, I see you always stress out about work, so how is your sex life?"

"Okay, you want to get a punch in your right face or left side?" She was taking out an iron knuckles from the bag.

Al who now having a cold sweat hurriedly said, "Wait wait listen to my explanation first! So Jodie and you have nothing going on?"

"What? What is going on with her anyway?"

He sighed and said, "You don't get the clue do you"

"What the hell did you mean?" Then Al tells her to remember every interaction with Jodie and Al told her the meaning of any of the hints Jodie has made.

"Oh....." Mary was too confused about how she should react to it.

"Yeah 'Oh' that's your reaction?"

She rubbed her temple and said, "How the hell did you know anyway?"

"I got some radar that could detect someone's preference" He can't say to Mary that in 2021, there's a gender education shit that Americans need to learn if they don't want to offend those genderless people.

So Al was forced to learn the subtle hints of those people do to determine their preference, the normal society tried to stop that 'leftard' from growing but in 2021, their numbers increase, and making chaos and anarchy everywhere that forced governments to accept their terms.

Leftard is a term for uneducated unrealistic leftists who are too idealistic, way beyond the lines.

"But how did you know? Did you have any friends who are like that?"

"Well Robin, for example, she's so into Ione you know."

"What? I thought she was into you!"

"That is why you need to learn how to take hints." He said wisely, "Besides, Robin's personality is too cute, doesn't that make you want to take her as a little sister."

"Al you should stop this little sister's collecting tendency! They are not pets. What a shame, you two could make such a cute couple together." Mary sighed and still thinking about how to react to Jodie and Robin being a lesbian.

"Okay, we need to stop this conversation, you seem overload with it, I'll buy you an ice cream."

At night when she was sleeping, suddenly Mary having some kind of nightmare where she had a quad some with Jodie, Robin, and Al.
