Honestly I had no idea what her special present was but I couldn't help but look forward to it, The conversation with my mother had also made me slightly exited about my birthday. I didn't expect something incredible but I wondered if Ella and the others would get me presents as well, And what they would get.
'Well I'm sure the weeks will fly by' I didn't see any point in continuing to think about it so I pushed it away and focused.
"Alexia…will you marry me?"
"To basic"
"Will you do the honors of becoming my wife?"
"Maybe" I chewed on my lip and probably looked stupid from the distance as I talked to myself out loud.
The only positive thing about my rehearsal was that I reached Alexia's room very quickly. My eyes soon landed on a closed door that seemed much grander then the rest in the mannor, Perhaps it was the engravings of dragons that were spewing fire at each other.
'Didn't she saw it was a gift from one of the beast commanders?' I remember how annoyed Alexia had seemed when she told me about it during my first weeks in the capital years ago.
The beast territory function much differently than the human kingdom did. Here bloodline mattered most, If you weren't born a noble then becoming one would be incredibly hard. The only ways to do so would be buying a title for an huge amount of coins or earning achievements against the demons.
'Or marrying one….' I was the hero so my title itself held more standing then royalty although I still had done two of the three.
I was enganged to a princess and had lead the fight against the demons for years, And hopefully I would be engaged to a duchess in a few short hours as well. In the beast territory though it was all about strength, If you were strong you could rise from nothing and stand at the peak of hsame had the willpower.
I had never been but I knew that the beast territory held a tournament every other year. The strongest of the beast kin fought tooth and nail until only one of them was left standing, And that was who was hailed as king. The current beast king is was considered one of the strongest fighters on the continent and he had won the tournament for the past thirty years in a row. As for the beast commanders they were the four strongest who made it the furthest in the tournament, Besides the king of course.
Apparently one of the beast commanders had lost in a duel against Alexia when she was in her twenties and had been obsessed with her ever since. The engraved door was a gift made out of expensive oak you could only find in the south which is the only reason Alexia had decided to keep it, Her exact statement was that she saw no reason to refuse free things even if she was rich enough to buy it herself.
'The next tournament is soon isn't it' i muttered with slight interest as I came to a stop in front of the intimidating door.
It was said to be a truly incredible battle so I couldn't help but be interested. I had never been to the beast territory besides the outer territories although I had met the beast king once. He was a proud man who smiled down at a young boy who had just became hero and asked to duel, I'm pretty sure I would have been flattened if Alexia hadn't stepped in.
'Maybe I'll go watch it' It would definitely be interesting although for now my attention was focused elsewhere.
"…." I stared at the oak and took a few deep breaths before steeling my determination.
Knock
Knock
Knock
I slowly hit my knuckle against the hard wood and waited for a response. My foot tapped against the floor with every second passing until I grew confused, I knocked a few more times and yet I still didn't receive a response or hear anything on the other side of the door.
'The servant said she was in her room…' I mumbled in my head with worry filling my chest.
'Is she okay?' It wasn't like Alexia to take a nap which left me running over scenarios in my head.
'What do I do?' I had already set up our entire night so I didn't want to just walk away without seeing her.
