Iris could not step away from the mirror in amazement and disbelief. She stared at her reflection for an extended period of time, tilting her face in every direction, moving closer to the mirror, and stretching her face and knew that it was her face and that what she was seeing was real but still she could not believe her eyes.
How in the world did it happen, she asked herself as she threw cold water on her face. Calixto had been drinking her blood since he had woken up from his long slumber and she didn't find that as the reason why she was looking like she just got a makeover and glow up.
A part of her wanted to show off the changes in her but at the same time, she was scared. Maybe she should research what products give dewy and glass skin so that if someone asks, she has an answer to give.
She was still busy admiring her looks when she remembered that she had a deadline for her work. She reluctantly left the bathroom, glancing at her reflection, and chuckled to herself. She was becoming a narcissist.
Meanwhile, when Calixto fled out of the basement, he took refuge at the library to sort out what had happened to him while he was feeding. It never happened before, thus, he had no idea what he must do.
He dropped himself into a bulky armchair and cradled his head. After a few beats, he put his heart over his chest and tried to feel if his heart was still beating and he felt nothing out of the ordinary. He heaved a deep sigh, relieved. He straightened his back and leaned back his head on the backrest, gazed at the line of books in front of him.
"What was that?" He asked out in the quiet library.
In the past, he never experienced that with Fleur. But a while ago when he had a glimpse of Iris's face, with her eyes closed and her lips slightly agape, breathing shallow and his heart jumped out of his chest and he totally lost it, like a coward, he ran away. And now, he is here, staring at books, his thoughts muddled with so many questions he had no idea where to get an answer.
He reached for his phone and was about to dial Love's number but changed his mind. He didn't want to tell this piece of information to anyone because he didn't want his father to have an idea of what he had experienced.
Now that his father found out that he had awakened from the 'death' that he had inflicted on him, he could feel those who were following and watching whatever he went and do. He knew that it was his father's doing because who would be interested to watch his every move when he does not do anything interesting at all.
Because of Iris, he was quick to adjust to the things of the new world. He found out that he didn't have to go out to deal with the things that he wanted to do. Like checking the status of his business that he had Theo oversee for him.
He was personally dealing with those now and it was easier to do so with the help of the technology of this new world. He was even able to put a substantial amount of his money into some investment where his money would gain a bigger interest. He had a lot of time in his hand to study how those work and Iris was a very good teacher. She was quite knowledgeable about the thing that people in this new world called the internet and computer. They were like magic with all the things that they could do. Making things easier for him.
However, this unexpected change could be something that could make his life complicated. He did not want what happened with Fleur to be repeated again. If his father knew that Iris was a descendant of Fleur—he had a feeling that his father knew but he could not confirm it yet, hence, he was not doing anything other than watching Iris closely for a possible attack.
He was enjoying this new world and he did not want to be 'killed' again by his father if he would find out about the relationship between Fleur and Iris. He already knew that his father used Fleur to put him into hundreds of years of sleep because he did something that was against his will. His father did the same thing to his mother and some of his uncles.
His father had taken the role of being the head of all the vampires in existence which was ridiculous. He had no control over those vampires that were changed by being bitten by an original vampire.
He did not stay long enough in his father's mansion to listen to him, talking about how he was leading all the vampires to be the superior ones to all the other creatures in this new world. He had no idea what he was excitedly babbling about, at that time, he only wanted to take Iris far away from his father's hawk eyes.
His father was trying to convince him to return to the mansion and sit side by side with him to help him make his plan happen. He begged off and left, dragging Iris who was too stunned to speak and too clueless about what had happened prior for them to end up at that huge dining table in his father's mansion, being interrogated like he did something terrible to the family when it was him who was thrown away and forgotten to rot in the hole under the basement stairs of his mansion.
The nerve of his father to talk to him as if nothing had happened between them and there was no blood that was spilled. He had no plan to sit with his father at a dining table and talk reasonably because he had already promised that he would seek revenge!
