Chapter 1 - Two Lost Sanktas

Without a sign of civilisation in sight, two Sanktas could be seen trekking Kazimierz's ethereal steppes. It was out of place for Sanktas to be in Kazimierz instead of Laterano, but the rarer fact was their lacklustre countenance contrary to the energetic feeling of most normal Sanktas.

"I hate this…" Came the monotone droll from the brown haired Sankta, Ava, walking in front. She wasn't speaking to anyone in particular.

"Tsk, I'd prefer the comfort of Laterano over travelling to every nation any day. Why did we have to be forced out here…" The other seemingly annoyed pink-hair Sankta, Liliana added.

Ava didn't reply, already exhausted from their trek across the Kazimierz plains. Their next destination was Ursus, where they'll be staying for the next few months.

The two were well known troublemakers within the Lateran Academia Apostolous. Although they weren't totally inept, it had to be said that they weren't the most diligent workers either. The only reason they managed to stay in the Academia despite truanting classes was their exceptional talent with guns.

Due to their failures in the theory course, they were forced to enter a special program called the Eruditio March, where they had to visit every nation in Terra and compile a major work around Terra's diversity to pass.

Needless to say, having lived within the peaceful borders of Laterano their whole lives, suddenly having to travel the world was a big leap outside their comfort zone. As a pair of procrastinators, they didn't plan for the trips at all and just relied on talking to locals. They've somehow managed to survive Lethainia, and recently, Kazimierz.

Next was Ursus.

"Oh, I see something!" Stopping in her steps, Liliana points towards the silhouette of buildings in the horizon, standing out from the monotonous repetition of grass.

Ava squinted her eyes before giving a half hearted reply, "Mmm."

As they neared, the silhouette became clearer to reveal crumbled remains of buildings which were scattered with small chunks of stone littered everywhere.

Passing through the ruins, Liliana occasionally checked the ruins out of curiosity. The village seemed to have been abandoned for several decades at least, so there might be something interesting.

Though at a glance it was hard to discern anything of note, as they neared the exit out of the village, a small church with glistening stained glass caught the eye of Ava, who sensed something with her racial empathy trait.

Attracted by her curiosity, she unknowingly drew to the church, much to Lilliana's surprise. However, sensing what Ava had sensed earlier, she naturally became curious as well.

As the two entered the church, they noticed a statue which was missing its upper half. The strange feeling they'd sensed seemed to have originated from the statue. Taking the lead, Liliana slowly closed the distance.

However, before she could reach the statue, her foot caught on an inch wide crack causing her to tumble forward, inadvertently slamming against the base of the statue. Though this was not the end of her misfortune, as an audible click was heard before a secret passage was revealed.

Still carrying her momentum, Liliana continued to roll down the stairs, bumping her head on every step.

"Argh…" Liliana moaned.

"Uhm," Ava stared at her clumsy companion, "Are you okay?"

"Good- no broken bones, and hopefully nothing broken in the bag either. Especially NTW-20, I can't afford to pay for a government loaned gun…"

"Mmm, that's why you stay cheap," Ava smugly said, showing off her battered MP40.

"You're the first Sankta I've seen who doesn't maintain their gun with more care than they do with their firstborn child." Liliana retorted, dusting herself off.

Cracking her neck, Lilliana got up from the ground and looked around the hidden room, quickly finding the source of what was triggering her empathy.

It was the glittering blue crystal which stood in the centre of the dark basement. Looking to the side, Liliana saw something else illuminated by the crystal. There were sculptures of people, made out of a strange crusty white substance, seemingly reaching towards the blue crystal.

"Shiny…" Ava couldn't help but mutter as she descended the stairs.

"This looks like a setup for a horror film... I don't want to deal with any trouble- so how about we just, uh, leave?" Liliana muttered, pointing at the sculptures.

Ignoring the concerned Liliana, Ava thoughtlessly walked toward the crystal, "You think too hard. I can feel it…"

As her hand touched the crystal, a cool wave of light covered the entire room before it dimmed into darkness. Before either of the two could utter a word, a large blue holographic screen appeared before the two Sanktas.

[Isekai system initialised… ]

[Targets acquired!]

[Would you like to isekai 1 Champion?]

[YES/NO]

"Am I the only one…?" Liliana asked, pointing towards the floating blue boxes of text.

"No. I see it as well." Ava replied, "Do we press yes?"

"I don't think we shou-"

But before Lilliana could finish her sentence, Ava had already placed her finger on the [YES]

[Rolling the Gacha…]

[Congratulations! You've gained Timmy (★☆☆☆☆) (Melee)!]

A flash of light blinds the two before an unfamiliar figure appears. Dripped out with light combat gear, he wielded a machete with a small buckler.

"Who are you..?" The figure muttered as he scanned the room and noticed two individuals with their guns pointed at him.

Lilliana lowered her weapon and quickly reached into her duffle bag, pulling out a few blue bills.

"I'm Liliana and the idiot over there is Ava. Nice to meet you. Now, how about we pretend nothing happened here? Here's 100 LMD- and goodbye!"

Dragging Ava, Liliana rushed to leave the room. However, she was stopped when Timmy called out to her.

"Who am I? Where am I? I don't remember anything about myself…" Timmy's voice cracked.

His forlorn voice made her stop in tracks as she suddenly felt a pang of guilt. She couldn't just leave a lost amnesiac in an unknown location, fending for himself against the Kazimierz wilderness.

Sankta as beings of empathy were more prone to kindness.

"Sigh, fine fine, we'll help you out," Lilliana sighed before glaring at Ava and harshly whispering, "You fucking idiot."
