BURDEN OF FLAMES

Kaida's pov.

It was a cold quiet early morning about five am or so. the sun was rising and the fog was fresh in the streets of the kingdom of Celosia.

I was sleeping soundly when the birds chirped and sang by my window. I opened my eyes to the sweet little noises with my tail wagging behind me... And yes... I have a tail and that is because my family is part of the Moon Hound bloodline which has werewolves in them, well I'm half human and half Moon Hound! But mostly human... Anyways!

I then looked at the window and smiled at the new day, ready to get started! I stretched my arms and yawned, "Good Morning!" I said and hopped off my bed skipping to the bathroom to wash my face and brush my teeth. While doing so, my fang sank into the brush. I growled in annoyance, "Eugh, come on this is the third time this week!" I said in a muffled tone and just continued to brush my teeth in order to get it over with.

I skipped down to the kitchen for breakfast but I didn't see my uncle Elrick, "Huh? Where is he..?" I thought to myself, then i thought he must've went to work early...oh! He works as a hunter! He hunts some meat and fish to sell at the market in the morning, some in the afternoon but sometimes he just gets hired to take care of pests in other farms or livestock.

Then when he gets home after he deals with the market he takes care of his crops and veggies here at home. So he's a hunter, seller, and a farmer! But then... I heard an incredibly loud snore coming from uncle Elrick's room, I sighed and snickered, "Never mind I guess..." I said to myself, I grinned thinking of a way to wake him up, "Heh I wonder how I can wake him up." I snickered and skipped to his room to prank him.

"Hehe this is gonna be so good" I said and pretended to panic as bang on his door "UNCLE EL ITS ALREADY NOON THEY'RE LOOKING FOR YOU!" Uncle Elrick shot his eyes open and jumps out of bed with his tail fur messed up along with his hair.

"HUH?!" He groaned "KAIDA WHY DIDN'T WAKE ME UP EARLIER?! I HAVE TO WALK BACK TO THE POND!" He rushed to get his shirt and ran to the kitchen to grab some bread while I watched my plan unfold.

As he ran to the door I was already holding a bucket of water, ready to splash him with it then as he stood there while munching on the bread he noticed the streets were still a little bit dark and foggy since it was 6:00 am "What the..." uncle Elrick looked around and after a few minutes he realized the time "Kaida I swear to the king I will rip the fur off your tail you little rascal!" He growled, I giggled and splashed him with water from upstairs.

"Well at least take a quick bath before you rush out uncle! Hehe" I laughed and He snickered, "Well thanks it was a little bit hot anyway" He said and shakes himself.

Oh and I forgot to tell you, he's a full Moon Hound or werewolf as you may call it, anyways! He walked back to the table and wipes himself while eating the breakfast I made for the both of us "So... You cook your own food now Kay?" He asked using my nickname from him since I was a kid, "Yeah! I visit a local chef sometimes for some tips" I said and I sat down with him to eat the fried fish with some rice and bread "Well this is good!" He said while eating, I smiled and continued to eat.

After breakfast, He grabbed his bow and arrows for hunting and walked to the door "I'll be back at-" I stopped him from talking "Noon, Yeah I know uncle" I smiled and continued his sentence as if I always know what he'll say before leaving, He smiled and hugged me and gave a little nuzzle on my forehead while wagging his tail as I did the same "See ya Kay!" I smiled and waved at him while he got onto his horse then rode off to head to work.

I sighed and looked around and just shrugged not knowing what else to do and just headed to the crops with a basket to collect the grown Carrots, Onions, Radishes, and many more and I kept two or three for my Uncle and I's consumption. As I collect the veggies, I then skipped to my Uncle's Apple trees to pick some Apples so I could keep and sell some at the market or maybe make some Apple Pie! So I picked six Apples and placed them in the kitchen and headed to the barn to feed the animals there such as Cows, Goats, and Pigs!

I sighed and wiped the sweat off my forehead "You all are getting big huh?" I giggled and looked at the cows "Moooo!" it replied, "really?" I pretended to talk to them, then I heard a familiar voice "Hey Kaida!" I shut my eyes and groan "Eugh its Jason again..." I glanced at him and he stood by our fence waving "What do you want Jason?" I asked looking annoyed, He smiled widely and tried his best to flirt "N-Nice weather we're having and the clouds look nice! y-you'd look better though!" he stuttered and whispered to himself "...Calm yourself Jay she's right there..." I growled and rolled my eyes and got the basket to head over to the chicken coop "H-Hey! wait!" he yelled and tried to follow me behind the fence "What now?" I asked him "I-I have something for you!" he ran to his cart with wood since he was a lumberjack and reached for something "H-Here!" he ran back holding a little wolf figure he carved for her "I-I made it for you...I-I hope you like it..." I looked at it and walked closer to get it "huh, well its not bad, Jason" I said to him.

