-"Amaranta, it's time quickly, enter your registration number!" Johanna Sáenz saw the time and knew that the results had already been uploaded. Amaranta reminded her to enter her registration number. Amaranta sighed and entered the number in the box on the screen.
When the web page loaded, Amaranta could feel her fingers shaking. She looked at the screen nervously.
She then pressed the 'enter' key hard.
The web page flickered and jumped to a different one.
Name: Amaranta Cid
Language: 149
English: 150
Mathematics: 150
Combined Science: 300
Total score: 749
-Amaranta covered her face and turned around to hug Johanna Sáenz, who was speechless. Tears of joy ran down her face.
The total score for the college entrance exam was 750, and Amaranta managed to get a score of 749.
"Amaranta, you are amazing!"
"Seven hundred and forty-nine! That was such a high score. This was practically the highest score ever.
It was just one mark away from 750.
"Mum, I never imagined…" Tears welled up in Amaranta's eyes. She had joined the set and started an intense filming schedule right after the college entrance exams ended. Back then, she felt that it wouldn't be a problem for her to score around 700. She had never imagined that she would be able to get 749. It was such a high score. This was very good news.
Amaranta took out her mobile phone. She couldn't wait to share this news with her grandmother. "Grandma." Grandma Mary was sitting inside the teachers' office. She turned on the speaker on her phone so that Professor Rodriguez could hear as well. "Grandma, my college entrance exam results are out. I got 749." The professor was in disbelief. He stood up when he heard what Amaranta had said. "Please repeat Amaranta, how many marks did you say you got?" he wanted to confirm what he had heard.
-Amaranta repeated, "Seven hundred and forty-nine. I got a deducted grade from the language exam. I got full marks on the other three papers."
-"Grandma, I'm doing very well here. Godmother Johanna is taking good care of me. You have to take care of your health. Get the helper to make you whatever you want to eat. I'll come pick you up as soon as I finish filming, and we can go to the capital together." Grandma answered affirmatively in a happy manner.
-While Grandma Mary was thinking that she had to go to her husband's grave to tell the old man about this. She had to tell him that her granddaughter had made something of herself.
The professor was so happy that he ran to the teachers' office and said incoherently to the dean: "Seven hundred and forty-nine. Seven hundred and forty-nine." The Director was more surprised by the shout than by the number, because he did not understand what Professor Rodriguez was referring to. Until he explained.
-Amaranta also called Izan Marsans after talking to her grandmother. She held her phone and waited excitedly for him to pick up the other end.
"Little Amaranta…"- David Scott picked up the phone and did not even manage to say the words 'Little' when Izan Marsans snatched the phone from him. There was a hint of nervousness in his voice. "Amaranta, are the results in yet?"
"They're out. Seven hundred and forty-nine." Izan could not contain his happiness when he heard the grade.
"Focus on filming for now. I'll celebrate with you once you're done with work." - A small smile formed on Amaranta's lips upon hearing these words from Izan. "Izan, you have to keep your word."
-"Of course." - Izan confirmed, after this he hung up and ended the call.
-The university entrance exams were the first step to changing her destiny. She still had a long way to go in the future. She had to walk step by step, slowly and steadily, to shape her future. Amaranta was sure that she could change her past. Because she now had a future.
Her future…
It would be bright.
-Izan Marsans and ordered David Scott, who was standing beside him: "Inform everyone that today everyone on the team will have extra food."
-David Scott asked, confused, "Captain Marsans, you're in such a good mood today. Did Amaranta say something to you?"
-"That's right, I'm telling you that you received 749 points on the entrance exam." Izan's stoic face didn't change, but his voice sounded happy.
-"Wow! The little girl is really smart! I remember that you got the maximum score for the university entrance exams."
-"When I took the entrance exam, the questions were very easy." Izan replied, downplaying it.
"Easy, my ass," David thought.
He had only received 620 marks back then.
He almost didn't make it into the army.
-"Oh, Captain Marsans, I completely forgot, Amaranta called you, if she hadn't called today, I would have forgotten.
-"I'm gone again. The little girl asked me to let you know that she had joined the filming."
Izan Marsans said in a low voice. "David…"
-"Yes, sir?" He knew something was not right when he heard that annoying voice.
-"You will be in charge of cleaning up after dinner tonight."
-"Yes, Captain Marsans." The most hated task. Davis Scott gave Izan a military salute and then secretly watched him. He couldn't help but suspect that Doctor Cota was right, and that Captain Marsans had fallen in love with little Amaranta.
-"What are you looking at?" David Scott casually chattered, asking, "Captain Marsans, why don't you like Doctor Cota?"
It seemed that his subordinates had a lot of free time lately to be interested in his private life, and he was sure that Cotta would be spreading rumours all over the camp.
He should put a stop to that woman immediately or things would get difficult at the camp, he would be able to seek the support of his parents and things would get very difficult for him to move forward with Amaranta.
He already had too many plans for when Amaranta is in college and for her to leave, so that he would come to ruin his happiness now.
The best thing is to destroy everything that stands in the way of what he has already planned.
-"Since when do I have to give explanations about my personal life?" Izan replied loudly to his subordinate.
-"Isn't that it? I was just asking, I was a little curious, because of what I heard around here?" David Scott answered, somewhat hesitantly.
-"What did you hear?" Izan Marsans asked.
-"Well, I heard that Doctor Cotta said very sadly that you didn't like her because you were surely in love with the Amaranta gang, which I personally have nothing against, but I think that the doctor has spent more time with you, and they know each other better, besides they are closer and have the same taste for the army, they are more suitable to be together" David Scott said without thinking much
-Izan Marsans, felt like his head was going to explode, how could everyone around him be so stupid just by listening to a few whines from a woman who goes around saying nonsense. He really had to talk to that woman, it seems that she didn't understand what he said the last time they talked.
-"Only fools can pay attention to stupid comments, so if you are a stupid fool, keep going. Listening to comments like that, Scott, you'll never get promoted because you're so unintelligent." Izan was furious now.
He left to find that foolish woman.
