Chapter 2

I uncomfortably made my way through the streets of Magnolia, ignoring the stares people sent at me- or more specifically, my wings and halo.

It had taken me a couple of days to get my wings in working order and fly to Magnolia… Luckily, as a Flugel, I no longer needed to eat in order to live. Eating was now a luxury instead of a necessity, which made things slightly more convenient overall given I currently had no money.

However, given I also had no way that I knew of to hide my halo and my wings, I was stuck with people staring at me with awe in their eyes…

'Are they mistaking me for an angel or something?' I idly wondered… Flugels were also referred to as 'Angels of Death' after all.

[Obviously, Senpai~] BB's voice teased within my mind as she floated in front of me… The minx had the audacity to wiggle her ass right in front of my face as she looked back at me with a smirk!

I felt my cheeks turned red as I glanced away from her. Of course, only I could see BB. Nobody else even reacted to the floating girl flaunting her body, she was for my eyes only.

… Damn it, why did I have to think of it that way?

[Aw, don't worry Senpai~ This BB-chan is all yours, so there's no need to get all possessive~]

'But why me?' I couldn't help but ask her, trying to ignore how my spine tingled when she told me that she was mine. 'You have the powers of both a Goddess and an Outer God. You could have had literally anyone from across the multiverse, so why pick me?'

[Hm… That's a secret for now, Senpai~ Maybe if you're a good boy, I'll tell you later~]

I took a breath and shook my head, focusing up as Fairy Tail's guild hall finally came into view.

I stopped outside the door, admittedly feeling a bit nervous. After all, behind this door were many people I considered to be my idols and those I admired such as Natsu, Erza, Mirajane, and Laxus…

I took a deep breath and shook it off before I slowly pushed open the doors and made my way inside.

Instantly, I felt everyone look at me. At first, they seemed to just glance over and go back to what they were doing, before they did a double take and stared at me hard with shock on their faces.

"An angel…?" I heard a female voice breathe out, making me blush in embarrassment and BB to snicker in amusement.

"Um, excuse me, is the Guild Master here?" I asked them.

"Have you come to take our Guild Master to Heaven?" a male voice asked.

"Wha- no!" I exclaimed, feeling a wave of embarrassment rush over me. "I'm not an angel or anything! I'm here because I want to join the guild!"

"An angel wants to join the guild?" A girl yelled excitedly.

"I said I'm not an angel!" I repeated, my face red.

"I dunno," a male- who I recognised as Macao- smirked. "Ya got the wings, the halo… Looks like an angel to me."

"… You know what? I am an angel," I smiled kindly. "It's your time, sir, I have to take you away."

Macao spit out his beer and everyone had a good laugh at Macao's expense as he banged on his chest.

"In all seriousness, is the Master in?" I asked again.

"Yes," a stern feminine voice said, and I turned my gaze and blushed at the sight of none other than one of the strongest mages in the guild walking towards me.

There was no other way to put it, she was gorgeous… Long, scarlet red hair, chocolate brown eyes, wearing form fitting armour that curved over her impressive bust with the Fairy Tail emblem boldly displayed. A short blue skirt and knee length black boots…

This was perhaps the most powerful female mage currently in Fairy Tail, perhaps in all of Fiore: Titania – Erza Scarlet.

"Is something the matter?" Erza asked, and I realised I must have been staring at her.

"A- Ah, s- sorry!" I told her, blushing. "J- Just um… I'm a really big fan, Miss Scarlet…"

She blinked and smiled softly. "I'm a bit too young for people to call me Miss Scarlet, you can simply call me Erza."

"Th- that might be a bit much for me right off the bat," I told her, rubbing the back of my head. "A- Anyway, you said the Master is in, right?"

"Yes, he's in his office at the moment, I'll lead you there," she told me, turning around and walking ahead of me.

[Damn~] BB giggled as she watched Erza walk ahead of me.

Damn was an understatement… The way her hips swayed with every step; she wasn't even trying to show off… It was true what they said, all a woman has to do to get a man's attention is walk.

[You'd better hurry and follow, or else she and everyone else will realise you're staring~]

I quickly moved to follow her, shaking my head to snap myself out of it… Admire the powerful scary mage later, right now I had to focus up.

I followed Erza through to the back of the building, to a door clearly labelled 'Guild Master's Office.'

She lifted her gauntlet clad hand and knocked on the door three times. "Master? It's Erza, may I enter?"

"Come in!" Came the tired voice of Makarov Dreyar, Fairy Tail's 3rd Guild Master.

As we walked into the room, I saw the small form of Makarov with his balding head with a ring of white around the sides and back, with his thick white moustache wearing blue pants and a small white coat perfectly fit to his size.

He looked up at me. "Hm?" His eyes went to my wings. "An angel? Ah, is it finally my time then?"

"Wha- no!" I blushed again, why did everyone insist on teasing me? "I'm not an angel, I'm a Flugel!"

"Flugel?" Erza asked, tilting her head.

"I've never heard of that race before," Makarov admitted, tapping his chin.

"It's… Complicated," I decided to say. "I'll explain more at another time."

"As you wish," he nodded. "So, why have you come to my Guild then?"

"Um… I'd like to join Fairy Tail," I told him.

He smiled. "Okay, welcome to the Guild."

