Cursing Fate

Why am I still here? Why does it seem as if time abandoned me? Heh, that is just me trying to sound poetic to stymie the raising discomfort of being tin a situation I don't understand. Last I remember, I was supposed to log out. Instead, I find myself in the same castle of stone and crystal I fought in when battling against fate. Only it seems worn by time, becoming ruins and stripped of most valuables. The only exception seems to be the stalactites that illuminated the surroundings.

Around me was a wide space, a room that could fit a normal castle inside only serving to show how enormous the building I am in really is. The ground, covered in cracks and chips was printed with a compass design I only recognize due to seeing the full thing on my mini map in the game. Here and there were places where the roof collapsed bringing light from the morning sky to further light up the area revealing moss and vines bushes and even trees that support the building wherever columns and pillars could not.

My nose was filled with the scent of dew, dust, earth, and spring. My skin tingled with a slight burning itch and I could hear the sound of squirrels and birds chirping a tune along with crickets and other insects. If that wasn't enough to tell me everything was real, seeing the quality of my senses were as real as life, the utter lack of my HUD and the strange flow of energy I could feel was. I was no longer on earth.

And if that wasn't bad enough, I didn't even have to look to know I was in my character's body instead of my own. This would have been a good thing if I was using my main character. Unfortunately, I am in the body of my second character, a succubus, and they don't come in male. It was a whim really, they had a karma system that had different starting points for different races from the get-go and I wanted to see if I could reverse it completely and only the succubus had an aesthetically pleasing design that didn't require me to think too much.

It would have been too much had I not received a certain reward during the chain quest that brought me here, allowing me to bypass a certain negative racial characteristic, the need for vitality. That's right, I acknowledge that I was brought her by my wish. That goddess twisted my wish into this abomination of a story plot. Now that I think about it, her smile was too innocent. I was tricked! I reluctantly admit to not specifying properly, but still, shouldn't she have at least asked which character I was referring to? No? Oh... Whatever regrets I have though, I guess the only thing to do now is move on and hope for the best... Right?

After going around in circles in my head trying to find a way to accept my situation, the only thing I could think of doing was ensuring my survival. I knew enough to pick out what leaves and fruits were safe to eat.
