Chapter Twenty-Four: Angel x Golden POV: Markings

Song Recommended: Driver Licence By Olivia Rodrigo

She fell with a hard thud on the ground. She tried to take in as much air as she could, feeling as though she had been starved of air. She turned her body to the side and let out a painful wheeze.

It had all been too real to be disregarded as fake. She knew nightmares and terrors. This wasn't one of them. This was real and this was something she knew she wouldn't be able to ever ignore.

She heard someone else wheezing and looked up to see him. He was dragging on the floor, trying to get to the door. As though desperate enough to get out even though he looked weak.

"…wait…" she tried, feeling as though everything in her was burning. When she tried getting up, she tumbled back down as though rocks that had been unevenly piled onto each other. Yet he didn't stop, he kept moving forward but she was gaining on him.

Right when she was about to touch him, that way she could stop him, he turned to the side. Giving her fearful eyes, he said, "Stop." Aural's body filled itself with fear and shock. Apart from it being rejected from the way he had moved away from her touch. As though she had hurt him painfully and he couldn't stand to be with her again.

Yet her eyes went down and noticed that there was a mark on his chest. A hand marking that was still fresh as though someone had forcefully stuck it there. She looked down at her own hand and noticed that there was still smoke drifting off of it.

What had she done?

"I-I…" she trailed off, unsure what to say at this point. She had hurt him and that's why he had been scared of her touch. She had literally burned him and took a part of him. Her mind flashed with memories of what had happened before she got removed from heaven.

The memory of her burning a human, a living being, alive. Until there was no longer living in him. She had seen his entire being, felt his pain and regrets. She had taken away his power of choice and given him a painful punishment.

The very thought of doing that to someone who had saved her, petrified her and made her pull herself back. He stared at her with fear, sweat trickling down his forehead as he tried to take in a deep breath.

They stared at each other for a few movements before either of them could say something. He bolted. He had barely taken in enough air for his body to calm down but it didn't matter. He needed to get out and that was the aim he would live up to, no matter what.

He ran down the stairs, ignoring the pain in his chest and incoming nausea. The incoming drowsiness. No, he needed to make it to a safe place. So as soon as he got to the path walk. He pushed himself to sprint away. Not daring to look at who he had bumped.

No, he needed to get away from her as fast he could, Yet before he could continue you further. He came to a stop when he heard a loud scream. A scream so painful, it tugged at his heart but knowing that it came from her. He turned back to the direction in which he was running and continued.

When he has felt no presence, he let out his wings and flew away. Never turning back, though the burn on his chest, wouldn't stop.

She knew he was never going to return. There was something different about the way he had left this time and honestly, she wouldn't be able to blame him. She couldn't remember how she had begun to burn him. She had just laid with him and then suddenly she was with her family.

Her heart felt awfully painfully, the worse thing was she couldn't tell him to stop, she couldn't apologize. No, no, she could only watch him run away into the dark night. Hope that the cold wind would make the pain subside and that he would find help. She could only hope that it wouldn't stay there forever.

She was just good at hurting the living and she knew that this would cause too much pain for herself. So before she could let her mind run wild, she screamed. She screamed hoping that heaven could hear. She screamed hoping her mother and father could hear.

She screamed hoping that he could hear that she was in absolute regret and pain. Then when she stopped, she did what she mind told her to do. She began to pack up her stuff, pull out all the money she had saved, and when she was done. She shut the door and headed straight to the subway.

Not knowing where her destination would be.
