Hate and Obsession

KNOCK KNOCK!

"Madam, it's time for your breakfast."

That morning greeting woke a woman from her daze. Her long black hair flowed freely while her firm eyebrows furrowed when she heard the same greeting voice every morning. Her slender fingers twitched as if to confirm that the effects of the anesthesia really no longer affected her body's nerves.

"Madam, I will go in now."

Alexa turned her head when the door to her room finally opened. A girl dressed as a maid came in while pushing a trolley filled with food in her hands. She stopped beside her bed, deftly setting up a small table, right in front of Alexa.

"The doctor said you can eat slightly heavier food, Madam. Therefore, today, I made you soup and sandwiches for breakfast, along with honey milk as a drink."

Like a professional maid, the girl started serving the food she brought to the small dining table. Alexa watched the girl's movements in silence, apparently trying to remember the name of the girl who had always visited her since she first opened her eyes.

"You... are Rika, aren't you?" Alexa asked uncertainly. The girl turned to look at her and smiled slightly as she straightened her body again.

"Yes. I'm Rika, Madam," she informed her.

For a moment, Alexa could see that Rika's brown eyes briefly looked surprised, as if she didn't expect Alexa to remember her name any time soon. There was a strange flash a moment after Rika revealed her name. Alexa didn't know what the flash meant, but she didn't get a good feeling about it.

"Is there anything else I can help you with, Madam?"

But in a short time, Rika returned to her usual smiling appearance. Alexa started thinking. Her eyes occasionally tried to see other changes in that smiling face. But there was nothing. The girl named Rika no longer showed any other emotions after the flash of surprise that escaped her expression for a short time.

"My husband, why doesn't he also visit me?" Alexa asked curiously. Her hand moved to spoon the soup while waiting for an answer. Not bad, she thought. It feels very comfortable to be able to hold a spoon without shaking in both hands.

"Mr. Dominic is on important business elsewhere, Madam. He will be back tonight or tomorrow at the latest. But he left me a message, hoping that you will wake up soon and be able to talk to him again like before," Rika smoothly replied. Alexa sneered secretly in her heart. How busy is someone who claims to be her husband that he can't even visit his wife, who has just woken up from a coma?

But in the end, Alexa couldn't complain out loud. She didn't even know what her husband looked like or what his character was like.

Alexa wakes up without any memory of her previous life. The only person who accompanied her when she opened her eyes was Rika and a doctor who diligently checked her condition every day.

After finding out that Alexa had lost her memory, Rika began to tell her about a life that her master didn't remember as much as she could. Rika said that Alexa is the wife of a man named Dominic. Then, Rika also said that Alexa fell into a coma when she accidentally slipped down the stairs. 

She also said that Dominic is a very busy man. He hasn't even been home since Alexa woke up a few days ago.

With how unfamiliar she felt in that big place, and the only person who could answer her questions never came to visit her, Alexa was just passive when she first opened her eyes. Not to mention her body was still very weak due to the effects of anesthesia at the start of her consciousness period. Alexa hasn't talked much since she woke up and only frowns occasionally when she's thinking about something.

But now that her body has fully recovered, Alexa is starting to look for her memories. She quickly finished her food before looking at Rika, who was still faithfully watching her with a small smile.

"Can I take a walk around the house? I'm bored of staying in my room," she said calmly. Rika frowned before politely taking out her cell phone.

"Let me ask Mr. Dominic's permission first, Madam," said Rika politely. Now, it was Alexa's turn to frown. Really? She has to ask her husband's permission just to hang out in that house?

Seeing Alexa's dissatisfied expression, Rika immediately hung up the call when her master had answered. Rika steps up to tidy the empty plate in front of Alexa. Keeping it on the table at once, while gives Alexa a little understanding.

"Please try to understand Mr. Dominic's intention, Madam. Mr. Dominic's job is very dangerous, so many people are always trying to target his life and those around him. This house is equipped with sufficient security. However, Mr. Dominic just wants to ensure that security is increased every time times you want to leave the room," she explained. Alexa was silent. She slowly lowered her feet to the floor that she had not stepped on for several days.

"Dangerous? What kind of work is my husband doing?" Alexa asked curiously. Rika approached her when Alexa swayed a little, helped her stand straight, and got used to a position she hadn't been in for a long time.

"I'm sorry, Madam. I think it's a good idea for you to directly ask Mr. Dominic that question. I don't have enough qualifications to carelessly talk about Mr. Dominic's work."
