DISCOVERING HER

"The weather today is crazy!" Jane sighs as she jumps back to her bed disappointed. I feel bad for her, she has been waiting for today since last week and with the heavy rain outside I doubt she will make it to that party she was so eager to go to.

Jane is a cheerful and friendly person I think this was the main reason we became good friends. With my shy personality making friends in college has been one of the hardest tasks but with Jane it was easy and being roommates made it even better. She was invited to the famous 'green party' by Natalie the handball captain as she had successfully made the school team. I was happy for her as she really liked playing the sport but I was a bit concerned about her teammates and especially Natalie who was famous for her cruelty.

"Sandra, I have an idea!" She jumped out of bed excited. With the cheeky smile on her face I knew whatever she was thinking was going to be a bad idea. "What's on your mind?"

"Wear your green dress and my jacket I'll ask Jayden to come pick us up for the party." She said throwing the jacket in my bed where I was reading my book. I hated parties and coming from a small town in *Texas where parting was considered a bad thing and my parents warning me countless times about it though they knew I hated parties did not help. "Are you crazy! It's raining heavily outside."

"Don't worry we will just use Jayden's car and I am sure they are going to hold the party in Jude's house. Please come with me! This will be fun and you will at least meet new people instead of staying here reading that boring novel." She jumps in my bed and starts applying make up on my face smiling knowing very well I could never turn her down. I had already planned to sleep inn reading my novel eating snacks and with the rain outside I knew this was going to be fun now I had to go expose my lack of social skills in a party where all the people there were famous students and athletes I would most definitely be out of place like a fish on land. But this was a special day for her and I had to be there for her as she had always done since we got to this school.

We finished dressing up and immediately Jayden walked in the room without knocking as usual. "Hey ladies you look gorgeous wow!"

"You should learn to knock Jayden" I argued as I hugged him. Jayden was like the big brother I never had. He was always in our dorm to check up on us though he lived outside the school and the constant arguments with his girlfriend who was also on the door about always being here. He was handsome and very popular in college due to his promising future in football and his funny and charismatic personality. The first time we met I was walking out of the men's bathroom where I was crying before realizing I was in the wrong place. I bumped into his 6'4 frame in the exit as my vision was blurry. He looked at me and gently took me to his car where I cried for another twenty minutes before explaining to him how my pictures of when I got hit by a ball on the face by the evil Natalie when I was trying out for the team were going around the campus making fun of me. From that moment that picture disappeared and was never used again till this day I never knew how he did that but from that day he was like my big bro.

The drive to the party was awkwardly silent as Jayden and his girlfriend had an argument earlier before picking us up even Jane who hardly shut up was silent. I was seated at the back seat using my phone trying to avoid the tense situation in the car before the car started to swerve in both directions. My heart almost skipped a beat as I let out a loud scream as I was sure this was my creator was punishing me for going to that party after I promised my parents to never attend them. The car came to a hault and I could finally breath. Jane and Jayden seemed okay while me and Jayden's girlfriend seemed to be fighting for our lives and I could see her crying.

"Is everyone okay? I don't know what I hit but sadly we have a flat trye guys" He mimicked the air attendants to try to calm us down and it worked as we all burst into laughter except her girlfriend. The rain was still very heavy. He took off his shirt exposing his perfectly shaped chest and chiseled abs as he stepped outside. "Jane maybe we should go back." I tried to convince Jane one last time but the stubborn girl had already made up her mind that we were both going even if it meant walking to the venue.

After about thirty minutes Lydia walked out of the car with her heels fuming like a wounded buffalo. We could see her arguing with Jayden trying to push him but it seemed like a little girl trying to push his father as she was tiny compared to his massive size. Lydia was always dramatic but we all knew she loved him dearly so we never got in between their fights which seemed to happen every time.

After an hour Jayden had finally been able to replace the trye and calm his angry girlfriend. Lydia's clothes were soaked and she was shaking due to the cold outside though Jayden tried to cover her with his body.

We arrived at the party around 11 a.m. To my surprise the place was full it seemed the rain never deterred anyone from coming. When we arrived most of the people were already drunk and were having the time of their lives. When I was about to step out of the car the door was opened and my eyes were lost in the most beautiful blue eyes I've come across and suddenly my legs could not move anymore.
