A shocking confession

As the first light of dawn broke over the horizon, its gentle fingers of golden sunlight seeped through the half-closed curtains of the room. The room was hushed except for the occasional ticktock of the clock hanging on the wall. The comforting warmth of the sun's embrace seemed to coax Anne into full wakefulness. She sighed dispiritedly, feeling the urge to resume sleeping, the beauty of the sunlit morning scene hardly appealed to her.

Since the decision to relocate to a different country was made two weeks ago, Anne had become gloomy and withdrawn. Even though she has always wanted to explore the world, she felt as though she was being trafficked against her will, only in this case, it is for her safety. Anne continuously blames the failed justice system in her country and the biased equality before the law her country claims to practice.

Waking up to every new day brings her closer to the day of her departure which is scheduled for two months from today.
