CHAPTER 0008

Freedom

I woke up feeling sore. My legs were trembling… no, my whole goddamn body was aching because of last night. Ugh…

I groaned, trying to get up from the bed, but I couldn't even walk straight or stand properly since my legs felt like jelly.

Fuck you, giraffe demon!

I forced myself to walk, making my way to the closet. Thankfully, it wasn't locked this time. I opened the door and was greeted by a massive room full of clothes on hangers.

So many clothes.

At least he has a fashion sense-

It took me exactly an hour to pick out a perfect outfit for myself since half of the clothes were too big on me because he was so huge.

The clothes made me feel even smaller than the giraffe demon did when he stood next to me.

I made my way downstairs to find absolutely no one. This place was empty but heavily decorated with expensive stuff.

This place was so posh that they even had a Mona Lisa painting hanging on the wall, just chillin'.

I followed the hallway, looking around. The walls were adorned with lavish decorations: intricate gold carvings, flowers in elegant vases, and paintings that looked priceless.

Even the ceiling was covered in detailed frescoes, and a plush red carpet stretched down the hall like an endless tunnel.

I stopped in front of a big door that looked different from the others.

It had a sign next to it on the wall saying "Young Master's Office." Who is the young master here anyway?

I was pretty sure no one was inside, so barging in wouldn't really be a problem. But that's where I was wrong.

When I literally barged in, I saw Lucifer standing next to a big glass window, looking out while talking on the phone.

He turned to me, surprised, and quickly hung up the call.

"Venneca? What the hell are you doing here?" he asked, clearly surprised.

I smiled awkwardly. "Sorry… I got bored and thought it would be nice to walk around, and then I found this pretty door thinking no one was in here…" I explained awkwardly.

He grinned and chuckled.

"Well, if you're so interested, then come in, darling." He nodded, gesturing for me to enter.

The office was nothing short of fancy. The room was spacious with high ceilings, and the walls were lined with dark wood paneling that gave it a sophisticated feel.

A large, ornate desk sat in the middle of the room, papers neatly stacked on it. Behind the desk, a grand bookshelf filled with ancient-looking books stretched from floor to ceiling.

A couple of plush leather chairs were positioned in front of the desk, and a luxurious Persian rug covered the floor.

I approached him, whispering, "Don't tell me people here call you 'young master.'" I tried hard not to laugh.

He smirked and whispered back, "What if they do?"

I burst out laughing. "How old are you?"

"Two hundred and twenty years old," he said simply, making me stop laughing.

"Dude… how are you breathing?" I looked at him, bewildered.

"Darling, I am a demon," he laughed.

"Oh…" I mumbled. Now it made sense.

He smiled, seeing my reaction, before clearing his throat. "Anyways, just to let you know, I am going on a meeting trip today, so behave and don't even think about escaping, darling," he said with a smile.

It's not like I could anyway-

I rolled my eyes. "Whatever." But I stopped. I would get too bored to be alone, so I had a plan.

"Can I come too?" I smiled. That question made him smile.

"No," he said simply. Dang it!

"Please? Pretty please? Pretty please with a cherry on top?" That made him laugh slightly. This idiot enjoyed seeing me beg so much, I swear.

"Fine… but on one condition. You will stay by my side."

Pfft—that was easy as hell. "Bet," I grinned. "So when are we going?" I smiled.

"Now. Get ready fast before I change my mind, darling," he smiled.

"Shit—" I mumbled and ran out of there as fast as I could, making him laugh out loud at my reaction.

This giraffe…

. . .

It took me hours to choose a perfect red dress, and after that, there was another awkward silence in the car, which was killing me inside.

We approached a big mansion, and that's where I saw two bodyguards in the outside yard waiting for us.

They followed us inside, and of course, this place was decorated as well.

It wasn't as big considering Lucifer's place was a castle and this was a mansion, but it was still ten times bigger than my aunt's house.

There, I saw two important-looking people. An old woman, who was also a demon, dressed in a fancy red dress, and another young man who was also tall like Lucifer.

It turns out that the woman was Lucifer's grandmother, and she still seemed pretty even if she was 992 years old

The young man was Lucifer's father's big brother—Ace Morningstar.

Turns out they had separated because they had an animosity with Lucifer's father

Now, all of a sudden, they wanted a family meeting since they "missed him."

But Lucifer's father couldn't come and instead sent Lucifer to attend. Both of them looked very serious and scary, if you'd ask me.

The aura around them was dark and definitely not welcoming, although they acted like we were welcome.

I am starting to regret being here…

Although they seemed scary, they were actually kinda nice.

Lucifer and his grandmother just talked about random things, catching up, while the man stared at me like I was some kind of candy.

That made me really uncomfortable, so I got closer to Lucifer to feel less nervous. After a while, it worked since he left me alone.

I was starting to get bored and excused myself to the restroom, but I was actually planning to look around. I was walking around for hours.

The mansion was incredibly fancy. The floors were made of polished marble, and the walls were adorned with expensive-looking paintings and ornate mirrors.

There were intricate chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, casting a warm glow over the rich, dark wood furniture.

Every detail, from the elegant crown molding to the luxurious drapes, screamed opulence.

As I wandered, I suddenly overheard a girl and a man talking.

They seemed younger and definitely weren't maids or bodyguards since they were dressed fancy.

"Why is Dad meeting Uncle Lucifer again?" the boy said.

The girl laughed. "Seriously? You forgot? They have a plan to get rid of Lucifer this way, idiot."

What? They were trying to get rid of Lucifer this way? But aren't they family? Why do they want to get rid of their own grandchild?

What the hell is wrong with this family… I had to warn Lucifer about this before it's too late.

I stepped back, but I didn't notice a vase behind me. I bumped into it, making it fall out of its original place.

It crashed to the ground, shattering into pieces, which made the girl and the boy look around.

They knew someone was watching them. "Who is here?! Show yourself, coward!" the guy shouted angrily.

Their eyes turned blood red, glowing like hot coals.

Fuck.. i am cooked-
