7 007 THE MAN IN THE HALLWAY

Fei Shuang needed to stay and recuperate at the hospital as days past. She had already became good friends with the food service staff.

One bright sunny day, Fei Shuang decided to call her bestie ZhenZhu using the food service staff's phone. She tried so many numbers but where all wrong.

She already wanted to quit but decided to try one more time. The phone rang for a few seconds before someone picked it up,

"Hello,who's speaking?" ZhenZhu answered in a bossy tone.

"Hey, it's Fei Shuang that is speaking..."

"Girlfriend! Where were you for the past two months?? I've been worried sick about you!"

Fei Shuang's face turned pale.

Hearing no response, ZhenZhu continued,

"I've called your number so many times but you didn't pick up and even went to your house but you weren't there. Caofeng told me everything but you just left without a single trace, at least you should have informed me.... Fei Fei ... girlfriend.....Are you okay?"

ZhenZhu sounded so helpless and full of worry.

Fei Shuang felt guilty.

She never really considered everything after she left her apartment.

She didn't think of her friends and everyone before marching out of the house and running away from her nightmare. At least she could have informed ZhenZhu since there were more like sisters .

"ZhenZhu .....Girlfriend was very stubborn ....

I'm very sorry,i had an accident....."

Before she could finish her sentence,she heard ZhenZhu scream out loud.

"What! When?"

ZhenZhu cried.

"After i left the apartment..."

"Where.....where are you now? Are you okay?"

"I'm at Beijing Jishuitan Hospital here in Xicheng district, don't worry too much i'm okay!" Fei Shuang responded.

"I'm on my way!"

"Wait..." Fei Shuang didn't get to finish what she was saying when ZhenZhu ended the call.

"Aish....I didn't get to tell her the room i was in!"

Fei Shuang sighed.

"Thanks a lot for lending me your phone."

Fei Shuang thanked the food service staff as she handed her the phone.

"You're always welcome, what are friends for?!" She responded smilingly.

"I better head back to the hospital cafeteria. Take care of yourself before i come back to serve you afternoon tea." She pushed the rolling table and heads towards the door.

Fei Shuang nodded as she watch her leave.

"Aiyaa.....I'm bored to death....What should i do?...."

She hated herself for not being able to do anything,she could only sigh.

Fei Shuang gently positioned and lock the wheelchair close to the bed. She removed the armrest nearest to it and slowly grabbed the handles. She swung her feet off the edge of the bed and then use enough momentum into a sitting position.

After catching her breath, Fei Shuang changed the direction of the wheels by her hands and maneuvered towards the door.

Down the hallway

Fei Shuang kept on turning the wheels forward as she monitored the people passing by. The nurses and janitors where roaming up and down the hallway. She was very familiar with the hospital now that she can use a wheelchair.It was a bit uneasy but she could cope with it.

She had no idea where she wanted to go and just kept on turning the wheels forward. She came pass a Combo snack and cold drink vending machine. She kept staring at the snacks until she bumped into someone.

"Oppss....."

Fei Shuang saw someone's bottom in her face,

she quickly raised her head to see who it was.

Her eyes suddenly encounter with a man's hazel-brown eyes. They were a-fire with passion. He had a devil-may-care outlook and a stellar smile all dressed in a casual outfit.

"Watch were you're going."

The man said in a deep voice. He had a concrete jaw with fuller and more symmetrical lips.

"I'm sorry." Fei Shuang bowed then slowly raise her head to have a more clearer view of his face. Handsome in an understated way,he had a narrow facial face and dark bristly eyebrows with a hawkish nose and defined cheek bones.Less fat with a fair skin, he was adored by his shiny-black hair. It was a casual looking neat and flowing.

He only sighed with a weak smile and hurriedly left.

Fei Shuang didn't say a word as she watched his departure. He walked with a tiger like grace with purpose and authority.

"Snap out if it Fei Shuang!" She pinched herself so hard.

"Ouch! It hurts."

She was caressing her arm when someone called out her name, "Fei Shuang!"

She looked straight and saw ZhenZhu running towards her. She could feel tears forming on the side of her eyes.

ZhenZhu was a classy woman with a photogenic face and a shapely body. She had a glossy skin with ebony black hair.

"Girlfriend!" She responded happily .

With tears rolling down her eyes,ZhenZhu quickly hugged Fei Shuang tightly.

"Girlfriend...*sob* i missed you.... *sob* *sob."

"I missed you too ZhenZhu." Fei Shuang hugged her back.

"I missed you more."

"Nah...I missed you most. It's all my fault." Fei Shuang couldn't control her emotions.

After some seconds, ZhenZhu let go of Fei Shuang using her hands to wipe off her tears.

"You look so thin,where were you hurt?" She examined her body worriedly. She didn't care seeing her best friend on a wheelchair,at least she was safe and sound.

"I'm really fine girlfriend. It's so good to have you here. I've been out of my room for a while,i suggest we go back." Fei Shuang smiled.

"Alright let me push you.Room 606 right?"

"Right....but how did you know?" Fei Shuang asked surprisingly.

"I asked the clerical staff at the receptionist. Your information was recently uploaded after you regained consciousness."

ZhenZhu walked to her back as she grabbed the

handles. She carefully tilted the chair backwards using the tipper level until the back wheels touched the kerb. She then rotated backwards and push the wheelchair forward heading towards Room 606.

Room 606

"Here we are!" Fei Shuang sighed but was startled when the door was opened by someone on the inside.

"Nurse Pan....."

ZhenZhu's brows wrinkled as she pushed Fei Shuang inside the room.

"Miss Lee,where have you been?!" Doctor Xiao

sounded serious.

"We were so worried about you....." Pan er added in a worry tone.

"I think we arrived at the wrong time."

ZheZhu's brows wrinkled more.

"Doctor Xiao,Nurse Pan I'm so sorry for making you worried about me. I know how much you're concerned about my health...i just couldn't bare sitting in one place. I wanted to...this must be a joke! it's you...?"

"Who!"

"The man in the hall way!" Fei Shuang point towards the man in the corner.
