Chapter 15

Right now I am in the ryokan assisting my parents as a receptionist because the usual Part-timer-san is in the toilet at the moment. I am currently playing with my smartphone while waiting for a guest. Suddenly I heard people walking to the ryokan. Hence, I stopped playing with my phone and waiting to greet them.

"Welcome to Kitahara Ryokan"

Two beautiful girls went inside the ryokan. One of them is a beautiful black haired girl with a pair of cold red eyes. The other one is also a beautiful young girl wearing a maid outfit with blonde side tail hairstyle, a pair of mesmerizing blue eyes, and also emotionless eyes. What's wrong with girls and emotionless or cold eyes nowadays I wonder.

"Do you have a reservation?" I said professionally

"We don't, is there any room vacant?" The blonde maid asked

"Lucky you, there are exactly two rooms vacant" I answered

"One room is fine Hayasaka," The black-haired girl said

"Understood, Kaguya-sama. One room for two people for 2 nights please" The maid said

"Understood, what's your name? I need to write in the guest list." I asked.

"Just write, Shinomiya Kaguya," The blonde maid said.

"Great," I said. Then I called Shiori to escort the guest to their room.

Shiori immediately comes to the hall and take the two guest to their room. Looking at the two of them made me think about Hayasaka's past. She thinks herself as a coward who can only carry out the mission from Kaguya's brother even though she doesn't want it. In reality, she is just a kind and simple teenage girl who loves her mistress whom she considers a sister.

Meanwhile, because of the rules and expectations of the Shinomiya family drilled from an adolescent age, Kaguya habitually takes a logical side and looks for possible ways she can manipulate people for her and the Shinomiya family's benefit. This causes her to be wary of all potential friends. Placing them through "trust challenges" to determine whether she should befriend them.

I think that's about it, and don't know if this encounter means something but at least I want to be their friend. I mean, right now maybe they merely think of me as a young master of a well-known ryokan or the number one pianist after all. While I was in deep thought, part-timer-san has finished his private business with the toilet. Therefore my job is done for now.

In the evening I went to the Grand Piano room to play maybe a song or two. Then I heard melodious sounds of piano. I went inside and saw Kaguya playing a song in the grand piano. I sit in a convenient chair to hear her play. The song that she performed is Moonlight Sonata.

*Clap-Clap*

"You are quite skilled, girl," I said as I give her applause

"...." She looks at me but didn't say anything then she stood up and walking to the exit

"Wait! How about you hear I play?" I asked. Next, I went sitting in front of the piano without expecting her reply.

I think I will perform one of the classic songs that I like the most, Nocturne. I glanced at Kaguya before playing. It seems she's extremely eager to hear my performance. As I gently press the key after key, melodious sounds coming out from the grand piano. Many people started appearing here and there to hear my performance.

Many people, in fact, come to this Ryokan to hear my play. Because there is a rumor about me frequently playing a song or two here because I am the young master of this Ryokan.

As I gently press the last key, the buzzing sounds of applause can be heard from many people. Then I look at Kaguya, and she seems to cry a bit? While giving me hearty applause too.

"Why are you crying?" I asked

"I'm not crying," Kaguya answered without any expression.

"Whatever, so how's my play?"

"It's beautiful. As expected of someone who was called the number one pianist in the world" she answered still without any expression

"I see you recognize me, then I don't need to introduce myself. How about you? What's your name?" I asked

"Shinomiya Kaguya."

"Shinomiya-san, do you enjoy classical music?" I asked

"I do, classical music is an art that can make me calm my heart. Playing the piano is just a hobby though."

"I know right? I also enjoy classical music. Initially, I just imitate my mom playing but then I started to love it very much. Plus, I seem exceptionally talented as a pianist."

"I see, good for you"

"Uwaa, You sounds like someone who doesn't have any friends,"

"I don't need friends. Those things only get close to me because of my family" she said as she looks at me

"Hahaha, hilarious. It's decided, from now on I am your friend. Don't forget about that!" I said with a smile

"Wha- didn't you hear what I said?" She said to me with a bit frowning

"I did, but those things that you said are not me. Don't lump me with that kind of trash" I said with a cold tone.

Kaguya looks at me with a shocked expression. It seems she's very shocked by my sudden change of emotion. Speaking of which, this might be the first time I got angry because of something. There is no way I want to be lumped together with that kind of person.

"Listen, even If I have an ulterior motive. It won't be about your family, but it's about you!" I said

"Hue-.." Kaguya makes a weird sound and blushed

"Oh? Are you blushing? How cute." I said with a smirk.

"I-I wasn't blushing. Fine, we're a friend from now on!" She said subsequently she walked away hurriedly.

One more thing about Kaguya is she's a very sheltered girl because she has a very protected childhood where she has been prevented from learning things that are deemed "inappropriate" like romance, etc. But it seems she's very weak by a sudden attack like that.

After that, I invited Shiori to walk around for a bit. Unfortunately, she's still busy helping my parents so I can only go alone.

I walked around the neighborhood, on my way I saw my brother jogging around. He seems to join the tennis club with "if you want to be popular, the tennis club is the way" reason and cutting his hair until bald. I don't know who said that to him, there is no way only being bald and in the tennis club can make you popular.

"Yo Iori, how's tennis?" I asked

"It's going well Aniki, I am reasonably good at Tennis right now. I will be popular like you in no time Aniki!" He said excitedly

"Hahaha, well do your best" I can only laugh dryly and give him a cheer. Then Iori continues his jogging. I hope your wish comes true my idiot brother.

I continue to walk around, and I decided to stop at the park near ryokan. In the park, I saw a blonde maid sat on the bench. Her silhouette that emanated from the sunlight that going to set look so lonely. I know even if I don't do anything, she would be liberated from her shackles but I decided I will intrude her's and Kaguya's life with my presence so I greet her.

"Yo, Maid-san"
