Chapter Two

Ivory's pov

A light shines through my window into my eyes and wakes me up. Greeted by the full moon, the Goddess who is shining down on me. I check the time; it's just after midnight, the perfect time to go and do what I have to do. The patrols are changing, so no one will be out, but it is a concise window, so I better get going. I grab my sweater and jump from my window; I hit the ground, trying not to make much noise. I don't want to draw anyone's attention from inside the packhouse. I quietly take off to the east, where the cliffs overlook the waters, and I have to be careful when I cross the borders into the Moon Stone pack grounds, but it is worth it to see the water with the moon before I finally get a chance at peace.

It takes about twenty minutes before I make it to the border. I hear movement, so I hide in a bush still on our side. I wait for the movement to go away and for everything quiet again. I poke my head out and take a look around. I don't see anyone, so I cross over and quietly make my way to the cliffs that aren't too far. Finally getting to the cliffs, I can feel the cool stones beneath my feet as I make my way to the edge looking over the oddly beautiful and bright black waters. The moon was bright and beautiful as it reflected in the water. I stood there and just looked out at the beauty in front of me. "Mom, I'm sorry for everything. I should have listened to you better. I deserve everything I've gone through, it's my punishment, but I can't do this anymore. Mom, I am sorry." I stand there talking out to the water l hear a branch snap from off to my left. I snapped around, and there stood a wolf as it let a loud snarl out at me. It shifts, and this guy stands before me, "Move away from the cliff and get on the ground." He barks at me, but I'm too scared to move. I feel the very edge of the cliff with my heel. I go to step off the edge when he snatches me up and slams me to the ground darkness starts to come in and out as two more wolves come up, but then darkness takes over completely, but I hear one word before passing out. "Mate…?"

I wake up to a soft beeping of a machine, and my head is killing me as I slowly try to open my eyes. Everything is blurry at first as it starts to settle. I noticed that the beeping I heard was coming from a heart monitor next to me. I was lying in a hospital bed wearing a gown. I start to feel a bit panicked, but soon I fall back to sleep hiding in the darkness again. Again I hear that word… "Mate…?"
