Fateful night

Kay woke up to a loud alarm at 9:30, realizing he was already half an hour late for training. He hurriedly got dressed and rushed to his car, determined to make it to the training field as quickly as possible.

As he drove, Kay felt the pressure of arriving late in just his second month with the team. Fear of being scolded by his coach pushed him to speed up, but his mind was distracted by regrets about staying out late with friends the night before.

In his rush, Kay made a mistake and ran a red light, leading to a collision with a furniture transport truck. The impact was immediate, and Kay found himself unable to avoid the crash.

"Hey, young man! Young man!!"

"Wake up!! Wake up!!"

 "Call an ambulance quickly!!"

Amidst the urgency of these calls, Kay found himself engulfed in intense pain, every part of his body throbbing. The sheer agony made it challenging to distinguish the voices of those around him, a disorienting effect of the accident's impact. As the pain overwhelmed his senses, the last sound that echoed in his fading consciousness was the unmistakable wail of approaching ambulance sirens.

Kay, a young man in his twenties, his dream was becoming a professional and renowned football player since his childhood. Devoted to realizing this aspiration, he invested a huge effort in attending rigorous training sessions and adhering to a disciplined, healthy diet.

His prowess in ball control was exceptional, garnering optimistic predictions from everyone around him regarding a promising football future.

As the sun set and rose again, marking the passage of time, Kay's journey toward the realization of his dream continued its steady course.

The turning point arrived when, at the youthful age of eighteen, he proudly affixed his signature to his first professional contract.

On the field, his intelligence, strategic positioning, and the seemingly magical quality of his passes became the defining elements that distinguished him, contributing significantly to numerous triumphant moments for his team.

After basking in the success of two fruitful seasons with his initial club, a transformative opportunity emerged on the horizon. A prominent club in the prestigious English Premier League recognized Kay's talent and beckoned him to join their ranks.

This move not only elevated his status in the realm of football but also solidified his position among the elite, placing his name prominently among the world's most exceptional and promising talents.

As Kay spent more time with his team, he earned a spot in the starting lineup, displacing the team's captain.

This didn't sit well with many of his teammates, who began to feel angry towards him. Despite this, Kay's reputation as a talented player in the media protected him from criticism.

However, on a pivotal and regrettable night, Kay decided to host a celebration at his residence, inviting friends to partake in the party.

The festivities extend into the late hours, blurring the boundary between night and day, and Kay goes to sleep very late that night.

As dawn broke, a harsh reality dawned upon Kay, and it was that he was running behind schedule for the crucial training session that awaited him. In a frenzied attempt to catch up, he hardly made his way to his recently acquired car.

With the engine roaring to life, Kay set out on his journey, the unmistakable urgency hanging thick in the air. During this hurried departure, he careened through a red traffic light, without being careful about it.

Suddenly, with an almost surreal quality, a furniture transport truck materialized ominously in Kay's path. The sheer velocity at which he was hurtling forward rendered him powerless to evade the imminent collision.

In the blink of an eye, the once-promising trajectory that had defined Kay's career took a harrowing turn, as the catastrophic event unfolded, leaving an unforeseen and daunting shadow cast over his path of success.

"Hey, young man! Young man!!"

"Call an ambulance quickly!!"

Kay couldn't distinguish the voices around him due to the injuries. The last thing he heard before losing consciousness was the sound of sirens of the ambulance.

The ambulance swiftly carried Kay, racing towards the nearest hospital with the desperate hope of saving him.

Upon arrival, a complete medical team dispatched by Kay's team awaited, underscoring the immense value he held within the team.

The moment the ambulance arrived, they hurriedly transported Kay into the hospital, where doctors swiftly advanced towards the operating room, signaling the beginning of a critical surgery that would determine the future of a future star according to many opinions.

In their usual spot in the backyard, Max and Reina, Kay's parents, enjoyed their routine of sipping coffee.

Reina took a thoughtful sip, her gaze meeting Max's, as she remarked, "Do you think Kay might encounter challenges with his new team, especially considering it's his first time venturing beyond the city? I've offered him a lot of advice to reconsider, but he remains resolute. I can't help but wonder where he inherited this level of stubbornness." she announces looking at her husband with a look of suspense.

"We shouldn't stand in his way of pursuing his dreams. Instead, we should support him to continue his ambition," Max replied, acting like he didn't recognize her intention.

Reina smiled and contemplated Max's words before responding, "I hope so. Kay has always shown exceptional talent and determination.

If he maintains the same dedication he had before, there's a good chance he'll shine again in the English Premier League with his current team, just as he did before."

"Definitely, he's our son after all," Max stopped their conversation just as his phone rang, signaling an ominous call.

"Yes, that's true. That's me," Max responded to the phone call, and after a few seconds, Reina observed a noticeable shift in his facial expression.

"What's wrong? What happened?" Reina questioned with a palpable sense of concern.

Max turned towards his wife, attempting to compose himself. He then locked eyes with Reina and uttered the unsettling news, "They say Kay had a car accident, and he's undergoing surgery now."

Upon hearing the news, Reina collapsed, tears streaming down her face. Max, also grappling with overwhelming emotions, struggled to maintain composure. The news had struck them like a thunderbolt.

In an attempt to console his wife, Max embraced Reina, urging her, "Get up; you have to be strong in times like these. Our son needs us now more than ever. We must go visit him."

Max prepared for the journey ahead, heading to the car and loading their small luggage. After a brief interval, Reina emerged, clutching an old picture framed in her hands.

The image depicted a moment from the past, capturing the essence of a young boy, around eight years old, holding hands with a woman.

In his other hand, the boy cradled a ball. The woman bore a striking resemblance to Reina a decade earlier, and the child in the picture was a younger Kay.

Max and Reina swiftly entered the car, embarking on the urgent journey to the hospital where their son, Kay, was undergoing treatment.

Two tense hours later, they arrived at the medical facility, their hearts pounding with worry as they hastened towards the operating room, desperate for any updates.

To their dismay, upon arrival, they learned that the surgery had not yet concluded, intensifying the anxiety that gripped their hearts.

Another agonizing hour of waiting elapsed, during which the parents keenly observed the status board. The light indicating the ongoing operation eventually extinguished, signaling a conclusion.

At that moment, a doctor emerged from the room, and the air became charged with a mix of anticipation and trepidation.

"How is he, doctor?" Reina asked, her eyes filled with tears.

"I have good news and bad news. The good news is that he has overcome the danger, and he will live."

"And the bad news?"

"The bad news is that he..." The doctor hesitated, creating a moment of suspense, leaving the revelation hanging in the air.
