After about ten minutes, Leon opened his eyes and noticed the cocoon that had formed near the dungeon core. It pulsed faintly, like a heartbeat, as though preparing to give life to whatever monstrosity lay within. He eyed it carefully, thoughts swirling in his head. I wonder what's going to emerge... he mused, silently hoping for a magical-type boss.

He glanced over at Luna, who was still deep in meditation. "It'll probably hatch in another ten minutes or so," he muttered to himself, his voice barely a whisper in the eerie silence of the dungeon.

Out of curiosity, Leon tried using his appraisal skill on the core and the cocoon. Unfortunately, his appraisal yielded little information beyond the fact that the cocoon housed a Seed of the Plague Demon. That revelation stirred a mixture of understanding and caution within him. So it's a plague demon… makes sense given the rats, he thought, reflecting on the nature of this dungeon.

Dungeon core also has types after all, Like this Plague type dungeon core thus it chose this sewers which has not been maintained after Luna's father death, leading to infestation of large number of Plague rats which resulted in nest formation which in turn invited the Dungeon core.

The dungeon core's purpose was clear now: once the boss was defeated, the core would flee, leaving behind a reward. But if someone dared to approach the core while it was hatching, the cocoon would break, and there would be no more dungeon core. Taming a dungeon core, Leon knew, was an incredibly rare feat, with odds so slim they were nearly impossible. It required either a powerful time-based spell to freeze the core in place or a rare domination scroll, neither of which could be found in a mere tutorial town like the one they are in.

Leon chuckled quietly at the thought. If only I had something like that, he considered. But for now, he focused on the task at hand—defeating the boss, claiming whatever reward the core would leave behind, and getting out of this sewer-turned-dungeon intact.

After a few more minutes, Luna opened her eyes and looked at Leon. "Let's make a plan," she said, and Leon nodded in agreement.

"First, let me tell you what skills I can use," Luna began. "There's Shadow Control, which you've probably seen a lot already. Then, I have Shadow Dive, a kind of teleportation spell that lets me move from one shadow to another. I also have Heart Strike, Backstab, typical assassin skills. And finally, there's Dark Poison, though I doubt that'll be much use here."

Leon listened carefully, already formulating ideas based on Luna's abilities.

Leon nodded as Luna listed her skills. He absorbed the information, already formulating ideas in his head. "Alright," he started, "your Shadow Control will be our key for positioning, especially if things get out of hand. We can rely on your Shadow Dive to move quickly and avoid direct attacks from the boss."

He paused, considering her next abilities. "Heart Strike and Backstrike will be critical for dealing big damage from behind or when it's distracted. As for Dark Poison..." He frowned slightly. "Yeah, given the plague theme here, I doubt it'll be effective against whatever comes out of that cocoon."

Luna nodded in agreement. "So, what do you have in mind?"

"Here's the plan," Leon said, leaning in. "I'll stay in front and keep its attention, using my summons and Aether magic to weaken it. You can use Shadow Dive to flank it and hit it with your assassin abilities, especially when it's vulnerable. The key will be hitting it hard when it's distracted. I'll do my best to block its attacks, but I need you to make sure it doesn't overwhelm us with sheer force."

Luna's eyes gleamed with determination. "Got it. I'll focus on dodging and finding the right moments to strike."

Leon added, "We have to watch for any tricks this boss might have. If it has any area-of-effect spells or summoning abilities, we'll need to be ready to adapt."

"Okay, I'll be the main dealer, and you'll be the supporter and secondary dealer?" Luna asked, confirming the strategy. Leon nodded.

"Yes, I'll be tanking too. I've got defensive spells," Leon replied, and Luna nodded in agreement.

Crack!

Both turned toward the sound.

"Right on time," Leon said as shadows coiled around Luna's hands, forming two gleaming obsidian daggers. Leon smiled as he summoned his own weapon—a white staff with a red gemstone on top.

"Where did you get that?" Luna asked, her eyes narrowing as she recognized the staff. It belonged to Brian, the man who killed her parents and loyal supporters of her father, the former city lord.

"My familiar stole it after killing Brian," Leon shrugged casually.

"Huh?" Luna looked at him in shock.

"Oh yeah, Roselia killed him in a fit of rage," Leon said nonchalantly.

"What the—what do you mean she killed him? Brian was a Tier 3 fighter! How did she manage to kill him despite only being Tier 1?" Luna asked, bewildered.

"She used her brains and her illusion abilities. She made him her puppet, forced him to humiliate himself in front of his son, and then ordered him to kill himself," Leon explained, still shivering slightly at the memory of how Roselia described the scene.

Luna's face went pale with fear as she absorbed the information, but it quickly transformed into one of satisfaction. "She's good," Luna said with a sly smile.

'Women are terrifying,' Leon thought as he saw the sinister grin spread across Luna's face.

"Anyway, let's focus on the boss," Leon said, snapping out of the conversation as Luna nodded in agreement. Their eyes fixed on the large cocoon ahead, which started to crack open.

A hand emerged, holding a staff.

"I guess we're facing a magical type," Leon said, preparing himself. Luna nodded, feeling confident since she had an advantage against mages. But before they could react, another hand shot out, this one holding a sword.

"What the hell?" both Leon and Luna muttered in unison, eyes widening.
