Evelyn: Are you hungry? I have snacks in my room. - She said with eyes full of desire.
Lucas: No, thank you. Eating before training might give me indigestion, you know? Haha. But thanks for the offer. I won't take up any more of your time. See you tomorrow, Evelyn. Goodbye! - He bid farewell with a smile, waving his hand.
Evelyn was in shock, mouth slightly open. Did she know Lucas was dense, but to this level? She couldn't believe it.
"What? Seriously, Lucas? Is something wrong with you?" I murmured as I flipped through the novel on my phone. "It's one of my favorite novels, but this chapter, my friend, disappointed me, you know? Sigh... why are so many novel protagonists so dense and clueless? What was the author thinking when writing this? For God's sake."
I checked the comments to see what people thought. "Yes, as expected, they're tearing it apart. It was to be expected. How can they give us this resolution and in the end nothing happens? It's frustrating, you know? I've been waiting 150 chapters for something here, but you ruined it. Sigh..."
"But here I am, loyal to this work. I guess I'll wait for the next chapter, but not before writing a small complaint about this chapter. It's good to complain, you know? Maybe the author will see the comments and start writing romance properly."
After writing a brief complaint of no more than 300 words, I received a comment saying, "If you dislike it so much, why don't you become the protagonist and change it yourself? Let's see if it's that easy."
"Man, author, it's not that difficult either. If I were the protagonist and had his powers, your novel wouldn't last more than 100 chapters, you know?" I replied. I got up from bed and started shadowboxing.
"If I were the protagonist, villains wouldn't last even a whole chapter," I murmured as I threw punches in the air. "Poof, poof."
While throwing punches in the air, I stumbled over a plastic cup and fell flat on my face. "Ahhh, damn!" I complained, feeling a sharp pain in my hip. "It hurts like hell," I murmured as I got up from the floor. It looked like I would have to clean my room after all.
I limped out of the room from the fall and headed to the kitchen. In the hallway, I stopped in front of the mirror. And there I was, looking average: long black hair, dark brown eyes, and big dark circles. "Haha, I look like a dead fish with these dark circles," I joked to myself. "I think I'll eat something and then go to sleep."
I made a light sandwich and a cup of coffee, then headed to the living room couch to watch something on TV while eating. "There's never anything interesting on TV... wait," I said as I changed channels and saw someone familiar. "Isn't that my classmate, Sebastian?"
On the TV screen was a handsome teenager, blond with blue eyes. Damn, he was handsome. Yeah, I say it with envy. You know how many girls throw themselves at him in school? Damn playboy. Not only was he good-looking, he was also athletic. The bastard was incredible at soccer. It looked like they had won a national tournament and were qualifying for another international one. How envious.
Unlike this playboy, I was like a shadow that hides when someone shines and no one pays attention to him. Always in the corner, alone. That's why I spent my time reading novels, mangas, and watching anime. When I did that, I felt happy because through those stories I could experience different worlds and realities that could never happen to me. Or at least I thought so.
After satisfying myself, I returned to my room and lay down. I checked my phone before sleeping and noticed I had received another message from the author. "Hehe, did my complaint hurt you so much, huh?" as I read what I had written. "I look forward to seeing how you change my novel, though let's see if you don't die first haha." Huh? Is the author drunk or something? I guess a lot of complaints got to him, but hey, maybe he'll change the way he writes the next chapter. I look forward to it as sleep invaded me and seconds later I fell completely asleep.
Upon waking up, I felt heat and noticed intense clarity filtering through the leaves of the tree under which I was lying. A gentle breeze caressed my face, something completely different from my usual bedroom. As I slowly opened my eyes, I was greeted with a sight that took my breath away: gigantic islands floating on the horizon. At first, I thought it was all part of a dream, but when I pinched my cheek and felt the sharp pain, I instantly knew it wasn't. I was outside my house, in a completely new and unknown place.
Wait... where the hell am I? I touched the tip of my nose trying to understand what was happening. "I remember what I did before appearing here. First I was eating, then in my room to sleep. I was about to fall asleep when the author's message came, drunk from the novel. Then I got sleepy and fell asleep, nothing more." Wait, what did that author's message say? "I look forward to seeing how you change my novel, though let's see if you don't die first haha." No, it can't be true.
I looked around as I remembered the author's message and everything started to become clearer. But... how could I believe in this? Sure, I was an otaku and knew what it meant, but still didn't believe it. It could be a hallucination or something related to the weekend with almost no sleep.
As I tried to assimilate everything that was happening, I touched my right pocket and felt something in it. "What is this?" There was some kind of letter. Upon opening it, I saw that it was from Arcanum Academy. Wasn't this the academy from the novel "Legends of Aetheria"? There was also a small piece of paper in the envelope. I unfolded it and it said: "Hello, bastard. If you're reading this, it means you're in Legends of Aetheria. You know, I took your comment a little personally, that egocentric complaint broke my sanity. So I told you, didn't I? Try to change my novel as you said in your comment. You're free to do whatever you want. Try to survive at least ten chapters haha. No, on the contrary, I hope you die, bastard."
After finishing reading, the sheet vanished from my hands. I looked at the blue sky and closed my eyes, inhaling deeply before releasing it.
"You damn bastard!!!!"
