After leaving the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, Yu Xiaogang journeyed through many hardships before finally reaching Spirit City. Given his almost useless talent, joining the Spirit Hall wasn't easy.
However, he managed to gain entry by presenting his identification as the son of Yu Yuan Zhen, the current clan leader of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan. Out of respect for the clan and its powerful leader, the Spirit Hall reluctantly allowed Yu Xiaogang to join.
Once settled in Spirit City, Yu Xiaogang had a clear goal: to tap into the extensive knowledge within the Spirit Hall's headquarters and find a way to evolve his spirit, shedding his reputation as a failure.
Despite being accepted into the Spirit Hall, Yu Xiaogang's weak abilities meant he was given little attention and poor treatment. At first, he could only access the public library in Spirit City, and even then, he was limited to the first floor. The books available there were basic, mostly containing general knowledge about soul beasts and soul masters.
This frustrated Yu Xiaogang. He had traveled far and wide to join the Spirit Hall with the hope of using its vast resources to advance his spirit. But now, it seemed his expectations had been too high.
His talent was simply too poor, and as a member of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, he would never truly be accepted into the Spirit Hall. The Hall recognized this and would never treat him as one of their own or offer him any real benefits. They were merely indulging him out of respect for his father and his clan.
But Yu Xiaogang wasn't willing to leave empty-handed. If he didn't have the authority to access higher floors, he would find someone who could help him. Though his later theories on spirit evolution would prove to be of little value, there was no denying that Yu Xiaogang had a sharp mind.
At this point in his life, he was still driven by the desire to defy fate and change his destiny. This determination gave him the courage to take bold steps.
As Yu Xiaogang began to look for someone who could grant him access to the higher floors of the library, the live broadcast revealed Bibi Dong's thoughts. Watching from the Pope's Palace, Bibi Dong's face darkened as she recalled the past.
Could it be that... he approached me intentionally back then?
The broadcast continued.
After realizing that the first floor of the public library was limited invaluable resources, Yu Xiaogang began to search for someone with higher status to help him access the upper floors. He tried approaching several influential-looking individuals, but they all ignored him.
Men dismissed him, and women even more so. Yu Xiaogang wasn't particularly good-looking, his talent and strength were unimpressive, and his personality left much to be desired. Only someone inexperienced and naive could fall for his tricks.
Then, by a stroke of luck, Yu Xiaogang spotted a beautiful, innocent-looking girl in the library one day. Since he had spent a lot of time on the first floor, Yu Xiaogang was familiar with the collection. Seizing the opportunity, he helped the girl find the book she was searching for.
The girl was grateful for his assistance, and the two began to discuss the book. The girl, surrounded by soul masters who were more inclined toward combat, found Yu Xiaogang's scholarly demeanor refreshing.
Eventually, the girl introduced herself as Bibi Dong.
The revelation stunned many viewers, including Ning Fengzhi. Bibi Dong, the current Pope of the Spirit Hall, had once crossed paths with Yu Xiaogang, the so-called disgrace of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan. It was almost unbelievable.
Despite the shocking nature of the broadcast, it kept the audience, especially the commoners, thoroughly entertained. The story of a wasteful scion and a high-ranking girl from the Spirit Hall was reminiscent of the dramatic tales found in popular fiction. In a world like Douluo Continent, where entertainment was scarce, this was gripping stuff.
After befriending Bibi Dong, Yu Xiaogang realized that she enjoyed discussing books. Since he had read extensively in his quest to find a way to evolve his spirit, he often flaunted his knowledge in front of her.
Yu Xiaogang's plan worked. Bibi Dong, surrounded by battle-hardened soul masters, found Yu Xiaogang's intellectual persona unique. His presence in her life was unlike anyone else's, and soon enough, Bibi Dong regarded Yu Xiaogang as her best friend.
In time, Bibi Dong developed special feelings for Yu Xiaogang. Meanwhile, Yu Xiaogang, having read through the public library's collection, still hadn't found a solution to evolve his spirit.
Undeterred, Yu Xiaogang set his sights on a new target: getting Bibi Dong to take him to the Spirit Hall's private archives. These archives were closed to the public and contained rare, secretive knowledge that might hold the key to his spirit evolution.
But Yu Xiaogang knew this would not be easy. While it was one thing for friends to meet in the public library, gaining access to the Spirit Hall's private archives was another matter entirely.
If he wanted Bibi Dong to help him, he needed to strengthen their relationship even further.
