Chapter 2- Trial(1)

Austin didn't have any idea whether he would regain his memories or not. He was still the same Luke who belonged to a planet called Earth and died after being hit by a truck.

Thanks to the fact that he pays attention to the details provided in the game—under the assumption that the dialogues and details would somehow help him in the future—he could act like the Prince for now.

He was currently in the second year of the academy, with eighteen months remaining before graduation. Around that time the

main villain would show up.

However, the current arc would pave the downfall of the villainess named Valerie

Yesterday, the Protagonist and Valerie got into a fight. Valerie is the strongest Aurakin in the academy.

Aurakin is just like a knight or warrior, however, in place of normal weapons, the students of this academy and around ten percent of the population can use a special type of tool called Spirit Shard.

Valerie is strong, and leagues above the Protagonist as of now. As such, when the confrontation occurred and the Protagonist lifted her weapon in a fit of rage, Valeria protected herself and broke the Protagonist's Spirit Shard.

Breaking someone's Spirit Shard while you are a student is outright illegal and Valerie broke the law.

Naturally, all the harem members were displeased with the Villainess. And Austin, the man who should have stood by his fiancée's side at times like these, also supported the other party.

And not only that, Austin even humiliated her and broke off the engagement.

Valerie then gets criticised by other students, the teachers also ignore her, and at some point, a harem member of the Protagonist even framed her—resulting in her expulsion. Then, there was no mention of her for a long time, and when she appeared, Valerie was one of the Generals of the main boss.

Through any route Luke picked, he couldn't stop Valerie from meeting such a miserable fate.

He actually sympathizes with her because she did her best to maintain her relationship with the man she adores, but…

"Young Master? Are you unwell?" Hearing Sebastian's voice, Austin was shook off his daze before he said,

"No, I am quite fine. Anyway, have you written what I just told you?" The white-haired man nodded before Austin looked at the notepad and gave a satisfied nod.

Just as he picked up the notepad, the butler couldn't help but ask, "Are you sure about this master? Expressing the event in such details might put Lady Valerie into more trouble."

One could sense that the old man pitied the girl and it was natural. Valerie and Austin were childhood friends so the old man has seen her growing up as well.

After entering the academy, Austin and Valerie drifted apart, but for the butler, they both were still the same.

Austin sighed, "Whatever I will do today, is for the best."

Saying so the blond Prince walked out of the room and headed towards the Principal's office, where the others were waiting.

It was already evening and there weren't many students around. However, everyone was aware of the incident regarding Valerie that's why students were glancing and whispering about Austin as well.

The short walk from the dormitory to the main building came to an end, and Austin was standing right before the Headmaster's office.

'Let's do this.'

Just as he knocked, the door was opened from the other side, revealing the face of a familiar teacher who was a named character in the game.

After all, he is also a potential love interest.

"Professor Morkel." Austin greeted the man with a nod before stepping inside the office

There were quite many people inside, including the Headmaster, Vice-headmaster, and Austin's homeroom teacher.

On the left side, surrounded by four males, was a single pink-haired girl who looked at Austin with a soft smile.

The main heroine of this world—Rhea.

Austin gave her a short nod before his eyes turned towards the person who stood all alone and silent.

Her curly violet hair was neatly braided. Her sharp violet eyes were drawn to the ground. High nose, full red lips, and a perfectly shaped body. She possessed a beauty worth getting obsessed over.

Austin glanced at both girls and couldn't understand that even based on beauty, how Austin could choose the pink head over such a beautiful girl.

Valerie's head was leaning down and in her hand, there was a small wooden box which she held carefully.

Austin knew what was inside the box. Their engagement ring.

Valerie knows that today, Austin will annul the engagement.

"We were waiting for you, Austin." The headmaster, Lucas Deraimore, stated.

The old man say in his seat with his back straight and eyes carrying no particular emotion.

Those who know the man closely could tell that he was upset about the fact that within the boundaries of the academy, such a great tragedy transpired.

Austin gave him a firm nod before stepping forward.

"Now that we all have gathered, I would like to start the hearing." Morkel began as he stood beside Austin and continued,

"Yesterday, in the common hall, a major incident transpired in which student Rhea and student Valerie were involved. Just like everyone, student Rhea went there with her friends to enjoy a peaceful dinner, when suddenly student Rhea tripped and the tea in her hand spilled on student Valarie's gown."

Taking a pause and after ensuring that everyone's attention was on him, the bespectacled man added, "After that, student Valerie began bad-mouthing student Rhea, making fun of the fact that she was an orphan and the absence of her parents had turned student Rhea into a savage being."

No one disagreed with it since it was true and everyone heard Valerie shouting at Rhea yesterday.

Just remembering it made the pink-haired girl's eyes well up with tears.

The tall boy behind her rested his hands on Rhea's shoulders and consoled her, "It's okay Rhea, she will be punished for what she has done," As the giant boy spoke those words, he glared at Valerie.

However, the violet-haired didn't notice the glare…more like ever since she entered the office; her head was down, and she seemed listless.

Morkel added, "In retaliation, student Rhea just summoned her Soul Shard…and it snapped when Student Valerie attacked her with the clear intention of damaging her Shard."

Standing before the Headmaster, Morkel concluded, "In my opinion, it was all too well planned by student Valerie. She first provoked Rhea and when student Rhea reacted, she took the opportunity to end her life! And for that crime, I beg the headmaster to take the necessary action."

On a strong note, he finished.

After that, the room falls under silence, as the older one sitting behind the desk turns towards the blond and says,

"Is there anything you want to add, Austin?"

Everyone in the room, including Valerie, thought that Austin would surely say something to insult Valerie. He had the right opportunity, and this time, even Rhea won't stop him.

However, under everyone's astonished gazes, Austin stood before Valerie and held her face

The warmth of his hands and the fact he behaved so tenderly with her made Valerie's eyes widen.

"Tell me something," Austin began, "Did you intend to kill Rhea?"

Morkel frowned; however, before he could have said anything, the headmaster raised his hand and stopped him.

Everyone was dumbfounded by the sudden action but more than anyone, Valerie was completely speechless by his action.

However, under his warm gaze, she couldn't stop herself from saying the truth, "No…".
