Uchiha are a Different Breed

Naruto had a somewhat crazy and possibly brilliant or incredibly dumb plan. He'd take the time to think it through after.

Currently he was standing by a lake on the Uchiha Compound, observing one Sasuke Uchiha attempt a Jutsu.

'Here goes nothing'

"You need help with that?"

"Wha- how are you here?"

"There wasn't much stopping me."

"There's a 20 foot wall and an entire clan of Shinobi, why are you here?"

"Because I wanted to be, you need help?"

"What could you possibly help with? Please leave."

Naruto proceeded to walk across the lake towards Sasuke. The boy went wide-eyed.

"This, and you're making hand signs that don't exist."

"What the he- wait, don't exist!?"

"Yeup."

"But I- am I close at least? Wait no, I'm an Uchiha, you don't tell me what to do."

"I can't tell you what to do, but I can tell you how to make a handsign."

Naruto walked to stand next to him. They continued bickering for about an hour, but Sasuke did learn, and eventually sent a decent sized fireball across the lake. In his excitement, he applied himself more, sending more fireballs across the water.

"You're still inefficient with chakra. Not that I'm much better, but still."

"Huh, guess you are worth slightly more than most. But you're still not an Uchiha!"

Naruto just stared at him.

"How were you standing on the lake?"

"A lot of chakra directed towards my feet. Kinda brute forcing it though, my control would've broken fast."

Before Sasuke could respond, Itachi arrived.

"Why are you on Uchiha property?"

"There wasn't much stopping me."

"We have a rather large wall."

"In a city of Ninja."

"It's still unwise to enter Uchiha land. I must take you to the Clan head. You're lucky no one injured you."

"That wouldn't go well for them. In any way."

"And why is that?"

"Because I'm a village asset."

*That* put Itachi on guard.

"... Uzumaki-san."

"Yeup, shall we see your Tou-san now?"

Sasuke just looked confused.

Fugaku Uchiha just about jumped when Itachi brought Naruto into his office. Why Naruto was here, he didn't know, but dear kami it was not what he was expecting right now. Seeing the boy's face shot a mixture of emotions through him, mostly regret. Still, being near a Jinchuruki was rarely a good thing.

"Uzumaki-san was found on our property."

"...is that so. Is there any particular reason, Uzumaki-san?"

"There wasn't much stopping me."

"Other than the 20 foot wall and entire clan."

"You guys keep talking like it's difficult to climb a 20 foot wall."

"It's the principal- whatever. Could you please not enter our land without, say, telling us?"

"I can stop your clan from going into near extinction."

"W-What?!"

'What does he know?'

"That comment was for Itachi, buh-bye!"

With that, Naruto sprinted out the office door, somehow remaining quiet. Fugaku didn't stop the boy as he had been taken off guard.

Itachi was very, very nervous..

Fugaku was shell shocked.

'That was dumb. That was incredibly dumb. Why did I do that? I shouldn't have done that.'

What he did wasn't smart or well thought out, but he had spent far too much time thinking about a way to stop the massacre without taking action.

Naruto started the academy the next day, he didn't have much time to stop the massacre, but maybe, just maybe, he'd save a few. But it was a shot in the dark at this point.

For now, his next project was under way. He had been practicing calligraphy his entire time in this world, in preparation for Fuinjutsu. He wasn't even close to the sheer level of math that went into the subject, but he'd make it there. 40 clones were working on research for the subject, as well as review for the academy; he'd wait for a couple hours while they finished up.

Naruto decided to go to the river. The river had been a safe place for him this last year, whenever he wasn't training with Lee, researching, practicing chakra control, or practicing Kanji, he was here. He loved to watch the current, to see the life that surrounded the water.

Movement caught his eye further down the bank. Shino and Shibi Aburame were searching in the silt, placing whatever they found in glass jars.

"Hello."

Shibi looked up and made eye contact through his glasses.

"Uzumaki-san."

"Do you guys want help?"

"I… presume. We're looking for Sowbugs in the banks for a new Colony."

"Okay."

"Shino, please show Uzumaki-san how to find them"

"Yes father."

Looking for the crustaceans with Shino was fun, if rather quiet. They were apparently used as food for certain types of predator insects.

Shino didn't talk much, but he didn't seem uncomfortable with my presence, which was enough of a deviation from the norm to be enough for Naruto.
