A New God Slayer Is Born

(Jason's POV)

"You're kidding me, right?" I said as I sat down and looked at the ground, "This must be some kind of joke, right?"

"No, Jason." Lucy said softly, "It was confirmed by Porlyusica herself....."

I clenched my fists, "Damn." I said

"I'm sorry." She said, "Erza is upset, so don't mind her, okay?"

I nodded, "I understand..." I said, "But....I....I didn't know...."

Lucy sat down next to me, "Don't blame yourself." she said patting my shoulder, "It all happened so fast. She came here and all of a sudden, the attack...."

I stood up, "Godammit!!" I said in frustration, "Fuck!!!"

I looked up at the sky, emotions overwhelming me currently. I had no idea it would come to this. I didn't know what to feel, either anger or just pure sadness. It was frustrating, if anything.

Of all the things that have been happening lately, this could possibly be the worst. First the whole thing with Kyoka and Seilah, then the humiliating defeat by Suzaku, and now this.

"And here I thought things were going to be a bit better." I said, "This is some bullshit."

I sensed that Lucy walked up to me, "Jason?" She said, "Are you okay?"

I looked down and sighed, "No." I said, "There's.....There's a lot of my mind."

"I see..." She said, "I wouldn't have called for you if it was just the attack. We can handle Grimoire Heart, but it was just bad timing with Kagura...."

I nodded, "I see." I said, "Its fine."

I turned to look at her. She had a saddened look in her eyes. I can tell there were a lot of questions she wanted to ask. I didn't know what I was gonna tell her.

Suddenly, the Blue Screen appeared.

"ALERT: CHOOSE THE NEW MAGIC TREE."

I didn't say anything to respond. I just looked at Lucy who awkwardly looked away.

I sighed, "I have to go and do something, Lucy." I said walking past her, "I'll meet with you guys later."

"O-Okay..." She said, "We'll be at the main building in the center....we're all there....taking care of the injured."

I nodded, "Okay."

"Alright, Screen." I said, "What are my options?"

The screen appeared again and started flashing.

"ATTENTION: YOU HAVE UNLOCKED THE CHOICE BETWEEN ONE OF TWO MAGIC TREES."

"That much I know." I said

"IT IS WAR MAGIC AND BLACK GOD SLAYER MAGIC"

"War Magic?" I said, "What exactly is that?"

"WAR MAGIC: MAGIC THAT TAKES THE CONCEPT OF WAR. IT ALLOWS YOU TO SUMMON ANY WEAPON OF WAR FROM PAST AND PRESENT. ANYTHING RELATING TO WAR THAT YOU ARE AWARE OF WILL COME TO REALITY."

That's some.....vague magic. Anything relating to war? Like any point in history? The entire concept of war itself is complicated as it is. But if I am able to summon and control any weapon from past and present, does that mean I can summon and control modern heavy weaponry? Like the ones from my world? It is interesting indeed.

"ONE OF THE MAIN BENEFITS OF THIS MAGIC IS THAT IF YOU CHOOSE A CERTAIN PATH, YOU CAN ESSENTIALLY TURN ANYTHING INTO A WEAPON. ANY INANIMATE OR ORGANIC MATERIAL. YOU CAN TURN IT INTO A WEAPON."

I raised an eyebrow, "What?" I said, "I can turn anything into a weapon? And what do you mean path?"

"CHOOSING THIS MAGIC TREE WILL ALLOW YOU TO CHOOSE FROM CERTAIN PATHS. THE EXACT DETAILS OF THESE PATHS ARE CONFIDENTIAL. ONLY ONE OF THEM ALLOWS YOU TO TURN ANYTHING INTO A WEAPON. THINK OF IT AS A TYPE OF TRANSMUTATION MAGIC."

I see. For magic as complicated as this one, I can understand why they separate its stuff into different paths. One of the paths allows me to turn anything into a weapon, another allows me to summon weapons from past and present, huh?

It sounds like it does have potential.

"What of the other one?" I said

I can only choose one. That much I know.

"BLACK GOD SLAYER MAGIC. MAGIC USED TO SLAY GODS."

"Yea, no shit." I said, "But what's it about? What element? I mean, is it darkness? Shadows?"

