"Has anyone ever told you that playing tough usually brings consequences? You think I wouldn't dare kill you?"
"What did you say?"
Feng Mo's words caught Monya off guard, making him pause, still foolishly confused. It took him a moment to process, and when he did, his refined expression contorted in anger.
"You dare insult a bishop of the Church? Do you know how grave a crime that is? If you don't want to become one of our test subjects, kneel down and beg for forgiveness."
Feng Mo looked at the indoctrinated man before him with a mix of exasperation and amusement. Reasoning with Monya would be pointless, so he signaled subtly to Hua Qin, who gave a confirming nod. Feng Mo decided to skip the niceties.
"Little Y, prepare the ion cannon!"
He activated his T3 Black Obsidian combat armor without hesitation and immediately took out his most powerful weapon: the ion laser cannon.
The walls of the office collapsed outward, revealing dozens of T3 Zircon-class mechas, and a massive shadow engulfed the entire base as the Hurricane moved into position overhead.
Monya's eyes widened in terror as he finally grasped the full extent of the trap he had walked into. Feng Mo's feigned interest in the Church had merely been a ruse to keep him talking long enough. Monya realized now that Feng Mo had intended to kill him from the start. With a primal roar, Monya's body expanded, transforming into a towering beast with the head of an ape, the torso of a tiger, bear-like shoulders, and wings—an imposing five-meter figure brimming with ferocity.
With bloodshot eyes locked on Feng Mo, Monya braced himself, ready to unleash his strength. But before he could act, Feng Mo's ion cannon was already fully charged.
Feng Mo lifted the massive 130mm cannon, locked on to the monstrous figure, and pulled the trigger. A blinding blue beam shot out, but without waiting to see its impact, Feng Mo activated his boosters, lifted Hua Qin, and flew into the sky.
Monya, faced with the ion blast, didn't dodge. Instead, he summoned a layer of metallic fluid over his body, forming a T2-grade battle armor. It was barely enough to block the shot, and he braced himself to take the hit head-on.
"Boom!"
The massive explosion sent debris flying and created a cloud of smoke. When it cleared, Monya's towering beast form reappeared, severely damaged but still standing. Feng Mo was slightly surprised—Monya's body had absorbed more damage than expected.
Monya's armor was shattered, and his blood-covered arms hung limply, useless. But Feng Mo wasn't about to give him any chance to recover.
As soon as Monya's form reemerged, the thirty mechas around him had their laser guns trained and ready.
"Fire!"
With a command from Feng Tianyi, Feng Mo's head of security, thirty beams converged on the monstrous figure, obliterating Monya and leaving only scorched fragments where he once stood. The battle was over as quickly as it had begun.
For all his strength, Monya's mutation couldn't withstand starship-grade firepower. In this era, not even the strongest individual could survive against such overwhelming technology.
With Monya defeated, Feng Mo set to work on moving his base to the newly expanded starport. The office building there was requisitioned for his operations, and the demolished fortress base would be rebuilt from scratch.
Feng Mo immediately called Chu Yunjian, who appeared on the screen in a sharp outfit, surrounded by documents awaiting her approval. After briefly expressing his longing for her, he recounted the incident with Monya. Chu Yunjian nodded thoughtfully.
"The Federation has launched a full investigation into the New Human Church. Much of this information has reached the Chu family too. It seems their headquarters might be beyond Federation influence, likely deep in the Chaos Sea."
"So far, no one knows the extent of their capabilities, but if they can survive out there, they likely have at least a T4 fleet. Be careful, Feng Mo. The Chu fleet is ready to assist Storm at any time."
Feng Mo smiled at her reassurance. With his fleet's recent upgrades, he felt ready for almost any challenge—at least, so long as no T5 starships were involved. He hadn't yet tested the quasi-T5 ion cannon on Hurricane, and he was eager to see it in action.
After the call, Feng Mo leaned back, eyes closed, as Hua Qin quietly approached to massage his head. He relaxed into the chair, considering how best to lure the Demon Lord's fleet out of the Demon Star System. With recent security breaches, the Demon Lord was more cautious than ever, making a trap harder to spring.
"Hua Qin, if you wanted to force someone out of their comfort zone, how would you do it?"
Hua Qin paused before replying, "Commander, I'm not sure, but if we put ourselves in their shoes, we might consider what they're missing."
Her suggestion sparked an idea in Feng Mo. The Demon Lord needed rare resources: quasi-T5 starship designs, dark matter, and dark energy crystals. Any of these items could serve as bait.
Feng Mo's plan was taking shape: lure the Demon Lord with precious materials, then ambush his fleet. By weakening the Demon Star System's forces through repeated ambushes, Feng Mo could eventually gain the upper hand.
"Hua Qin, contact Alisa. We need to expedite the construction of two more T4 Scorpion Tail stealth bombers. Have the Chen family rush the required materials."
"Understood!"
The Scorpion Tail stealth bombers were essential for an ambush. With four of them, he could unleash devastating firepower capable of destroying several times their number in enemy ships. But such heavy firepower came with high costs, and Feng Mo was stretching his resources to the limit.
Feng Mo's plan to destabilize the Demon Star System was almost fully formed. The Demon System was isolated in the Chaos Sea and relied on intermediaries for intelligence. This made it easier for him to create a closed-loop strategy.
The Demon Star System's primary asset was slaves, a commodity Storm Star desperately need
ed. This demand-and-supply cycle would bring his plans full circle.
