The Unspoken Pain

Seeing Lily's gaze, Sophia Bennett nearly jumped out of her seat. She quickly yanked out the laptop's power cord and forced a laugh. "Let's go on a shopping spree! Shopping will cheer you up!"

"I'd like to stay with you for a while. Is that okay?" Lily suddenly asked.

"Huh?" Sophia was momentarily stunned but nodded repeatedly, saying, "Of course, of course, you can stay as long as you want."

"I'll move out once I find a job."

"Find a job?!" Sophia stared at her in shock.

Was she serious? After everything that had just happened—finding out her father wasn't her biological father and that her fiancé was her brother—she was thinking about finding a job.

What was wrong with Lily?

Was she suppressing her emotions because of overwhelming grief?

"Yeah, I've been out of work for a while. It's time to find something new." Lily nodded, her face showing no emotion, neither happiness nor sadness. "I'm going to take a shower now."
