Chapter 18 - Ghost Canyon

After a few days and after breaking through to Intermediate Quasi-Warrior, Ye Feng was sure of his decision, he had to leave the village, he consulted the Elder to first help him sort out what he received from killing Liu Erlong and Chu Yixue and also, to ask him about places that could be filled with opportunity.

Albeit surprised, the Elder helped Ye Feng and sorted out whatever he had received, with this, he knew that amongst everything he had gotten, he had received, 3 defensive talismans which could block attacks of anything below 5 Star Knight, the problem was that due to the nature of this talisman which would gather energy in the air to directly nullify the damage, he couldn't use more than 1 every 5 seconds. He also had 5 pills that could heal his injuries and 9 that would serve as antidote from poison, finally, he also had 1 Spirit Artifact which was the spear.

A Spirit Artifact was something that had to be meticulously refined by a Cultivator, it was stronger than regular weapons but one had to find a talented refiner and the materials to make one so getting one was important, especially since he was leaving the village. After sorting everything out, the Elder gave Ye Feng a pendant and said,

"When the pendant shines, you'll have to rush back here. As for a place you could go to... I'd say the Ghost Canyon which is a place that is covered by a thick mist and filled with beasts, it isn't that far from here, and there rarely is any human there since the mist prevents one from using their sight to travel and one would need Mental Power to safely traverse the canyon. To go there, you'll have to head South-East, you'd normally be able to see the Ghost Canyon from afar due to the mist covering the sky."

Ye Feng nodded and left the village, he headed South-East and wasn't met with much trouble and soon left the forest and was met with an immense plain, he continued heading South-East but soon noticed a pack of wolves and a group of Humans fighting.

From afar, Ye Feng knew that the wolves were on the losing end, many wolves corpses were already lying on the ground, he estimated the group of humans to be on average a 2 Star Warrior, as he noticed more and more wolves dying, Ye Feng hopped faster toward them and killed the group of humans when he was close enough.

The remaining wolves gazed toward Ye Feng meaningfully before dragging the corpses of the dead wolves, Ye Feng looked at the wolves and headed South-East but noticed an item flying toward him at high-speed, Ye Feng looked at it curiously as it hit the ground, it seemed to be covered in saliva and blood but he raised it with his Mental Power and inspected it, the System was already issuing a Prompt but he ignored it.

It was a rather big red round item, Ye Feng noticed that there was Qi in it and circulated his own Qi to try and absorb it but it was no use, the hard shell prevented him from reaching the foreign Qi, he had a thought and gazed at the wolf pack, sure enough, with his heightened sight, he was able to see a hole on the corpse of the biggest wolf, this hole looked to be made by something biting into it, it was also big enough for the item to come from.

This item should be a Beast Core but even then, Ye Feng wasn't sure about what to do with it, he dragged it using Mental Power, he didn't put it into his pouch yet since it was so dirty, Ye Feng wanted to clean it up in a lake or just a body of water he'd find sooner or later.

He estimated that 2 days had passed since he left the village but Ye Feng had finally found the Ghost Canyon, at the very least, he had found the mist in the sky, during that time, Ye Feng found a few plants that granted him Luck, after he ate them, he also successfully broke through to Advanced Quasi-Warrior which unlocked a set of knowledge in his mind, the voice of Elder Yi sounded in his mind,

"Ye Feng, I've sealed knowledge in your mind that will gradually unlock as you become stronger, what I'm going to teach you now is how you breakthrough to Warrior. Furbuns are a rather unique existence in cultivation, we aren't Beasts but we aren't Humans too, our cultivation path is a mix of those 2. Beasts forms a Beast Core, Humans absorb a Beast's existence through a forced contract to become stronger. As for us, we form a Beast Nuclei which functions like a Beast Core but is born from the absorption of another one, but a method that has been proven to be better is using an entire beast to form a Beast Nuclei that contains a living Beast that can be summoned out or can be fused with to obtain the ability of that Beast, the Beast will also grow at the same rate as you. The second method however is harder as it requires a consensual contract."

Without thinking, his mind was set on the second method, even if it took longer and it was harder, being a Beast Tamer sounded quite interesting, and, since he worked to get a perfect foundation, why would he waste that work and get a weaker Foundation by going through the First Method? Also, since the Beast grew at the same rate as him, wouldn't this mean that in a fight, he would always be 2 v 1 and not 1 v 1?

It was all benefit the only problem was that it was hard but since he was Lucky, he might just meet the egg of a legendary beast that was about to hatch and would agree to directly become his beast... Actually, it was just wishful thinking, he might easily find a Beast that'd agree to form a contract with him, but for it to be a Legendary Beast would take way more than just [Fated to Become Strong]. Fortunately, even if it was the trashiest of Beast that agreed to form a contract, if Ye Feng became luckier, the trash beast might as well turn out to be the reincarnation of a Dragon.
