When Rhiannon, Dominic, and their mum Suzanne, move to Helgrey, their mothers past comes back to haunt her, in the form of her sister, Clarissa. While Rhiannon's going about her normal daily life, an unknown man asks to be invited in, claiming to be a friend of her new aunty, Clarissa. But that's when everything changes, and she's thrown into a world of unknown. "Don't you dare hurt her," Clarissa demanded as she stopped metres away from Markus and me. Markus just scoffs in response, gently caressing my neck. "Oh, I won't. Not yet anyway," Markus says with a wicked smile. "But who knows; maybe I might get peckish."

The bloodthirsty predator's eyes tinted in red, matching the colour of my blood as it dyed the grass beneath us crimson. But I didn't remember my death because of the terror or the beautiful night. I remembered my death because of the searing pain and unceasing thirst that came after.