Even knowing that Fairy Tail's policy was to not really turn anyone away, I still felt shock ripple through my system at how casually he agreed to let me join. As if he didn't waste even a second thought.

"Just… Just like that?" I couldn't help but ask. In the show it made sense but… What?

"Just like that," Makarov smiled. "Why would we turn away people who want to join our family?"

I just stared at him in dumb shock, while Erza chuckled in amusement…

It would probably take some time before I could even dream of truly comprehending the thought process of these people… To so happily welcome someone into their family without even a second thought.

"I… Thank you," I told him.

He just smiled. "I'll hand over the paperwork for you later. For now, Erza take him to the front so he can get the stamp."

"Yes," she nodded. "Forgive us for interrupting you during your work."

"Ah, think nothing of it!" He laughed. "I needed a distraction, and welcoming another child to our guild is more than enough reason to interrupt my work!"

She merely smiled and nodded before she led me out of the office. I looked back at Makarov who gave me a smile before returning to his paperwork before I followed her, closing the door behind me.

"Everyone," Erza spoke up as we left the back. "The Master has allowed this young man to join Fairy Tail! And, though I'm personally not a fan, you all know the tradition when we get a newcomer to the guild!"

"PARTY!" Everyone declared gleefully, and I watched as everyone began to eat and laugh with one another.

It was… Interesting, so this was the infamous Fairy Tail Party… It was… Honestly kind of amazing… They barely knew me, but they were celebrating my arrival. For an introvert like me, parties had never been my thing, so it was hard to really understand why everyone was so excited.

I shook my head as Erza looked to me. "This way," she told me, leading me over to the bar, where I saw a short girl with long, pastel yellow-blonde hair with her back to us, her hair was so long that it reached her ankles.

The girl slowly turned around, and I felt my heart stop in my chest for a moment due to raw shock.

She was small, but ethereal, beautiful. Her eyes were green with no pupils, almost feeling as though they could stare into my soul. She wore wing-like adornments around her ears with small hoop earrings, wearing a short black dress that reached her knees with an apron, and a black choker around her neck.

'That's impossible…' I couldn't help but think. 'She's supposed to be trapped in crystal… How… How is she…?'

[When did I ever tell you this was the canon universe, Se~ N~ Pai~] BB purred into my ear.

I couldn't even respond as we both stared at one another for what felt like an eternity.

Mavis Vermillion, the first Guild Master of Fairy Tail, was working as a barmaid in the guild?

"… It's you…" Mavis whispered under her breath as she stared at me with… What was that? Longing?

"Hm? Is something wrong, Mavis?" Erza asked, and I realised that only I had heard Mavis at that moment. I heard BB snickering, which explained how I had heard her.

"E- Eh? O- Oh, it's nothing," she waved it off. "It's just been awhile since such a cute boy joined the guild," she smiled kindly. "Hello, welcome to Fairy Tail! I'm Mavis, I work at the bar along with Lisanna- you'll probably see her around, she's on a mission right now."

'Lisanna is here too?' I was stunned… Mavis outside of Fairy Heart and somehow not killing people with the Curse of Contradiction, and now Lisanna was also here and not in Edolas? What the hell timeline was this?

"Oh, um, it's nice to meet you," I told her, finally regaining myself. "I'm Ash Crestfall, and I guess I'm a member of this guild starting today."

She clapped her hands as her eyes lit up with joy. "That's great to hear! Then, you'll be wanting the Guild Stamp, right?" She asked as she reached into the bar and pulled out what looked like a stamp with the Fairy Tail Emblem.

"Ah, y- yes," I nodded at her words.

"Right, then where would you like it, and do you have any colour preference?" She smiled kindly.

"Oh um…" I hesitated for a moment, not really having an answer right away before I pulled off my jacket and shirt.

"W- What are you doing?" Mavis blushed, but I noticed she was staring at my chest…

"Here," I told her, putting my thumb over my heart. "Put the mark right here, in gold."

"Eh? R- Right!" She nodded, aiming the stamp carefully before she pressed it against my chest. I felt a slight tingle rush through my body for a moment as the stamp glowed before she pulled it back. Looking down, I could clearly see the Fairy Tail Mark- upside-down from my viewpoint- on my chest in gold.

"There you go!" She smiled, returning the stamp under the counter. "With that, you're now an official member of the Fairy Tail Guild! Welcome!"

"Ah, thank you," I responded, rubbing the back of my head in embarrassment.

"My work here is done," Erza nodded. "Please, enjoy your time at the guild," she gave me a kind smile before she moved back to her table where a Strawberry Cheesecake was sitting.

I put my shirt and jacket back on, my wings fluttering a bit uncomfortably, making me look at them and sigh. "I should really learn Transformation Magic," I muttered. "I can already tell these wings are gonna be a pain in my ass."

"You didn't always have those wings?" Mavis asked, intrigued.

"Oh, uh, no," I shook my head. "I used to be a normal human but… For lack of a better explanation, my dormant Flugel Bloodline 'awoke' and made some changes in me like my pupils, halo, and wings."

"Really?" Her eyes lit up. "I've never heard of a Flugel before, can you tell me more about them?"

I looked at her and smiled, "Sure."

Maybe my time in Fairy Tail would be more fun than I thought.
