The onlookers didn't know exactly what had happened or where the person in the Batman costume had gone. But one thing was clear—this Behemoth wasn't something they could contend with.
At this moment, the Destroyer was staring in a certain direction. It had already ignored Sif and the other warriors. Its entire focus was on the one person who had caused it a little harm.
It wasn't as if the Destroyer itself had intelligence, but the person controlling it was irritated by the man in the costume. And that person was none other than Loki.
Following its gaze, Thor and the others saw a broken three-story building. Suddenly, from a hole in the front, John walked out in his comical suit. His cape was tattered, half of his mask was missing, and there was a scorch mark on his chest.
John felt helpless and glanced at Thor, who was still standing like a statue. 'Can't you hurry up? I'm dying here.' John thought bitterly.
Seeing the Behemoth advancing toward him again while charging an attack in its mouth, John became serious. He waited for the right moment to move. As the beam fired, he jumped to the side, narrowly saving himself again.
As for the building, it had already lost its support on the ground floor and was slowly falling sideways. However, because of another building beside it, it didn't completely collapse. Suddenly, a child's cry came from the building.
John was shocked and hurriedly turned in the direction of the sound. Seeing that the Destroyer was charging its attack again, he leaped into the third floor using his wind-element abilities.
Inside the tilted apartment, John found a girl, around six or seven years old, crying loudly inside an old wardrobe. Picking her up, he tried to console her, but she wouldn't stop crying.
Suddenly, John saw a red flash of light heading toward him. With nowhere to jump, he used his wind element again, leaping as high as 20 meters into the air.
But that was where John made a mistake. Hugging the little girl tightly, he started free-falling. A crimson beam shot toward him once again. Unable to dodge, John deployed multiple water barriers.
When the attack struck his back, it produced a deafening boom. The force sent them flying even further, landing in front of Thor and the other warriors with a loud crash.
When the dust cleared, John was still hugging the girl in his arms. Fortunately, the child was unharmed, though unconscious. As for John, he looked miserable. He never imagined that this trip to Mexico would be so life-threatening.
Jane and Thor hurried to John, taking the girl from his arms and moving her to safety. John, with his half-broken mask, was now recognizable, but nobody paid attention. He was too injured to stand and simply lay there, half-conscious.
The Destroyer didn't stop and advanced toward him again. But this time, Thor stepped in front of John.
As the Destroyer prepared to attack, Thor said, "Brother, whatever I have done to wrong you, whatever led you to this, I am truly sorry." Seeing that the Destroyer had paused, Thor continued, "But these people are innocent. Taking their lives will gain you nothing. Take mine and end this."
Thor finished speaking and seeing the destroyer turned away. He smiled faintly, thinking that Loki still cared for him. But suddenly, the Destroyer backhanded Thor, sending him flying and leaving him gravely injured.
Thor lay on the ground, on the verge of death. Jane ran to him, tears streaming down her face. Nobody noticed that John, still lying on the ground, slowly slipped away.
Using the last of his energy, John used his wind element to escape. He reached the spot where he had changed into his costume earlier. After changing back into his regular clothes, John walked out of the broken shop as if nothing had happened. No one suspected him.
The rest of the story unfolded as it did in the movie. Thor regained his powers, and to be honest it was sight to behold. After defeating the Destroyer and turning it into useless scraps of metal, Thor returned to the group.
The most surprised person was Jane, who looked at Thor and said, "So, is this how you normally look?"
"More or less," Thor replied with a smile.
"It's a good look," Jane muttered under her breath.
Thor then turned to John and said, "It's good you're safe, my friend. If there's time in the future, we'll drink together again. And thank you for protecting everyone—"
John, understanding what Thor was about to say, interrupted him. "Alright, Thor. When you come back to Earth next time, come and find me." Thor smiled knowingly and turned to his friends.
"We must go to the Bifrost site," Thor said. He then looked back at everyone and added, "I must have words with my brother."
Coulson arrived and said to Thor, "I don't think you've been completely honest with me."
Thor smiled. "Know this, Son of Coul: you and I fight for the same cause—the protection of this world. From this day forward, you can count me as your ally."
After bidding everyone farewell, Thor left with his friends.
Watching Thor leave, John muttered to himself, "I'm not going on any sightseeing trips again until I reach the peak of Senior Apprentice Wizard."
The next day, John flew back to New York. Upon returning home, he met Tony in the living room.
"So, how was your trip?" Tony asked.
John thought about it and replied, " little jumpy, More than I expected."
