Chapter 57

"So, Lex, Jason and Lana are attempting to track down the three stones of power?"

Humming to himself while he was tossing around a few ideas in his head. Leonardo found Clark before him talking about his latest discovery. Which was a better change since the house wasn't as lively as before. For not long after Aurora went home for a while, Lois went off to college.

"Yeah, Lex has an old manuscript which contains a map to Asia for one element. Lana was looking into another or more so the water symbol which led to the stone. Finally there was Jason who pushed her from behind as he began telling about different legends." Clark nodded.

Leonardo gave Clark a small look. "How do you know that part?"

"I sort of visited Lex earlier, before getting lightly interrogated inside the caves by Lana and Jason who were looking at the symbols." Clark shifted slightly uncomfortably.

"Well, they can hunt all they want, it's not like they will find anything." Leonardo answered. "If they want to spend large sums of money and years of life for something impossible. Then that is their choice."

"It just feels terrible allowing them to hunt for something impossible." Clark said.

"Well, it's not like you can straight up tell them it is impossible to find without outing yourself. Then we will have another can of worms so to speak since we will have unkind visitors from either Lex or Jason in an attempt to steal the stones we don't technically have any more." Leonardo pointed out.

"Still it feels uncomfortable." Clark murmured.

"It will, but Clark. Humans aren't meant to have the knowledge of Krypton nor will most take kindly to others, especially advanced races like Kryptonians." Leonardo said. "Lex doesn't have the best track record with knowledge beyond himself nor taking kindly to others outside he control. Lana is her usual self and who knows what she would do with it, especially Jason who is beside her and has his own goals too."

"I know, you and Jor-El told me before that Krypton knowledge will lead Earth to ruin if it falls into their hands. I just feel both of you are underestimating humans." Clark returned.

"Underestimate them? No, but Clark, Humans as a civilization is like a toddler and the knowledge is like the trigger for a nuclear bomb. Humans need to grow and in time they will, but that won't be anytime soon or probably in the next few centuries. They are still bombing each other due to skin color, nationality, and beliefs."

"I feel like you told me that before." Clark slumped forward.

"Well, Leonardo does have a point son. It's a bit strange to say this, but the world isn't ready for such knowledge. Even the knowledge of aliens will send the public into a frenzy of panic."

From out of nowhere, Martha joined the conversation and ended the debate. Well, not so grand, but it did stop the direction of the conversation. Since it stopped going into what is good for humans or bad for humans and brought the topic back under control. Not to mention she just finished baking the cookies she was working on for the Talon.

"So I should ignore their pointless search." Clark finally said after a moment.

"Just think of it as if they are doing some soul searching." Leonardo shrugged. "They are on an adventure with no treasure at the end, but an adventure isn't about the goal but the journey."

"Leo has a point, Clark. You can't control what others do or what they want to occupy their time with even if they are your friends." Martha said.

"I just thought it would be better if they occupied their time in a better way then in fruitless endeavors." Clark sighed.

"As long as they feel it was worth it, then don't bother with it." Leonardo shrugged. "It's up to them to live their lives and if they feel hunting for mystical treasure is worth it. Then so be it and we should respect that."

"It is strange for Leo to sound so wise at times." Martha muttered, making Clark laugh.

Leonardo lightly grumbled about that comment. He knows he tends to be silly at times, but it is not like he is irresponsible. He just didn't feel like being so wrapped up in nerves and stressed, he forgets how to relax like Clark at times.

"So are you ready for tomorrow Clark?" Martha asked.

"For the football game with Dad? Of course." Clark smiled.

"I still don't see why you like football so much." Leonardo said. "Soccer is where it's at."

"You don't watch soccer." Clark pointed out.

"I like playing it, not watching it." Leonardo pointed out.

This was true as he enjoyed playing it in his old world, but couldn't name any professional soccer players. Only he stopped playing it after entering highschool and really wanted to go back and kick himself. He loved playing, but convinced himself to quit due to his lazy friends that discards him when they don't need him.

"There is a small town tournament of soccer a few others are organizing. If you want you can join them." Martha offered. "They need a goalie from what I hear."

"How come when I want to play a sport it's not ok, but Leo it is?" Clark asked.

"Well, we allow you to play now, so why not offer him a chance too?" Martha returned after a moment of thought.

Neither Clark nor Leonardo really believed that, but didn't point it out. Both Jonathan and Martha tended to be more lax in control with Leonardo. Since Leonardo technically is just crashing at their house in the eyes of others. Not to mention despite being a teenager again, he was an adult in his old world and technically could make his own choices.

--

Dabbing the paintbrush on the canvas, Leonardo was enjoying his peaceful day as Clark and Jonathan left for their football game. Martha went to the Talon where she decided to work a shift, thus leaving him alone in the house. Hence, he began to paint a lovely picture of himself with a large harem of women.

Cheesy, yes, but Aurora will get a laugh out of it as he does. Since if he has the skills why not paint something like this once in a while. Hence, he was painting many women dressed where he would get a talking-to from mothers with young children if they say it. When the door opened and Clark and Jonathan walked in hours earlier then they planned.

"You two are back early?" Leonardo said continuing his work.

He is by all means going to finish his painting despite the awkward looks Jonathan and Clark would send his way. Granted they are probably used to it, hence they rarely look at what he paints or draws anymore. For they felt it was better for their health if they didn't.

"Dad's wallet got stolen." Clark explained.

"He had a quick pair of sneakers to go along with his fingers." Jonathan added.

"Since Clark is not screaming about aliens, then it is either a kryptonite infected person with speed or you found yourself a speedster." Leonardo said. "Otherwise, no one should be moving as fast or faster than Clark can move. Though if he inherited his abilities from an alien ancestor it is possible he could look human and move at such speed. Just the last sighting from such a speed orientated alien was centuries before Krypton exploded."

"Speedster?" Jonathan asked.

"It is someone imbued with the Speedforce and able to travel at insane speed. They also can transverse univeses, time, phase through things and so on. Basically if it can be done by speed they can do it if they learn how to." Leonardo explained. "However, they tend to be troublesome since they refuse to learn from their mistake in messing with time."

"So they are bad guys?" Jonathan asked. "Basically causing disruption in time wherever they go?"

"Most tend to either just live life like normal using their speed for simple things or attempt to be heroes at times. Now that is not to say there aren't bad apples since the speed force tends to just pick, forming a balance of sorts if you will." Leonardo answered. "Clark should know this if he looked at more optional knowledge at the fortress."
