Now that I think about it, what does it mean for one to truly have consciousness? If one were to create an AI that had the ability to believably simulate human emotion, and had the capacity to make decisions based off of those emotions, would that be enough for said AI to be considered as having a conscience?

The base definition of consciousness is the ability to elicit an emotion based on an individual's moral philosophy. So if an intelligent AI was coded with it's own moral philosophy, and had the ability to successfully emulate guilt and other human emotions, would said AI be a new form of intelligent life?
