In the Blink of an Eye

The bright sunlights caused me to complain the moment I woke up. "Ughh!" My hand blocked the light shining on my eyes. Glancing around, I noticed that I was surrounded by trees.

While sitting in that same spot, my brain came up with various reasons and theory why I, for some reason, is here. I dare not voice out some of them for they are extremely hideous. After a few minutes of contemplating, I decided to wander around aiming for nothing in particular, just for a possibility of being able to get out of the forest.

A few days passed and I'm astonished to be able to survive these days without proper food nor clean water. I travelled in a straight line to avoid walking in circles. The adventure finally reached an end as I saw a peasant cutting flower leaves and placing it in his bag.

I watched him for a while and pondered whether I should talk to him or not. That didn't matter though, because while I was in the midst of contemplating, he suddenly appeared in front of me, so close that I nearly fell.

" Uhm... Good morning...sir?"

He smiled brightly. He appear to like the fact that I called him 'sir.'

" Good noon." He corrected me. "Are you perhaps lost?"

I nodded.

"As I thought. Do you want me to help you? But first, I have to deliver the herb I gathered to my wife." The smile never left his face.

I have nowhere to go anyway so I decided to trust him. "Thank you, though I don't really know where I'm from."

His expression didn't change. "No matter, no matter, we will find a way Miss...?"

I turned my head and my gaze. Then I shook my head. Then... " Please just call me..." I looked around and noticed my white hair. " Whi..." I tried changing the name white into something more name-like but then gave up. "You know what, you can just call me White."

" Then for now, follow me to my home and we'll try to figure out where you're from, you can call me Bret, Bret Haze." I nodded then followed him back to his house.

While walking, I asked where we are currently in and some more questions. I found out that this country is called Eznre and that I'm in the forest where the border between Eznre and Kaphin. I'm questioning myself why I'm in the border.

Soon, we reached his house, an old small house. He went to a room and I could hear him speaking with someone; Must be his wife. I could hear a shocked voice and then I couldn't hear anymore. Although I was able to hear some mumbles, it wasn't loud enough to actually know what they were discussing about.

The man came out of the room looking worried. " Well, Lady White, I... something happened that needs urgent attention so..."

" I understand, please go and attend to it first." I smiled. He's my only hope for now and I have lots of time.

" Victoria! Take care of my guest!" After yelling to his wife, he left. Mrs. Haze came out of the room with a very accommodating smile.

She prepared me some food and I gobbled it up without any reserve or shame. What!? I'm famished. Then she proposed that I take a bath and prepared it for me. I'm grateful for the married couple's help.

My mind was in ecstasy and the worries I had disappeared as if by magic. I heard a commotion outside. I heard several footsteps... and they're heading this way! Before I could stand up and cloth myself, they pushed the door open. I then had no choice but to dive underwater and prevent myself from being seen.

I squinted my eyes at the people who came in. There were four in total. One is Mr. Haze and the three are strangers to me. Judging from their attire, I'm deducing that they're some kind of soldier or guard.

Realizing that I'm still in the tub, I yelled. " GET OUT!" They appear to snap out of the shock then rushed outside, face red. I changed into the clothing Victoria prepared for me then walked outside but before I could fully enter the living room, both my hands were pulled and I was dragged into a carriage before I could even retaliate.