Jason smiled widely "R-Really? you think so?" he asked shyly "Well yeah...thanks I guess" I said to him "N-No problem..!" he chuckled and rubbed the back of his neck "Well, I still have some things to do sooo..see you" I said and went back to my routine "Y-Yeah! sure..M-Me too y'know all this wood chopping ain't gonna do itself h-hehe" he chuckled nervously "Nice work Jay..." he said to himself "Uh..yeah sure" I minded my own business and got some eggs from the Chicken coop and he got on his horse and rode off with the wood with grin on his smile.

I sighed and placed the egg in the basket and smiled skipping to the kitchen to get the Apples and places them in another basket "Hmm I think I need a little more..." I skipped back outside to pick some more, I picked Twenty more "Twenty-six Apples should be enough!" I smiled and skipped back to the house and placed the other Twenty with the Six I got from earlier and headed off to the market. I skipped on the way there and guess what! "Hey, Kay!" Uncle Elrick said "Hi Uncle Rick!" I smiled and waved with my tail wagging quickly, I ran up to him for a hug "Oh! Wow you're cuddly today!" Uncle Elrick said and I giggled "Whaaat? Can't I hug my uncle?" I asked jokingly and he smiled ad nuzzled at me"Well of course you can!" and ruffled my hair "Aw nooo! come on Uncle I just fixed my hair earlier!" He snickered and continued to walk to the market, I walked with him while my tail was wagging, I was obviously very very happy to see him! "I picked these so maybe we could sell them for the meantime and I could help! or maybe we should make Apple Pie and sell them?" I said, He snickered "Gee you really have your mother's sense of business" I giggled "Really?" I then start to frown "Well...I haven't met her...what was she like...?" I asked and He sighed "Well...she was mostly shy but she pushes herself to be more and she was incredibly brave..." He said to me with a smile, I looked at him and smiled back "She seemed very wonderful!" He chuckled "She was! So wonderful that your Father's heart yelled for her..." I smiled warmly.

As we got to the market, We headed to Uncle Elrick's stall and displayed the apples and hung up the meat while he sorts the meat out and I sat down cleaning the apples with a moist cloth, Uncle Elrick sold some meat off very quickly since he was the top meat seller then he displayed the fish to be sold too and chopped some to display the good meat pieces of the fish.

After a few hours of selling some meat and Apples, we decided to pack up and head back home to start the noon farming, We got on his horse and once we arrived I skipped to the shed to get some tools such as a Dibber or a Drag! As we started working, Jason passed by again "Hey Mister Elrick! C-Could I help you in any way?" He asked my uncle "Oh hey its you! sure, kid" Uncle Elrick nodded and opened the fence gate for him "Thank you, Sir!" Jason said, I walked out of the shed and see him "oh god.." I said to myself and sighed while Jason waves at me "uh...hey" I said to him and started to do my part of the work, Uncle Elrick looks at how Jason sets his eyes on me "Kid, could you get the hay-knife and get some hay for the cows? you can go feed them if you want Kaida can help you" I widened my eyes and glared at him "what." I said with a low growl "Ahh its fine Kay! go on Kid get going!" He said to Jason "y-yes sir!" He shyly said and headed to the tools to get the hay-knife "follow me." I said with another low growl as I walked to the stacks of hay he could work on "o-oh thanks..." He said "yeah yeah. I'll just go feed the cows." I said to him and He nodded "s-sure, beautiful" my face started to warm up and form a bit of blush "okay." I replied

As hours go by the sun was already setting and we were almost finished with the farm work "so...are your parents home..?" Jason asked and I stopped doing my job and frown "no...they're not...though I wish they were..." I said..then he asked "Why not? I would love to meet them sometimes!" He said with a chipper attitude, I snickered "well...me too...but..." I froze and teared up "They're gone..." He frowned "o-oh...I'm sorry...my parents are gone too...I just live with my brother..." He shared "sorry to hear that..." I said to him "I'm here...don't worry...you're not alone..." He tapped my shoulder and wrapped his arm around me "T-Thanks..." I said softly as I leaned into his hold, it was warm...I didn't think it would feel this way so I thought to myself, 'maybe this isn't so bad...' I then snuggled into him, He smiled and kept a hold of me "I know they'd be very proud of you..." I smiled and wagged my tail slightly, He smiled as well and kept his arms around me for comfort.

After a while, Jason went home and my Uncle and I sat down at the table to eat dinner "so how was it?" He asked me "hm? oh...well it was good I guess.." I said while eating, He snickered and nodded. After we ate, we gargled off and head to our room "goodnight little pup.." Uncle Elrick said, I snickered and snuggled into bed "night, Uncle El.." I replied as he closed the door "night..Mom and Dad..." I said as I hugged their picture together with my uncle...and closed my eyes to rest after a long...long day.