"THE CONCEPT OF BLACK. THIS MAGIC IS THE ULTIMATE GOD SLAYER MAGIC. ANYTHING THAT IS COLORED BLACK IS SUSCEPTIBLE TO BEING CONSUMED. YOUR MAGIC IS THE OPPOSITE OF THE WHITE LIGHT. IT TAKES THE FORM OF A BLACK LIGHT. IT IS ESSENTIALLY DARKNESS, AT ITS CORE. BUT THIS MAGIC HAS ITS BENEFITS. IT CAN MAKE YOU IMMUNE TO ANY ATTACK THAT IS COLORED BLACK."

I nodded, "I see...." I said, "It is basically the pinnacle of God Slayer Magic, huh? Wait, anything black? Does that mean other God Slayer Magic?"

"THAT IS CORRECT. OTHER GOD SLAYER MAGIC IS BLACK IN NATURE, THEREFORE YOU WILL BE IMMUNE TO THEM."

That is a game changer. Although, from my knowledge, there are only 3 God Slayers. Flame, Sky, and Thunder. But still, this allows me to be immune to their attacks.

But why should I worry about them in the first place? It's not like I'll fight them anytime soon. And even if I did, they're not much of a threat.

No, I shouldn't think like that. There must be some other benefits to this.

My Gut is telling me to choose it.

"Screen." I said, "I choose Black God Slayer Magic."

"VERY WELL."

As I clicked on the option, the screen started flashing.

Suddenly, I felt a surge of magic power flow throughout my body. A thick and powerful black aura was released without my intention. My body also began to feel strange, as if it was changing itself.

"W-What?" I said

"CONGRATULATIONS, YOU ARE NOW A GOD SLAYER. YOU HAVE THE MAGIC POWER AND THE PHYSIOLOGY OF A GOD. ONE THING TO KEEP IN MIND, YOU CAN COMBINE MOST OF YOUR MARTIAL ARTS SPELLS WITH GOD SLAYER MAGIC. MAKING IT A DEADLY COMBO."

The aura stopped, and my entire body was filled with nothing but power. It was beginning to feel good, in a strange way.

"Whoa..." I said, "This feels.....wow..."

"CHOOSE ONE OF THREE FREE SPELLS."

"Huh?" I said

"AS A GOD SLAYER, YOU HAVE ACCESS TO MOST OF THE GOD SLAYER SPELLS, SUCH AS REGULAR ATTACKS WITH YOUR ELEMENT. HOWEVER, THERE ARE SPECIAL SKILLS YOU CAN UNLOCK THAT'LL GRANT YOU INCREDIBLE POWER."

I raised an eyebrow, "So I can do the typical breath attacks, punches, kick, and element manipulation without spending points, right?" I asked, "Cause if not, that'll be some bullshit."

"YOU CAN. HOWEVER, THERE ARE SOME POWERFUL VARIATIONS THAT MIGHT REQUIRE POINTS. THAT SAID, THERE ARE A FEW SECRET ARTS THAT ARE INCREDIBLY POWERFUL AND WILL OBVIOUSLY REQUIRE POINTS. BUT SINCE YOU'VE JUST UNLOCKED THIS TREE, THERE ARE THREE SPELLS TO CHOOSE FROM FOR FREE."

I nodded, "Okay." I said, "Show me."

The screen the switched to the spells.

They read:

Black God's Divine Conversion: Devour enough of other God Slayer elements. There is a certain threshold one must devour to reach the conversion. Once the conversion is complete, the Black God gains the ability to unlock the elements God Slayer magic.

Black God's Underworld: Stomp your foot on the ground, causing the ground to split and black light to erupt from it. Anyone that gets caught up in the attack are dragged down to the light and are essentially trapped in the void.

Black God's Unholy Smite: Wave your hand at a target, causing them to be engulfed in a black light, killing them instantly.

"Oi oi oi....." I said with a shocked face, "What kind of brutal spells are these??? Why the fuck didn't I choose this at the beginning?!?!"

"CHOOSE THE SPELL. THIS WILL BE FOR FREE. NORMALLY THESE THREE SPELLS COST 15 POINTS DUE TO THEIR MASSIVE POWER."

I nodded, "You think?"

I then clicked on the first one. That one seemed like a massive advantage. Especially if I know where two of the three god slayers are. I could think of a way to get Orga to feed me his lightning. And as for Shelia, I can always ask her. I hope.

"CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR NEW MAGIC. CHOOSE YOUR SPELLS CAREFULLY FROM NOW ON. THERE ARE A MYRIAD OF THEM FROM HERE ON OUT."

I nodded, "Yea." I said, "I bet."

The Screen then closed and I was left there standing.

"So...." I said, "I guess it came to this."

"I'm a God Slayer now....
