Chapter 41

We stepped inside our cozy cottage, the warm glow of the fireplace enveloping us in a sense of comfort and tranquility. Damian closed the door behind us, his eyes never leaving mine.

I smiled, feeling a sense of peace wash over me. We were finally home, away from the darkness of Mr. Blackwood's world.

Damian's hands found mine, his fingers intertwining with mine in a gentle grasp. "I'm so glad we're here," he said, his voice low and husky.

I nodded, my heart full of love for this man. "Me too," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.

We stood there for a moment, taking in the familiar sights and sounds of our cottage. The creaky floorboards, the smell of freshly baked bread, the sound of birds singing outside.

Then, Damian spoke up, his voice filled with determination. "We'll rebuild our lives here," he said. "We'll start fresh, away from my father's influence."

I nodded, my heart filled with hope. "We will," I said. "Together."
