1 Prologue

It was a city submerged of neon colors, it was just a usual view in the ever-bustled city whenever the world was wallowed by darkness, but not to a certain boy, his face tinged with a bright complexion imposing on how happy he was, as he glared non-stop to the abstract neon lights that has colored up the city, colorful bright lights everywhere; the signs, the traffic, the buildings, the billboards, it was so mesmerizing that it feels like whenever he's in such trance it feels like there was no passage of time at all.

"How beautiful" he muttered under his breath, it was like as if it was his first time watching such scenery, but who can blame him, it was really his first time.

Rei is a boy with a short black hair, with nothing in particular that makes him stand out, well regarding to his trance like state of the abstract background enclosing him, this was because he was but a rural person who just moved in recently to the city as to continue his pursue on his studies.

He is a hardworking student that earned him the right to pass the entrance exam of one of the top college institutions of their country with scholarship at that, knowing how much he had poured all his times on his studies, this was an opportunity that he will never ever cease, thus here he is now, in the eighteen years of his life this was the first time he had sighted such lights.

But regardless he was still a normal person with a sane mind, knowing the proper ethics of how the bustled city flows.

There were people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, everywhere, this shows how big the discrepancy of the rural to the city.

Where he came from, usually Rei can identify each and everyone showing how small of a population they were, but compared to that the city streets keeps overflowing with people, some are in a hurry, some are in leisure, but nonetheless he cant register all of them in his mind.

Then he resumed on his leisure walk of admiring the lights.

School was but a week away, and with nothing particular to do, he usually stays at his room on a rented apartment building during daylight pouring his time on studying, but as night falls he gets out and proceeds on his leisure pleasure walk.

Basking on the city lights, he was contented with all of this.

And another day has passed

And another

And another

And another

And another

And on the last night of his leisure pleasure walks,

The night was still young, and the suppose to be moonlit sky, was covered by a partial clouds, there exists a random interval of the moonlight showing then hiding as if the moon was afraid to show its luminescent light.

He was once again happy basking down upon the neon lights, the start of school is already the next day, so he has to make the most of it during his last night of delight. There were still some unexplored parts of the city, so as if to achieve a fill of gratification he must unravel the streets of the city.

"u…urgh!"

After a few hours or so, gradually every seconds that passes, a rising anxiety grew into him, as if all the ecstasy he felt disappeared, it was not because he left the boundary of his admirable scenery, in fact his body was still basking under it, but it was because he finally understood it…..

that he was lost.

"Damnit! Why now of all times, and here I thought I have charged it fully, curse my useless battery" the muttering full of regret and cursing was directed towards his phone, the main map source of his voyage on this city.

"What now?"

Anxiety, anxiety, he was drowning with anxiety, wondering on how he will get back to his own room, maybe he will arrive, but who knows how much time he will take just by finding the right path on this ever-wide city.

"No choice, gotta start finding m...."

"Kyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!"

Just as he was attempting to find the right path, a high pitched tone reverberated on the air, a screaming so loud that he wanted to cover his ears.

"What the!?" after a second it stopped, then something baffled him, not because of the scream, but because of the reaction of the people around him.

"huh?" The screaming is so loud that it should have been enough to make every people cover their ears within it's range, and yet the people around him continued on with their business, as if they heard nothing.

"Help me!"

"Help m… kyahhh!"

Colligating cries of help came following after the scream, yet not even showed even a tinge of awareness, nobody except for Rei, are these people really that serious? How can they ignore such cries of desperate help? This cycled on through Rei's mind, then as if finding resolve he ignored the masses lacking with awareness, and tried to locate the source of the sound.

"Don't! Stop…it…I..huhu..beg.you"

"There!" it was a dark and narrow alleyway, he scurried over to it, and within its entrance came a putrid smell, but even so the people walking beside it was not even bothered at all, it was really as if they never even noticed it.

Rei gnashing his teeth, began trembling, he was not someone particularly brave enough to do such things, he was someone with no courage, lacking it so much, that he was someone that have cried whenever someone bullied him in his childhood form, but that was different from what he is about to do now, as what the saying says courage could kill you, but if he doesn't do anything right now, regrets and guilts of his own conscience might swallow him later on.

And finally with a reluctant resolve he shook his head and scurried in the narrow path….

After a few pacing of his wide stride, he stopped after conceiving a particular sensation of something steep on the sole of his shoes, the moon was still partially covered so he can't quite perceive on what it is, but this certainly made him crept enough out of fear, he continued on treading the unknown liquid substance then eventually after turning corners he stepped on something mushy, cold sweat struck him.

And as he was contemplating on what kind of thing must have he stepped on, something was there, something can be heard just right beyond him on this turning corner, scrunching, tearing into something.

Rei can't quite perceive it but there was a figure slumping down, this made him breath excessively out of fear, then eventually affecting his supporting structure his legs trembled, his whole body was shaking.

Then as if the will of the moon trying to help Rei perceive his surroundings, the moon emerged from its hide, but as soon as the luminescent of the moon lights the narrow path, his pupils dilated.

dread overwhelmed him.

The walls were painted with crimson red, the pavement coursed with blood, Rei took a long look right beneath his shoes.

"A….a…..aghhhhh!"

He stumbled down, as soon as he saw the viscera from the sole of his shoes.

He was afraid, he was trembling, he felt numb, he was breathing excessively.

"uu, aaaaa.."

Pausing from its previous activity, a figure shrouded in white, right before Rei let out a painful moan and straightened its back, as if noticing the interjecting character on its territory, it bizarrely and abruptly contorted its neck to face Rei, bones can be heard breaking as it twisted its face towards Rei.

"a…a..a…aa….augh"

The features of it face was nothing.

No, its more likely to say that it was wearing a mask devoid of any features, it just shows a white blank mask blotted with red.

"a…a..a…aa….augh"

Rei, Rei who was overwhelmed with dread and realizing that there was no way out of this dire situation, just lets out a frightful groan while tears spilled out no longer able to contain within his own eyes, as he tried to shakily crawled himself away from the abomination.

"hue?"

It straightened its back while still facing Rei, then gradually from neck down it tried to fix its body to a normal posture, the transition came out horrifically as it fixed itself, the bones creaked, flesh ripping apart, it was a painful and excruciating spectacle to behold to, and yet the one performing never showed signs of agony.

"Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why?"

As well as it was fixing itself, it began to utter why? Repeatedly, no, it may be more like it was whining…

"...….."

Then finally in a normal posture, with its red-blotted white garment it treads on in a staggering pace heading towards Rei while muttering incomprehensible words…

"a…a…a…a"

No matter what struggles of escape Rei's thinking it was all but futile, because the figure in front of him, somehow induces an abnormal aura, it was an entity beyond of human knowledge.

He's going to die

He's going to be killed

Rei just imminent death before him, without a sign of resistance.

But contrasting Rei's resolve of death, was the white death's stillness standing just a few millimeters before Rei...

"Help me…."

A shrilled voice echoed behind the mask….

A feminine tone that can be most likely been diffused with despair, anxiety, and suffering…

And at the same time it was a tone seeking for help….
