Flying... no one was surprised to see Xifrin there. As a Level Five Magus, one could indeed fly without the help of equipment like Level Four Maguses needed. 

As mentioned in the past, Familiars already float naturally, but it isn't the same as flying. The further from the ground they are, the harder it is to go higher. Most Familiars didn't float more than one or two meters from the ground as it was a huge waste of energy. Why? Because they needed to have something to connect their Magic Energy to. That limitation was only conquered like the Maguses at Level Five. They could only fly as the real meaning of the word at the same level as Maguses. Simply put, Familiars below Level Five needed a surface to attach their Magic Energy to, which kept them floating.
