A way back home

"Excuse me sir, you could give some coins, my baby sister is starving"

I asked to the man in front of me.

The man looked at me with an indifferent face and kept on his way.

I sighed and counted the coins on my hand.

"Five bronze coins, all day and I only made five bronze coins, is barely enough for a cup of milk"

Well, I won't eat today, nothing to be so upset about.

My name is Noah Sither, well, that was my name when I lived on earth. My live on this strange world started one year ago.

I remembered that day as clear as the sun, I finished my DOTA 2 game, as per usual, and was ready to go on a trip with my girlfriend. It was a long weekend and I asked my supervisor if I could take one more day, as I was a good employee with an incapable record, so he agreed.

I must say that my live was very good, all in all, I had a good live, with the struggles of live itself, however, live isn't live without the hardships of it right?

That day, after I won my ranked match, I checked out my position on the ranking chart. I wasn't a shut-up in person, nor I was a freak of the games, however, DOTA 2 was one of the few ways I had to distress myself.

And I was pretty good at it if must say it myself, I was position five in the immortal ranked in the NA server.

Is interesting though, the fact that I started in this game not because I liked in the first try, no, I started in this game because I liked the lore on this story. The story of every hero was amazing and the world they lived in so was.

Anyway, I grabbed my baggage and prepare to leave.

"I will there in ten minutes"

I called my girlfriend and tell her that.

"Don't be late, Love you"

I smiled at the sweet words.

"I lov-"

*Thump* *Thump*

However, before I could finish my answer, I felt a sting on my heart.

"Noah? Are you there?"

*Thump* *Thump*

The sound of my girlfriend sounded on the fallen phone while I grabbed my chest in pain.

"Wh-at, is ha- Gahh" I grasped for air as I fall to the floor.

"He-lp, m-e" I managed to say only those few words before everything went dark.

As my eyes closed, a silhouette appeared in the darkness.

"You will do" Said a voice with a sinister smile.

After that, everything disappeared in the darkness.

Memories of my life flashed in my head.

My father…

My mother…

My friends…

My girlfriend…

"I don't want to die"

"I want to go back!"

That thoughts were like a light in the darkness, awakening my conscience.

"I must go back! To them…"

"To her!"

I lifted my hand in order to reach that light…

My body felt heavy, too heavy…

If felt like I had a mountain pressing on me…

But I couldn't stop…

If I stopped, everything will end.

I didn't have any prove, but I knew, this was my last chance.

So, I endure, I endure with every single cell of my body, I moved…

Always forward…

Negative thoughts flooded me.

"I am too tired"

"Why did I do to deserve this"

"I just want to rest"

Every time I thought, my steps felt heavier and heavier.

"DO IT! MOVE! MOVE! YOU MUST MOVE!"

I kept repeating that over and over, for hundreds of thousands of times…

"I am almost there!"

The light was almost at my reach…

Just a little more…

A little more and I will return!

"Interesting"

However, before I could reach it, the voice sounded once again. I had the urge to turn around, however, my head kept telling me that, no matter what, I must not turn around…

"Just a little more!" I kept trying to reach the light.

"It's futile, you can't go back" Said the voice with a joyful tone.

"Shut up" I talked with the little bit of energy I had.

Don't get distracted, just a little more!

"And here I thought that I would lose this competition, hehe, it seems that might have found myself a gem here" Said the voice.

"I will go back!!" I shouted.

My fingertips are already there, just the last step!

"Hehe, sorry little boy"

Just as I was about to enter the light, I fell a pull force grabbing me from behind.

"NO!" I shouted.

"You want to go back? No so easy my boy, however, you amused me, so, I will give you two gifts instead of two" The voice said.

While I was pulled more and more into the darkness, the light vanished.

Now, nothing more than emptiness surrounded me.

"Find the nemesis stones for me, and I will let you go back to your world" Said the voice.

I looked up and so a yellow light, inside, a creature smiled at me with a mocking face.

"I will kill you!" I shouted from my lungs.

"Hehe, that's not so bad either!" Said the creature.

The light disappeared and my head felt heavy.

Soon enough, I would faint out.

"LEAN! I WILL COME BACK!"

"I SWEART IT!"

I shouted to the disappearing light.

The sound of raining awoke me.

I looked to the sky and saw the grey skies that greet me. I looked at my surroundings and saw that everything was black, however, it wasn't the darkness that I saw before.

"What is happening" I said.

I tried to move my body, however…

"Ugh!"

Everything hurt, from the tip of my toes to my head.

"What is this smell!?" A horrible smell entered my nose.

I moved my body the best I could and I finally understood my situation.

"So that explains it" I though.

I was on trash, literally.

The foul smell came from all the trash that surrounded me.

"What is going on?" I though.

I walked a little bit before finding a small pond of water, I was thirsty, so I bend to take at least a little bit of water.

The water came with some earth that hurt my throat, however, the thirsty was more severe than what I originally thought, so I kept drinking.

When I finished, I looked back at the pond, I surprised me to look at a small child with black hair on the reflection.

"Who is this kid?" I thought.

I grabbed my face and the kid on the reflection also grabbed his face.

I couldn't believe it so I did more movements, until it came to me.

"This kid is me" I though.

The kid on the reflection had small black hair and blue eyes, it seems that I also had white skin, however, all the mud and the dirt on me put a layer of brownness on my skin.

The rain washed a little bit of the dirt on me and I could see that my clothes were a little bit to large for my size.

I had a small backpack on my back. However, it wasn't heavy at all, so I have few hopes that there was food inside.

"I seems to be a four something year old kid" I thought.

I looked at my own body and saw a lot of injuries on it, fortunately, neither were grave.

I took refuge on the street from the rain, nearby the trash, the awful smell came back, however, I didn't have the luxury to be picky, so I had to endure it.

The memory of my home and lean smiling at me came back to me.

"Fuck"

I cried like a baby for some time, the feeling of hopelessness overwhelmed me.

"Why?" This question popped on my mind for a long time.

As my tears fall down, the memories of the creature came to me.

"Find the nemesis stones"

That's what he said…

"Wait… nemesis stones… where had I heard that?"

"Nemesis stones… wait! Isn't that!?" It finally came to me!

The nemesis stones… Dire and Radiant!

"Wait, let's calm down, why that voice suddenly mentioned the Radiant and Dire stones of the world of Dota 2, that's just a game" I though.

The more I though about it, the more lose I became.

"The backpack… maybe there is some clues inside!"

I grabbed the backpack and opened it, inside of the backpack, there wasn't any good, as I hoped for, however, something else grabbed my attention.

"A necklace?" I though.

I grabbed the necklace and I saw a badge on it…

"This confirms it…" I said with a mocking smile.

"It's indeed those stones"

There was no doubt it…

Because…

The symbol of the legendary war of the ancients greet me.
