A Productive Day Pt.1

Michael Magna. Month 10, Day 15, Year A.F 652. The city of Rosalia, Kingdom of Rosalia.

"Ah this is the life." I say to myself as I snuggle closer to my pillow.

Its comforting presence, a reminder of the comforts I can now afford. Though as i sink deeper to the loving embrace of sleep I feel a weight in my waist.

Choosing to ignore this, I try to sleep, till a "Poke Poke Poke." a familiar voice spoke along with the feeling of someone poking my cheek.

"What do you want." I groan before asking Madelaine, knowing it could only be her.

"I don't know, why don't you look to me and find out." I sigh, hearing the mischief in her voice, I know that there's no way this will be safe for my heart.

So to prevent any mishap, I steel myself and my expression before turning around. Unfortunately for me, her face was close to mine.

Her half-lidded brown eyes look with beauty I never thought I'll see. Her smile, so sweet and tender, my heart can't help but skip a beat.

"W-what are you doing!?" I stutter to her as I try to control down my blush.

She grins at me as she rests her head on my chest, "Trying to wake you up for a productive day."

I smile at her, even her mischievous expression looks cute, "Fine, I'll be standing up."

Though before I could move she hugs me as she mutters, "Thanks for everything." She looks away, her ears reddening.

Seeing such an expression, I see a chance to tease her back, "Well, if you want to make up for it, you're gonna have to stay by my side forever."

She pushes herself back as her expression of surprise and embarrassment, bares itself to me. Her eyes were wide as saucers as her short brown hair framed an expression turning to happiness.

She jumps and runs away to the door, shouting, "I've brought you your confidential documents."

I look to her retreating figure in bewilderment, she smashes the door close, leaving me by myself as I realized the words, I said.

"That, did I just say that?" I mutter to myself as I then realize her reaction.

"She- she" I bury myself to my pillow as I spin around, a bit distraught and embarrassed.

Then her reaction came to mind, I look up as I mutter, "That doesn't mean no, right?"

A grin escape before shaking it off as I sat up, "I- haaa, I gotta do something else."

I look to the documents piled to the table, "There's one."

I stood up and walked to the table, a thousand thoughts passing through my mind as I think and rethink the various ways I could interpret her reaction.

DAMMIT! Why am I so bad at this? I grab my head in a chuckle, even back then I was never really good at this.

"Maybe I'm overthinking this," I mutter as I sat in my chair, hoping to clear my head with the documents.

The documents were neatly piled, its first page covered. The thickness of the document speaks of the volume of information Alfred was able to gather.

I open it up to see the first name, Arthen Rivider. I grin at the name, after all, there's a single Arthen in this kingdom and that should be Grand Duke Arthen Rivider.

The Rivider household holds a vice grip over the southeastern part of the Rosalian Kingdom and along with the trade with the continent of Eriva.

I open their records of transport and the countless reports our operatives have, which details the gossips and eavesdrops they heard through their time.

The reports have shown an increasing quantity of swords and various military supplies. The record of which makes me grin.

"Ah, I knew giving this to them for free was going to be worth it." I look to the records once more,

Some of this isn't even mine, since carriage drivers tend to flock around those carriage stops Alfred has built, they all just share their cargo like it's nothing.

Laughter bubbles at my lips, "Oh man, this is great, he's already preparing to blow this out of proportions." With this many swords and money coming out, I can probably predict the number of mages and soldiers he plans on hiring.

I'm sure Lenard would be happy to get this from me, but that might tilt the balance in his favour, A bit too much.

I tap my chin in thought, there's only so much the countryside can do. The southern part of Rosalia is just way more developed in every way.

Maybe the trade routes made the country imbalanced, or maybe the Rosalian Mountains made the northern part unavailable for development.

Moving my thoughts away from such, I turn another page, now reporting about the increased exchanges of letters between House Dunsten and House Rivider.

The information makes me smile, "Viller interfering is just what I needed,"

With Dunsten and Rivider combined, Rosalia will be torn in the middle. The only thing left is to plan a way for Orvin to be taken care of, in a way he won't die and remain a trusted member of his church.

"Hmm, an opportunity will present itself, I'm sure."

The smell of food entered my room, a fact that makes me skim through the remaining details.

I look to the thick remaining pages as I mutter to myself, "I can probably do this later, the meeting with Anders is about to happen in a few hours. I'd rather be ready by then."

As the sounds of utensils ring downstairs, I skim through the rest of the report in regards to Arthen Rivider.

Only to read a passage that makes me stop, He has been buying and storing a weird amount of grain and wheat, seemingly preparing for some kind of disaster.

I read the paragraph a few more times as a grin escapes my lips. Either he has seen through my plans or he is aware of what's about to happen.

The only thing on my mind then was,

"This is going to be fun."
