*An Arknights Fanfic* “Doktah!” “Doktah, wake up!” Amiya shouted as she managed to pry open the cryogenic sink. Xiv got out of that bloody cold tub with a rude awakening. Memories that started to flow in were clearly not synchronised with his body, but at the same time, they felt so vaguely familiar. “Wait... Am I in my brother’s body?” Xiv thought to himself when he saw an obvious birthmark that only his brother had. Now he found the battered body being pulled out by Amiya, one of Rhode Island’s core operators. However, with what limited time they had when the operators pulled him out of the cryogenic sink, they could only assume that he lost his memories from abrupt awakening. But he did not lose any of his original memories. The last thing Xiv remembered was pushing his blade into the heart of his younger twin brother, Dr Ziv, the one and only infamous doctor of Rhodes Island. Only later did the Red Avenger realised that he got caught in Mostima’s forbidden arts as a last ditch effort to kill him before she succumbed to her wounds. In short, Xiv absolutely had no idea what had happened to him, but one thing was for sure. He was now on the other spectrum of the battle, and the only thing he could do was to survive. "Ouhhh Ya!" FEater shouted as she threw a special punch to the Red Avenger in front of her. With her Raging Iron Fist skill, she was able to knock back her opponent at least a few streets away, and most enemies would have been dead by now.
But not for him.
The Red Avenger was capable of withstanding her attacks despite it slowing him down. "Tsk… the knock back sure is troublesome." Xiv said to himself as he dragged his feet forth. FEater's Raging Iron Fist might not do much damage to him, but the attack caused him to tremble from the knock back, forcing him to slow himself down. "But its not something that I have not seen before!" He gritted his teeth and moved forward, with one objective in mind.
"Supporting you, FEater!" Angelina shouted as she extended her staff out of the rooftop she was on and fired her arts. With her staff on Quick Charge Mode, Angelina was able to shoot out her arts projectile in quicker succession, enabling her to slow the enemy down while FEater was able to recharge her Metallic gauntlets.
However, Xiv was not the only Red Avenger on the field and his buddy, Ed Butters was alongside him. Even though injured, he stood side by side with Xiv and took the hits from Angelina's orange stream of arts projectiles.
Still, her Arts damage did not hurt as much due to the Reunion Mages' arts buff that granted them extra toughness. 'The Blade Breaker Incantation' or so they said among the Reunion mages when they were able to specifically buff Xiv and Ed. Not to mention the zone within Chernobog Area 59 that the Avengers were in was one of filled with excessive originium, granting them extra health and strength to weather the hits from Rhode Island Operators.
"To think that I finally have the chance to face my brother once more. I will definitely get my revenge!" Xiv said to himself as the slowing effects seemed to have shaken off. But at the same time, Specialist Operator FEater appeared to be grinning from ear to ear.
"Go forth! I will handle her attack!" His comrade shouted as he pushed Xiv away momentarily and took the blow of her Iron Raging Fist once again, causing him to be knocked back.
"ED!" Xiv shouted as he recovered his balance but saw his Avenger comrade being knocked back a street away.
"You are not going anywhere near her!" Angelina said, but it seemed that her staff did not agree on her at that point of time by returning to normal. Her Quick Charge Mode was deactivated, and the orange stream of projectiles was not as painful as Xiv remembered it to be.
Panic mode on. Angelina tried to channel her arts forcibly, but her body and weapon did not work that way, and she could only hope that FEater was able to overcome this obstacle.
Yet, seeing that his friend took a hit for him and the Specialist Operator became vulnerable after using her skill, Xiv decided to go all out as he directed his originium energy and lit his sword on fire.
"Doktah! It's really the rumoured Hateful Avenger!" FEater announced to her intercom as she adjusted her stance, scared but ready to take him head on.
