Chapter 1: The Beginning

December 24, 2030 A.D.

On the day of Christmas Eve the whole city of Seoul was covered in snow. The streets were decorated with Christmas lights. The people were walking in the streets with smiles on their faces.

The people were all celebrating Christmas Eve with their loved ones. Some were celebrating it with their family , some with their lovers and some with their friends.

Everyone was enjoying the beautiful atmosphere which was created by this special day. Except for one person.

In a dark room, A man having dark black hair sitting in his chair. He was looking at his computer which was the only source of light in this dark room.His eyes were fixated on the computer screen not looking anywhere else, pressing the controller in the mean time.

There were dark circles under his eyes, a proof of the countless sleepless nights 'He' had spent looking at his computer scree.

Despite him being in such a condition he didn't stop playing the video game running on his computer.

There were heaps and heaps, of plastic bags filled with empty water bottles, cans and ramen cups littered all around his room. Almost creating a sea of garbage around him.

After, hours went by he finally took his eyes off of the computer screen. He stood up from his chair and stretched his body as he yawned. Despite his unhealthy lifestyle his body was quite lean and well built.He also had rather good facial features but were rather unkempt.

The foam of the chair he was sitting on had sunken down leaving behind the mark of his butt on it. A proof of how long he had sat on it without moving from it.

He slowly travelled through the sea of garbage he had created while he was playing his game.

As he finally reached the door,he slowly reached out his hand towards the side of the door and took an old jacket from the cloth and wore it before going outside.

He was going to the convenient store which was about a fifteen minutes walk from the place where he lived.

After arriving outside the convenience store,he slowly opened the door of the convenience store and entered.

"Oh! Seo Jin it's you."

The store owner who was a middle aged man in his late 50's asked as soon as he saw Kang Seo Jin enter.

"Hello Mr.Kim " Kang Seo Jin bowed down and greeted the old man before he slowly walked towards the packaged food section. He picked a few bottles of water and instant ramen cups and brought them to the counter.

"Instant ramen again? Young man you shouldn't always eat these you know. Young people like you should eat more healthy food."

Mr.Kim said with a concerned look on his face .

"How about you come to have dinner in my house?" Mr.Kim gave him a warm smile.

Kang Seo Jin looked up at him and gave a faint smile.

"Sorry Mr.Kim maybe next time."

He put the money on the counter and exited the store.

As he was on his way back home a strange screen popped out in front of him in thin air.

Tap!Tap!Tap!

He staggered back in surprise.

"W-what's that?" Kang Seo Jin looked at the screen that appeared in front of him in confusion.

Am I Hallucinating from sleep deprivation?

Kang Seo Jin thought to himself as he saw the strange screen that had appeared in front of him.

Beep!!

Kang Seo Jin still confused looked at the words written on the strange screen. He quickly noticed the name' Forsaken Utopia'. He felt like he had heard the name somewhere but couldn't remember where.

He searched through his memories trying to remember where he had heard this name when finally it struck to him.He looked at the screen again before checking the date and time in his phone.

"December 25, 2030 A.D 12:00 A.M its the exact same. The time, the year and more importantly the name 'Forsaken Utopia'. "

Kang Seo Jin gasped.

"It's all the same as in the novel." Kang Seo Jin murmurred to himself as he slowly uncovered the origin of the strange screen.

'The Rise of The Apocalypse' was a novel i had read long ago. It was about the apocalypse that caused the whole world to crumble into chaos.All because of this game 'Forsaken Utopia' .

It's just as the name suggests The World is thrown into chaos when the game 'Forsaken Utopia' appeared out of nowhere.

'The gods have forsaken this world, so this world has no meaning.' is what this game says.

At midnight on Christmas everyone around the world sees a game notification appear in front of them that's when the apocalypse officially starts.

The protagonist of this novel is named Han Hyun Jung he is 25 the same age as me at the start of this novel. He along with the other supporting characters clear the stages one after another in order to find a way to beat the game and save the world.As for whether they succeeded or not.

Kang Seo Jin had a rather worried look in his face as he thought about the contents of the novel.

If the novel has really become reality then I have to find Hyun Jung That's the only way i can survive.

Kang Seo Jin tapped His name on the screen as the contents on his screen changed, now displaying his character info.

Aside from my dexterity and mana all my other stats are around average.

Sigh! Kang Seo Jin Sighed as he saw his stats.

As much as i remember when the apocalypse started Hyun Jung was at the Seoul station waiting for his train way back home.The station in the novel is only about fifteen minutes from the place i am right now.I have to hurry up and meet him!

Kang Seo Jin's eyes gleamed with determination as he rushed his way towards the station.

After running for about fifteen minutes, Kang Seo Jin finally arrived at the station.There were hundreds of people there, all of them looking at

the screen that had appeared In front of them.

He looked around everywhere to look for Hyun Jung. Finally his eyes fell on a handsome young man with dark brown hair.

He had a lean physique and was wearing a black shirt with a brown overcoat. He was looking at his character profile in confusion.

Found Him!

He really is just as handsome as he was described in the novel.

Kang Seo Jin walked towards him.
