In the ruins of an ancient city now sealed beneath the earth, filled with undead skeletons and shrouded in a sinister black fog that covers every corner of the city.

A skeleton in a dark alley suddenly moved, "Did I reincarnate?" Dave thought to himself upon feeling that he had a body. However, this sensation quickly turned into strangeness.

"Shouldn't I be a baby?" Dave wondered as he realized he could see and hear perfectly but was startled when he moved his hands to touch his face, "Is this a skeletal hand?!" Dave screamed internally and quickly examined his surroundings.

He was in an alley covered with black fog but could see the figures of other standing skeletons throughout the alley, "This can't be right?" Dave touched himself several times in disbelief.

"I'M A SKELETON!" He tried to speak but only his mouth opened and no sound came out, "Did the reincarnation fail? Even if it didn't fail, why did I have to be reborn as a skeleton, damn it!" Dave complained to himself.

Skeletons were considered the weakest creatures in RPG games, even weaker than goblins, but depending on their class, they were even easier to deal with, simply cannon fodder for players to level up.

However, before Dave could come to terms with his current situation, he heard a familiar voice in his mind, or rather, from the depths of his soul.

"Hello, Mr. Hero, can you hear me?" The Goddess's voice sounded in his mind, and Dave quickly tried to say something to respond back but couldn't, "Damn it, I don't have a throat to speak!" Dave thought and soon heard a voice in his mind again.

"Hahaha, don't worry Mr. Hero, to speak to me, just think, and I will be able to hear you. By the way, what did you mean by not having a throat to speak?" Juveline spoke in his mind, and Dave was silent for a moment.

"So it wasn't your intention to reincarnate me into this body?" Dave asked Juveline, and he could hear a murmur of doubt coming from her, "Eh? Wait, you mean you didn't reincarnate as a human? That should be impossible!" Juveline spoke in surprise, and Dave let out a sigh of resignation.

"I'm not even alive right now; I've become a skeleton." Dave said, and there was a brief moment of silence before he heard a surprised scream from Juveline, "How? That shouldn't happen under normal circumstances, much less with you having my blessing!" Juveline said, and Dave could only let out another helpless sigh.

"So what do I do now? Die and let you reincarnate me again?"

"No, no, no. If you die now, having just been born again, your soul will suffer severe damage. Besides, I exhausted all my power bringing you to this world; I don't have any more energy to give you a new life."

"So what do I do now?"

"Well, I have an idea of what might have happened to you. To start, think of the word (Status)."

"Here it says I'm a sacred skeleton, an anomaly." Dave said as he placed his bony finger on his chin, analyzing the status screen that appeared in his mind.

"I understand what happened; this is going to be a bit complicated." Juveline spoke, letting out a sigh before continuing, "An anomaly is when something that shouldn't exist does. Perhaps because you're from another world, the laws of life and death didn't apply correctly to you due to my blessing before your reincarnation, causing your soul to inhabit a skeleton." Juveline spoke with a sad voice, and Dave was silent for a moment.

"SO IT'S YOUR FAULT!"

"Hic."

Dave shouted in his mind, startling Juveline, who quickly began thinking of ways to explain, "Calm down, Mr. Dave, your situation is easy to resolve. I just need to call my sister to correct this issue; give me a moment." Juveline spoke and fell silent again.

"This is really problematic." While waiting for Juveline to return, Dave thought to himself, his journey had just begun with a very difficult start. However, it shouldn't be impossible to resolve his situation; there was just one thing that bothered him.

"If I'm an undead, wouldn't I die using sacred power?" Dave wondered and was tempted to test this hypothesis but waited patiently. Besides him, there were other skeletons in the alley where he found himself, the only difference being that they were immobile as if waiting for something.

Soon Juveline's voice sounded again in Dave's mind, but this time there was another voice along with hers, "So you're my sister's new chosen one." A dark voice, as if from a not very sociable person, echoed in his mind.

"You're Juveline's sister, I imagine the Goddess of Death."

"You are correct, boy, but we have little time, so I will briefly explain the rules to you." The impatient voice continued before Dave could speak.

"An anomaly is something that shouldn't exist. You basically escaped the laws of life and death due to my sister, remaining only under the laws of life, making you an anomaly. I will correct this by blessing you as well, but unlike my sister, I have another mission for you."

"And what is it?"

"Well, you are a new species. It may not seem like it, but I, as the Goddess of Death, disagree with the existence of undead in general who escape the laws of the life cycle. Therefore, upon correcting your anomaly, you will become the first undead with a life expectancy; congratulations."

"Thank you, I guess?" Dave murmured, trying to understand what the new Goddess wanted to explain.

"So what I ask of you is simple, make your new race of undead the only one in the world. Although I don't know how, I believe that during your process of getting stronger, you will receive some enlightenment, so do we have a deal?"

"Sure, it's not like I can refuse either." Dave said, although what she presented might be a daunting task, it wasn't something impossible.

"Done, it's finished. Goodbye."

The Goddess's words startled Dave; he expected some light show or the whole process of an oath and everything, but it was quite simple in reality.

Thinking about it, he summoned (Status) once again.
