Feng Mo's exceptional talent shone brightly once again. Under his command, every barrage from the fleet landed with devastating precision—striking the enemy ships' energy cores, armories, or even directly destroying their bridges.
"Charge the ion laser cannons and electromagnetic railgun turrets," Feng Mo commanded. "Auto-target the enemy fleet's movements."
"Fire!"
With another command, eleven beams shot forth. Bai Yanbing stared at the radar images in disbelief. The enemy's warship was equipped with six main cannons and sixteen secondary turrets, clearly designed for overwhelming firepower.
Another volley obliterated eight of the Bai family's T4 ships. Bai Yanbing couldn't believe the power of this quasi-T5 battleship. Was the Hurricane really that strong?
Watching the Hurricane barrel through his fleet like an unstoppable force, Bai Yanbing realized that the enemy's target was likely his flagship. Feng Mo was aiming for a decapitation strike. Despite his fear, Bai Yanbing refused to back down. If they wanted to trade blows, he'd make it costly.
A round of the Hurricane's fire might destroy eight T4 ships, but how many rounds could it take in return? Bai Yanbing was prepared to sacrifice thirty of his T4 ships if it meant killing Feng Mo.
"Order all T4 and T3 ships to charge their main and secondary cannons," Bai Yanbing commanded. "Fire at that battleship! Blow it apart!"
A second barrage of laser fire rained down on the Hurricane. The ship's energy shields took the brunt of the attack, and inside the Hurricane's bridge, Feng Mo felt the pressure increase. The energy shield levels had dropped to 35%, and another volley would break through.
But Feng Mo had planned for this.
"Prepare all main and secondary cannons," he ordered. "Notify the Mello sisters that the moment has come. Ready to engage!"
"Fire!"
This time, the Hurricane fired all six main cannons and sixteen secondary turrets in one massive volley, targeting the enemy's defensive fleet surrounding the flagship.
Meanwhile, aboard the cloaked T4 Scorpion-class stealth bombers, the Mello sisters saw the explosion of the enemy's defense ships. They seized the opportunity and moved into optimal striking position behind the enemy flagship.
"Use all our firepower," one of the sisters commanded. "Target the flagship and its escort ships. Launch everything!"
Nearly a hundred shock missiles and proton torpedoes flooded toward the enemy ships, followed by another barrage of pulse torpedoes and twenty antimatter annihilation missiles.
"Warning! Our flagship has been locked onto by enemy ships!" A series of alarms blared on Bai Yanbing's bridge. "Energy shields at full power, attempting to intercept incoming fire!"
Cold sweat dripped down Bai Yanbing's back. On the radar, he saw the two enemy stealth bombers that had appeared on his left flank. His heart sank. He had never anticipated that Feng Mo would have such stealth ships in his arsenal.
"BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!"
The sound of armor shattering reverberated throughout the flagship. Explosions ripped through the ship's hull, throwing crew members around like rag dolls. Every system flashed red, and parts of the ship were torn open, revealing the cold, star-studded void outside.
Some crew members caught a final glimpse of the fiery explosions consuming the ship before being engulfed in the inferno, their bodies incinerated or left as floating debris.
Bai Yanbing and the entire flagship of the Bai family's fleet were engulfed in a massive fireball, taking with them the entire momentum of the Bai family's forces. The destruction of a fleet's flagship was a psychological and strategic catastrophe, triggering widespread panic and disorder among the remaining ships.
As Feng Mo had anticipated, the Bai family's fleet fell into chaos. T3 and T2 ships began to retreat in droves, and the Mello sisters, seeing the pandemonium, ordered another devastating strike.
"While they're in disarray, let's light another fire under them! Launch all kinetic beam missiles at the enemy's T3 missile ship!" one of the sisters commanded.
As mentioned earlier, interstellar missile ships had immense firepower but were incredibly vulnerable. With their hulls packed with volatile munitions, an explosion could spell doom for nearby friendly ships.
Without protection, the T3 missile ship was struck by the Scorpions' kinetic beam missiles. The ship's shields failed to withstand the assault, and it detonated in a massive explosion, lighting up the surrounding void and taking nearby ships with it. The Mello sisters watched in awe, their excitement palpable.
The twin hammer blows to the Bai family's morale left the fleet in complete disarray. Few ships could muster any resistance, and many captains either fled or fought among themselves for control. The battle had turned entirely one-sided.
With the Windmill Star System under lockdown, any fleeing Bai family ships were quickly captured or destroyed. Feng Mo turned his gaze toward the rebuilt Bai family starport, which he had destroyed a year ago. It now stood gleaming and new, as though calling to him.
But just as Feng Mo entertained the thought of claiming it, a video call came through to the Hurricane's bridge. It was from his uncle, Gu Jun.
"Xiao Mo," Gu Jun said, "I've just received word from the Snowhawk Empire's parliament. They've decided that the Bai family's homeworld should remain under the Empire's jurisdiction. Your mission is to annihilate the Bai family, but the population on the planet must be left untouched."
"Xiao Mo, this is non-negotiable. The Bai family is still an Empire-affiliated noble house, and we have to respect the Empire's claim. However, they've agreed to compensate you afterward."
"I understand, Uncle," Feng Mo replied, though internally, he couldn't help but feel a pang of frustration. He had just set his sights on the starport, only for it to be snatched away.
"If their compensation isn't good enough…
" Feng Mo thought to himself with a huff. "We'll see about that."
