Dance to death.

Pankaj was studying in his room, suddenly he felt warm, he looked behind, Anju was sitting there and seemed to be in distress. She wanted to say something but was unable to speak. As soon as she tried to come close to Pankaj, a noose wrapped around her and she was pulled by none other than Billu. Pankaj tried to save her but he could not move an inch. He too felt suffocated and cried for help. At once he woke up and realised that it was just a dream. Even in the chilly winter morning, he was perspiring. But he grew suspicious and thought that the dream must have some meaning to it. He felt as if Anju wanted to give him some indication. What if she was killed by Billu. He was in the web of his thoughts, when his mother told him about the dead body of Billu .

He was aghast. Now the situation was terrifying, the whole street was in panic. Within a couple of minutes, he got out and saw that police had arrived , Inspector Vijay was the one,investing the matter. The body was sent for autopsy. Billu was the eldest of three siblings, he had his younger sister, 18 yrs old Richa and a younger brother, Akash, who was 15.His parents were inconsolable. Nobody in his family was aware about his affair with Anju.

Now the people of street no. 7 were under the grip of fear and safety of their kids. Two youngsters were killed in a few days was shocking and sad.

Those days people were warm and caring, the feeling of self centered attitude was not seen. Everybody knew everybody in the whole neighborhood. They would share joy and sorrow among each other. It was decided that something must be done to maintain the safety of each other. Some prominent elders of the street decided that every night two persons would remain awake and watch over. Every night two different persons from the street keep guard, so that no further damage was done. The next morning, a strange thing happened.Over the roofs of the houses of Anju and Billu there were carcasses of crows were found. Two crows carcasses on each roof. Things were getting worse day by day. The incidents were atrocious.

When you are undergoing some crisis, real characters of people are revealed. If social gain is prioritized over personal gain, half the battle is won. At that grim situation people in street no. 7 showed their true spirit and turned into a big family.

That night the duty to keep guard was on the shoulders of two young men of street 7.They decided that they would remain at the two opposite ends and would keep change their position frequently. The night passed smoothly. The next morning , everyone got up to see what awful event was waiting for them, but nothing happened.

It was Sunday, as usual Pankaj was supposed to go and play cricket at the nearby ground but he was not in a mood to do so. His mother always disliked him go and play in the ground, but that day she persuaded him to go so that he could change his depressing mood. He too wanted an escape, so he left for the field. When he reached there, he noticed that the best player of their team, Noor was absent. It was strange as Noor had never missed a match before. Pankaj decided to reach his house, after the match got over. When he reached there, he got to know that Noor's elder sister Shammi who was also a stage dancer, was missing . She left her home last night to perform at a wedding, but didn't reach there. Pankaj tried to find Noor but he had gone to police, to lodge missing complaint. Pankaj returned home and told everything to his father. His father discussed the matter with the others in their street, they were alarmed.

By the evening, the autopsy report of Billu revealed the cause of his death to be in the similar manner of Anju's.Inspector Vijay came and talked to all the people who were closed either to Anju, Billu or both. He talked to Pankaj as well but Pankaj didn't tell him about the affair of Anju and Billu.

That night the two persons on duty were Raj and Rohan who were close friends. Rather than performing their duty strictly, they remained busy talking to each other at one end of the street. They completely ignored the seriousness of the situation. They were sure that nothing would happen. However hard you may try but you cannot find 100℅ dedication from some people even at the time of dire situation.

The next morning people got up to another surprise, there was a black cross mark (X) at the gates of all the houses which were inhabited by dancing girls. It was beyond understanding of everyone, how it all happened even after the strict vigilence during nights. What was the connection of these marks with dancing girls? Raj and Rohan were summoned by the elders of the street and they were asked what were they doing at night. They told them that they performed their duty well and kept roaming in the street the whole night and didn't see anybody come and make these marks. There was an unexplained fear among all the dancing girls of the street. They could not go and perform their job due to fear. But still one thing was strange if dancing girls were the target, why Billu was killed. Only Pankaj was aware about the connection of Anju and Billu.

The next morning in the street no 5,the bare dead body of Shammi was found.
