"What do you mean by Kaia is back," the two men suddenly heard a voice and they turned back to see Kaia standing at the entrance of the kitchen, staring at them with questions in her eyes.
Melvin turned to look at Cole, expecting him to speak but he didn't. Instead, he quietly took a sip out of his glass.
'Betrayer,' Melvin cursed in his mind as he looked at him pitifully.
"I think I asked a question," Kaia said once more.
"Ahh, I think you misheard me, seriously, I don't think I said Kaia is back," Melvin said while scratching his hair.
He only hoped that she believed him but he was aware that it was a futile effort. The Kaia he knew had always been observant and even though she might have lost her memories, he was sure her personality hadn't changed.
"Really, but I think my ears are working perfectly," as expected, she didn't believe what he said.
"Listen, the thing is, it's really complicated, I don't know how to put it and besides, I'm not the one who's going to tell you about it, he is the one who's ready to tell you," Melvin hastily dumped of explaining to Cole, who he pointed at.
"That's it, I'm tired of trying to know what you guys are hiding from me, it's becoming exhausting, will you guys tell me or not?" Kaia asked, though she knew they won't but she had to try.
The confusion within her was becoming so much and she felt frustrated from within.
"No, I won't tell you, I have told you before that's up to you to figure it out yourself, it will be too much on your health if I told you," Cole was still worried about her health, therefore, he rejected her.
"My health, my health, you have been making emphasis on my health ever since I have arrived, yet you are making my blood pressure rise, probably this is why your parents abandoned you and didn't care about you," Kaia carelessly spilled out.
"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean it that way," she apologized immediately she knew what she said.
"It's fine, you are right, Melvin, I think we have business to discuss about, to my study room now," Cole ordered, his voice lowered and you could tell his was mad already, though he didn't show it on his face.
Melvin only gave her a disappointed look. He was not expecting it from her. After all, Cole was only trying to look out for her health, yet she didn't appreciate it due to her stubbornness. She was still as stubborn as the past few years.
"Oh God, what have I done?" Kaia questioned herself out loud as she put her hands on her waist while looking up to the ceiling in regret.
"Hey, what are you doing out here? Are you recovered now?" She suddenly heard a voice and turned to look at the source.
There she met a girl who smiled at her. It was a friendly smile and Kaia returned the smile also.
"I came to refill the glass but I can't recall where I dropped it," Kaia suddenly recalled what she wanted to do previously before listening on something which might have to do with her.
"Ohh, that's fine, I will give you a glass, my name is Chelsea, I'm the head maid here, so anything you need, just come look for me," turns out it was Chelsea from earlier on, the one who had a disagreement with Kayla.
"Thank you, my name is....,"
"Kaia," Chelsea cut her off immediately which caused Kaia to raise her eyebrows. She wondered how she got to know her name.
"I know what you are thinking about now, how did I get to know your name?" Chelsea asked with a lovely smile to which Kaia gave a confirmation nod.
"It's not hard, everyone knows that master just got married to a beautiful lady and she goes by the name Kaia which means pure," Chelsea talked incessantly.
"You even know the meaning of my name," Kaia exclaimed and chuckled, completely forgetting that Cole was annoyed with her.
"I looked it up, don't be surprised, it's such an uncommon name so it was bound to have such a lovely meaning, so I could not resist checking for it," Chelsea pouted which caused Kaia to smile.
"You should smile more often, it makes you look pure, no need to have a frowny face always like my master, he doesn't really smile," Chelsea looked around as she whispered.
"That's so funny but I can't count how many times he has smiled to me ever since I arrived," talking about Cole made her recall what she said and the smile wiped off her face.
She had to apologize because she knew her words were not good but where could she find him?
Meanwhile, in Cole's office, there was silence in the study room which caused Melvin to feel quite stuffy.
"Alright, speak, this silence is so suffocating," Melvin burst out when he couldn't take it anymore.
"Have you dealt with the Williams as I asked you to?" Cole opened his mouth to say as he rhythmically knocked his fingers on the table.
Melvin looked at him and shook his head as he said to him,
"Yes I have done so, but you and I know that isn't what I'm talking about, Kaia went to far in what she said," Melvin said. He could not stand what she said so he spoke up.
"It's not her fault, she only wants her answers which I am not ready to give," Cole replied as he got busy with some documents.
"But you are only doing it for her, if you just tell her, her body might not be strong enough to take it," Melvin voiced out his dissatisfaction.
"I know," Cole replied and the atmosphere turned silent once more.
"What are you going to do now?" Melvin asked.
If it were up to him, he would tell her and satisfy her curiosity but Cole was still thinking about her health, yet she hurt him.
"I will tell her what she wants to hear since she badly wants to hear the truth," Cole spoke up after deliberating in his heart.
"Do not tell me," Melvin could not even complete his statement as he stared at Cole in shock.
"She wants it, she will get it, get the TV ready," Cole ordered as he sank into his own thoughts.
