Prologue

I walked down a pitch-black path; it felt like I was walking for an eternity. All of a sudden, I could hear whispers, the voice became louder and louder with each step I took.

"Riven! Where are you?" I could hear the person's desperation; I wanted to know who was calling to me.

"Hello, who are you?

"Riven!! Can you hear me??" I could hear the voice; clearly, it sounded like an older man's voice.

"I can hear you."

"Answer me!! Please!!" The voice echoed through this dark place, and I was all alone. Unexpectedly, everything around me changed; I was in the middle of a room. The sun shined through a bay window filling the room with a sense of comfort; I can see a little girl playing blissfully with her dolls. As I tread carefully to her, she quickly turns to face me, her mischievous smile, freezing me in my tracks. I sensed a cold sweat form on my back as she strolled to me. I sensed her menacing aura grow stronger with each carefree step, her gait carefree and deliberate. The room was immediately engulfed in flames disregarding the center where the child and I were left untouched.

The little girl is suddenly immersed in blood, her wicked grin vanished, and her expression alone showed sorrow.

"Run! Getaway!" She screeched frightening; her words echoed through the room, the flames extensionally grew closer.

"No! Stop! Please!" The tears started to form on her bloody face, you can hear crying echo through the room, and the older man's voice reappears,

"Riven, please, sta--"

A drop of water descends from the ceiling, engulfing me whole, altering my scenery once more. I am now in an alley, in the dead of night, I can see a girl walking alone. I notice somebody start to approach her from behind.

"Run!" I yelled, but for some unknown reason, she couldn't hear me. It was as if there was a wall between us, I could do nothing but let the scene unfold. I viewed in horror till I could no longer watch and turned away, you could hear them scuffling. The girl let out a blood-curdling scream, and the darkness immersed us all. My body felt cold; I opened my eyes to the starry night sky. Pain filled my senses, and the moon grew brighter with each second. I wasn't able to move much, and as I looked around, it had dawned on me. I was now the girl, and shadows surrounded me. My eyes started giving up on me, and I tried to muster up anything I could say,

"He-lp me...pl-eas-," I looked desperately at the shadows around me. All they did was smile devilishly at me; I could hear them laughing, mocking me. I breathed what seemed to be my last breath, and my eyes came to a close.

Beep Beep Beep, Good Morn-

I woke up out of breath, my clothes and sheets filled with sweat. I lay there, attempting to catch my breath. Today was moving day, new school, new friends; everything was going to be different after today.
